    In part 2 of his beat making videos, producer Justen Williams is back to share his music making process when he's got access to his full size AKAI controllers. Much like part one, which if you haven't seen it is worth the watch, Justen uses a keyboard controller and a pad controller to their fullest advantages.
    We'll also see how he taps into the music community at Allihoopa to get some stems and samples for his beat. If you make music by clicking with your mouse and wonder what opportunities might await a switch to a controller based workflow, you'll definitely want to check this out.
    Reason Lite is available for free with the purchase of the following Akai hardware products:
    • MPD218, MPD226, MPD232
    • MPK225, MPK249, MPK261
    • MPK mini mk2
    • LPK25 Wireless, LPD8 Wireless
    Current owners of these products can simply log in to their user account at www.akaipro.com to get their free Reason Lite license.

    I'm always impressed with the results he gets, and only after watching many videos featuring him, I finally understand a little better how he gets inspired and builds his beats.
    But for me, starting with a "mood" sample loop with a rythmic texture that isn't an actually laid down drum beat is crazy weird and not how I go about doing it. But seeing him do it, I think maybe I should try out approaching it how he does

  • @xaviermccloud4586

    @4:53 THIS is usually the trait that separates artist from everyone else. You have to have your thing. When you make music you don't TRY to be like everyone else, you get the mood that YOU FEEL and take it to the next level. I love dudes videos. Real Artist recognize real!
    Edit and he's right, it IS the mechanics. Whatever your mechanic is. Some is clicking a mouse on different keys on the screen, some is keyboards, some use different peripherals like the Nanopad 2... Mine happens to be his. i like doing melodies sometimes and smaller things on the keys but USUALLY I need the meat of the track to come out of those pads. It's that "mood" he was talking about. that "feeling" that traps you and takes you to the zone.

  • @Kalapton
    @Kalapton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    guys someone help me out... can you do the same thing with just the 249? i mean it has all the pads, just seeing if it is a waste to buy both these. does the 249 allow you to do that drum note repeat ? cos that shit was dope.

    • @RollinElehmental
      @RollinElehmental 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i just asked this question myself, good to see someone else was wondering the same. I have the mpd226 but am considering replacing it with a 249 because it seems to have all the same controls and more. From reviews i've seen, there's nothing on the 226 that's not also on the 249. But i wonder if there's a Reason (get it?) he's using them separately. Would love to know before i buy the 249.

    Very good video, music production. There was only one thing that bothered me about this arrangement: the female voice is singing on a scale with a major third, while it should be minor. generates an interesting strangeness. However, musically it collides with the bass arrangement. Out that little detail, it's the fuck amazing arrangement!
