    Let's face it, Ram Man is a pretty disappointing figure. When I first for a vintage Masters of the Universe version I expected him to jump high in the air. But alas he didn't.
    So it seemed a good idea to try and rectify that with a new spring and get him Supercharged. Now I have a figure that I would have loved as a kid. And someone He-man could rely on in a fight against Skeletor.
    I guess Mattel had to thing of safety so couldn't go to far with the spring. I on the other hand can do what I want :D

    I very rarely used him vertically like that. I used to hold him horizontally and whack him into enemies which was always more satisfying and seemed to suit his role more.

    I had a Ram Man. He was really never a favorite, however, I'll never forget him. One night I was playing with him when I was supposed to be going to sleep. Next thing I know, I look at the clock and it is nearly midnight. Somehow I sat there playing with him for hours! I always wanted to stay up late, so for months after this I would take Ram Man to bed with me, but inevitably I would fall asleep at the normal time. Even though it was only that once, it is nice to think about the days when I could be content for hours just playing with an action figure and letting my imagination run.

    Although those 30+ year old springs have probably lost a bit of “spring”, I don’t remember them being too much better.
    But THIS is how good it should have been originally.
    Great mod 👍

      I've had quite a few ram man's over the years and most barely leave the floor. And a lot won't stand up at all. If they ever got wet the spring would rust through pretty quickly as it's so thin.

      Ram man's spring was definitely always weak. Even as a kid, it was underwhelming

    • @MisterCasket
      @MisterCasket 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had one as a kid, but it definitely jumped up further then in this video. Well , he would come off the floor for maybe a cm or 2? But I used it more as an attack function, headbutting everything in sight😂

    You are god sent my friend. I have taken care of my Heman and MOTU toys since I was a kid. I’ve been trying to find a way to display them now that I’m a father of three.
    I want to cherish them, but I feel like they take a lot of space. Not to mention how a grown man with almost the full collection of the toys would feel like. I want to find a way to display them. I cherish them wholeheartedly.

    You frighten me every time you hammer down on these figures. Every time I think you going to smash throu the plastic.
    And I have to say that this modyfication made him such a more powerfull and fun character (no pun intended)

    Ram Man isn't actually supposed to jump. If you look at his instructions on the back of the packaging, you are supposed to hold him by his legs when you press the button, and make him basically headbutt his enemies.

    And just as a ‘safety’ tip (if you’re worried about damaging/breaking your Ram Man), you can get a rubber hammer at your local Dollar Store/Tree (and I can’t think of the name of them… but they’re a Japanese version of a Dollar Tree) where you can pick up a rubber hammer for a $1. So that way it’s soft rubber hitting the plastic than steel. Just a suggestion.

    I had gotten a Ram Man figure when I was a kid in the 80s and it vanished without me even knowing, I was into video games as I had an Amstrad and actually played on that more than action figures, I usually just had them on display collecting dust, then one day whilst looking through some old stuff I found a little plastic axe and had to look online to figure out what it belonged too, turns out it belonged to the Ram Man I had lost and somehow forgotten about, in the late 80s early 90s I had a so called friend that over time I had realised would steal stuff from me, I would go make a drink for him and his brother leaving them in my room on a video game, I only truly realised how much he had taken after we fell out and over the years seeing things on retro toy channels like this one, I first realised I knew it was him as I had marked certain things and sure enough they would go missing and end up in his room not even hidden, out in the open I swear he or his brother stole my Ram Man. I'm sure I saw a smashed up one in his room one day and thought why would he do that to his toys, I would never do that, sadly I realised years later, it was mine and he never wanted to be my friend he fancied my older sister and as he could not go out with her so he became my mate and went out with my younger sister in the end and then stopped be a friend.

  • @MrDrokkul
    @MrDrokkul 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Been waiting for this one! Seems like a long time ago since it was previewed. One question, though. Given the nature of this plastic and how brittle some of it can become with age do you think that the extra force may cause a chance of cracking or breaking the plastic? Seems like a natural severe failure spot would be that thin plastic spike that the spring goes over. I think if that breaks off Skeletor will never be able to trick Ram Man into ramming down the jawbridge into Castle Grayskull.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spike is just for guiding the spring, it takes no force at all. All the force goes onto the main body and legs which as you can see can be hit with a hammer without issue. So I think it should last just fine.

    Please can you share the link to buy the springs? I can only find in AliExpress 1.0mm wire with 80mm length. For 0.7mm wire the max length is 50mm.
    Thanks!!

      Hi, I got them on eBay. I can't link directly to the listing so give all the details you need in the video. Cheers

    I just went ahead and ordered one off ebay and the springs. I want to try this. Have you or anyone else tried doing this with the Origins ram man?
