He needs to get those loose darts out of his game. So many darts missing the singles. And he was really nervous in the end, hoping he will get that under control as well.
Crowd were absolutely shocking tonight, especially in Wright’s game. Couldn’t be happier for him going through in those circumstances and against a class opponent as well

@@matthewbuttimer942 Price is slightly more understandable as he gives it back to the crowd and (mostly) thrives on being the pantomime villain, but booing players who’ve done nothing from the very start of a match just because of where they’re from is out of order
@@matthewbuttimer942 that’s why they’re pros, they have to deal with things like that. just like in every other sport with crowds. you’ll always have people rooting for you and you’ll always have people against you. you have to play your game whether they’re with you or against you. don’t blame it on a crowd. he lost, fair and square. pressure from the crowd got to him but that’s apart of the game when you reach that level.
Clearly never watched the darts played in Scotland the crowd do exactly the same.
I have seen it in Germany and other nations also.
These were some incredible games. Really hoping that Michael can go the whole way, playing awesome.

Gutted for Callan. He was so close to making it to the semifinals, leading against one of the very best dart players in the world... but he just seemed to run out of fuel within sight of the finish line. Still, an amazing World Championship for him.
So, considering that MVG's withdrawal, we're left with the "expected" semifinalists (except Smith over Price, of course; Smith's been playing the tournament of his life so far). Expecting some more insane gameplay from them in the semifinals.

What a sad crowd ruining such beautiful games, especially after price hit a 9 darter and still had people abusing him. Credit to Smith though, that game was scintillating
Ruining is a bit of a stretch. In a week or a month when I'm remembering the tournament, I'm not gonna remember the crowds.
He's a child in a man's body. Get on with it and stop moaning.
Smith also complained a guy was constantly shouting his name.
Pros have to be able to handle this.
Did Wright or Ando complain when the crowd went against them? No.

Anderson vs Smith and Smith takes it
Anderson usually plays really good against Wright. Think that one is 50/50. Smith should easily win if he maintains this form. But on the other hand, Wade is never easy to play against.
Agree on Wright vs Smith. They’ve been more consistent than their opponents. It’d be a hard final to call, Smith has probably played slightly better overall but tends to bottle it in big finals so I’d fancy Wright
Anderson vs Smith. Ando is steadily improving and he just kicks into gear at the back end of tournaments, you very rarely see him slip up in semis. Whether it's wright or anderson in that final, I think Smith beats them. He's just been the best player all tournament. Everything just seems to have clicked. If its him vs Anderson he might lapse a bit bc I'm pretty sure his record against him is dreadful but I think he'll have the goods. He's the most interesting winner anyways. Who actually wants to see the others win? I'd like to see wade win 1 at sone point but he just isn't playing well enough and honestly, he's kinda boring. As a huge gary fan, I'd love him to win another but lets be real, he doesn't deserve it. He's had a dreadful year on tour. And wrights won enough this year, he needs to share. Let Smith have it.
that 126 from Bully boy in the last set was Phenomenal - right timing . It got him the ultimate victory . I knew someone was gonna take Price out - and i felt Bully Boy this year had the grit, the power , the composure , the trust that were needed to nail it . Thrilling matches all around 👌
The irony of the Scotland get battered chant every game and there are two in the semis
Smith has shown a steely resilience throughout this World Championship I haven't seen before in him: if I was a betting man I'd put my money on him to win it this year. ... Indeed! it's absolutely pathetic the crowd should try and put off any player at pivotal legs in a match especially when it's been such a great game: I just don't see how the PDC could possibly marshal it other than having marshals actually placed in the crowd and a clear warning of instant dismissal from the arena and ban for life should the culprits be caught! Morons who choose to do this have zero sensitivity to great sporting moments. This kind of behaviour certainly wasn't tolerated at Lakeside but of course Lakeside was a much more intimate affair.

Well, MVG lost 5-0 to COVID, who doesn't even have a tour card! So I guess Price was right there (lol.) And Peter is still in the tournament.

Unpopular Opinion: No crowd is ever unfair. That is modern darts. If you welcome being the villain... you cannot complain that the crowd puts you off. No such thing. You asked for it... you got it.

I've watched darts highlights on TH-cam every now and then, but quite new to watching full matches. These were two absolute stunners!

Suprisingly, he behaved fine through the entire match.
@@krokodil9096 not really..like the game against huybrechts he pulled out another distracting trick: complaining about a person in the audience at a critical moment in the match.But only smart people know price does that to distract his opponent.He couldve complained in set 1 about this too: but he waited untill the critical stage of the match.exactly how he did it against huybrechts too.
@@ptm8375 amazing how you seem to have watched an entirely different match... Price complained about 1 person shouting bullcrap during his own throw - he still had to throw his 3rd dart. Even Smith said later on in the interview that that person was doing his head in even tho they were rootin' for him. So if anything, Price distracted himself more than he did Smith because he lost the match at that leg....The Huybrechts fiasco was Kim bitching about Price doing his roar to the crowd, which was really ironic since he did the same bloody thing and even more than Price did in that match.
Smith is a deserved winner of this game, and there's nothing that will take that away from him.
BUT this crowd, is a complete joke. A true disgrace to the sport, it's beginning to turn into football hooliganism with every match played... Boo'ing a legend like Beaton just cause he plays a woman who is above average in her play, boo'ing Anderson, Wright, even Kleermaker, and others... there's not been a single match where the crowd didn't disgrace themselves and the sport by their attitude.

it was a terrific New Year's gift for the audience! Three games that you can watch endlessly! Michael Smith, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright played great and they all deserve the title! Price and Rydz played great, but they were out of luck!

Smith deserved to win. The numbers were in his favour. He out played everyone in this tournament. Price was lucky he made it this far. The only other person over the moon for price losing is Kim. Peter showed his pedigree yet again.
You have to score 501 in less darts than your opponent,win 3 legs to win the set and be first to win,3,4 or 5 sets to advance.Up until this match Price has done those things,how the fuck is that lucky ?

The great thing about Callan Rydz is that he’s such an entertaining player to watch and very exciting. He’s so exciting that the cameraman doesn’t even know where to point the camera half the time when he’s throwing 😂 he’s someone I’d always turn on the telly to watch no matter what game he’s playing. No offence to Peter but I don’t feel the same about him or James wade for that matter.

Callan played outstanding. The pressure just got to him. Good on him. He'll be back. The highlight of the night though is Smith beating Price. At least we won't have to put up with his conceited, smug, I'm so cool attitude in the final.

The crowd was terrible, after missing a match dart, there was no redemption for price, complete lack of sportmaship and respect by those drunk idiots, he just hit a 9 and is world number one, give him and everyone else up on that stage the respect they deserve

Rydz was the player of the tournament up to that match and those ton plus finishes are incredible. But, Wright's percentage on the doubles is why the score was as close as it was in this match.
Also, a focused and head strong Smith is one of the best out there!

You cant blame it all on the crowd. In fairness Pricey had two match darts, both on his favourite doubles 40 and 20 .
It would be good if some one new wins the tournament. But I can see snakebite nicking it as he has the extra class and durability right now.

To bad Rydz couldn't control his nerves in the end. Without the nerves he would've closed it. But I guess it's normal in his situation. Wright really saved himself with big check outs at the right moments. That 96 was the most crucial one.

Price beaten by the crowd!! He wasn't his aggressive self, over celebrating fearing a crowd reaction which he did get in some way anyway!! That's how he normally wins, getting under opponent's skins. But in all fairness as well Smith played exceptional darts and deserves to go all the way on the back of that performance.
