I have a 1975 Singer 2000. It was a Christmas gift to great grandma from my great grandfather as a 30 year anniversary gift. It’s my favorite sewing machine I’ve ever had. I use it nonstop.
Both those colours really suit you but yes I love that soft lilac colour! Also thank you so much for digitizing your vintage pattern collection. As much as it’s important to preserve the originals as much as possible, they will eventually become too used to make clothes out of and to have a forever digital version to honour its memory is amazing! It’s also super practical for people like us who struggle to find real vintage patterns in our surrounding area. Would love to hear how you got that lovely 1957 machine. Keep up the great content! I see you’re only at the beginning of your channel but I really like your style and you seem like a fun person. I wouldn’t be surprised to see you in the same league as Rachel Maksey or Micarah Tewers someday, subscriber wise 😊
Thank you so much for your comment 🙏🙏❤️ I'm glad you think this way about digitising/reproducing vintage patterns. I know some people are concerned about copyright. I think the pattern companies who own them sit on the treasure trove of archives and are doing very little with it. Personally, I have to buy vintage patterns online, usually pay 20-30$ for delivery to Norway, and I'm often slapped with 36$ tax for importing goods. ☠️ I wish ALL vintage patterns were available as an easy pdf download 😅 so that's my mission for the coming years. I have around 300 patterns that need digitising, and I hope this channel will help make it happen😃😃 Thank you so much for your kind words. I feel nowhere near to the masters, but I guess we all have to start somewhere 😅😆 I'll keep working at getting better, and I hope you'll enjoy the results! Sending you a big hug from Norway ❤️
It was my partner's Mom who found my first sewing machine, a Singer Slant-o-matic for me! (403 series, Same machine as the Rocketeeer) For all the trouble it gave my partner and I learning it's quirks... I learned to quilt because of my partner, and having that machine, which purred. I just couldn't develop an attachment to my partner's contemporary machines, and probably wouldn't have really learned without it. Thank you Mum. You always knew the exact right gift when it appeared. And the lady who was selling it, very affordably, was so happy to hear there were a couple of 20 somethings who were quite into quilting.
Awww, what an amazing story! So you're both quilting now?😃 There was a time when Singer machines really purred, right?😃 that's the way I would describe the sound of my Singer from the 50s😍 Thank you for commenting and sharing your heartwarming story😊❤️🙏
I came across your channel and im so glad you popped in my recommendations! I absolutely love your vibe and im surprised to see that your channel isnt bigger ! Lovely sewinf skills aswell, the dress turned aout beautifully
@sarahryan122 Aww, thank you so much for your comment! 🫶 I'm so happy you found me! It's a bit nerve-wracking to put yourself out there, so it's really nice to hear that you enjoyed the energy here 😅❤️ I hope you'll stay with me till the channel gets a bit bigger. The new video is coming out later today!
I have very similar colouring to yours, and I think that colour suits you. These dresses came out very nicely! Have you done shirring before? Because that seemed to go incredibly smoothly.
Oh, thank you so much! 🫶 I made a tube dress last summer. I shirred a rectangle of linen fabric, leaving a little frill at the bottom. It came out both cute and comfortable. The only problem with that dress was the kilometres of shirring required to complete it 😂 my hands did not appreciate that particular idea, but I guess it was a good practice!
my God! I'm Brazilian and in the video (00:29) you used an image of a Brazilian soap opera villain, Nazaré Tedesco, from the soap opera Senhora do Destino. Loved it!!! It's a famous soap opera and the character is loved! The actress who plays her is a great actress, Renata Sorrah.
OMG!!!😃 Thank you so much for your comment!😃 this lady is epic, and I always wonder what movie /show this clip is from!😃 muito obrigado🙏❤️❤️ and Feliz Ano Novo🥳🥳
Hobbity potato!! Don't be daft girl! Your gowns are beautiful!! I wish I wasn't fat and fifty something. I would certainly make them. BTW the fairy fabric looks so pretty on you
They turned out so lovely! I really should try that kind of shirring, it looks exactly like the kind of gathering I want on my own dresses but the elastic thread always seemed intimidating. Seeing someone else do it makes it look more doable, so maybe I'll give it a shot!
It took me a goooood long while to brave the elastic thread, too! Turns out, it only looked scary 😅 please give it a go. You'll be super happy you did!😊❤️❤️
Aww, thank you, Arietta! You made my day with your comment!🤩 I probably waited something like 5 years to try my hand at shirring!😂🙈 it looked so intimidating to me! All you need is an elastic thread, and the rest turns out to be doable.❤
Thank you again wonderful vid so inspirational- Yes i would like to know the story behind your beautiful pistachio sewing machine and that light lilac is just beautiful on you.
Both colours look gorgeous on you. I dont think you should give the other away. Maybe make it a little shorter so then its easier for you to wear as a summer dress
That purple does look great on you! Pity you didn't try on the green nightgown/sundress, so pretty. If sheer fabrics are a problem, you might want to try the garments on with nude underwear or a slip underneath, it should be less nerve-wracking. I saw a lingerie-sewing youtuber using pasties, but that's definitely for the bold.😅
Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️ that's a genius idea to try it on with something nude underneath! My two active braincells didn't think of that in the moment 😂 I probably should have gotten my neighbour to come over and try on the green nightgown. She looks absolutely gorgeous in it!
@@Marlenasewing If you also get tunnel vision when it comes to project, then I can totally understand. 😅 You can always invite your neighbor for some footage and put it into your next video as a little update. I'm sure no one would mind. 😉
So pretty. I like the pale purple on you. Also I'd love to hear more about your sewing machine story! 😊
Thank you so much!❤️😊 you can hear the whole story in the video about my sewing machines 😃 ❤️
Yes, the lavender suits you. But I would have still liked to see the pistachio on you too
Noted! 😊 thank you so much for your kind comment!❤️🙏
Both colors look good on you. I would like to hear the story of how you aquired your lovely 1957 Singer sewing machine. Thank you. ❤
I'll make sure to tell the story in one of my next videos!😃❤️ thank you for watching, and Merry Christmas!❤️
I would absolutely wear that pattern as a summer sun dress! (But in a non-sheer fabric ofc)
I didn't notice it before I made the dress, but you're right! It makes for a very cute, simple summer dress😃❤️

"--to become a pistachio" :D so cute. and "if you sew but didn't have to rip a seam, did you even sew?" SEW true 😁(hehe, sorry 😀) Fun video!

Your sewing machine is so beautiful😢 and I may never make this but this video is fun😊
Yes, this sewing machine is a real beauty 😍 it's a real shame that new machines are so boring. Thank you so much for watching! 🫶

Did you use elastic thread for the shirring, or a gathering stitch?
Hello! 😃 I used an elastic thread in the bobbin and a gathering stitch at the same time 😊🌻
Lingerie stays on for about a minute...don't waste your time.😂
The better the lingerie, the faster it flies off. It was worth the effort 🤭😅
that isn't being ecofriendly lol that's being frugal.
don't trust anything I say, as I refuse to be serious 😂❤️ Thank you for your comment!
She’s puuuuurdy
Hahahaha, thank you🙈 you'll probably be like: I was talking about the mannequin 😂
@@MarlenasewingI was adding to your compliments to the pattern in the beginning 😬 But you’re puuurdy too and your curls are to die for 💁🏻♀️
