  • This is the 15th year for our annual family holiday timelapse. Some years are more memorable, and 2019 is no exception. The gift that kept on giving for the family was influenza. Five of the six of us caught a particularly virulent strain of the flu, despite our flu shots in September. This is why the video is being posted about 10 days late, as I was in bed for over a week and once I got back to editing it felt like Valentine’s day was approaching.
Last year’s effort was constructing a new train table. This year we decided to electrify the town to create a little magic.
Shot with a Canon 5DMiii, Sony 6300, Insta360 1X and GoPro. Finished with LRTimelapse, Lightroom, Premiere and AfterEffects.

Favorite moments: 1) street lights wobbling as you (unseen beneath the table) fiddled with their wiring; and 2) "drone" shot over the town as the train makes it journey. Oh and the failed icicle lights at the end. Bravo, Drew!

Wow... I was impressed with that train table. (I always wanted to get into building a train scape, but I would get obsessed with it!) What a fun film, especially the trip to Lowes. I feel like I was a part of the action. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the kind words Chris. I have to admit. There were more than a few sideways glances from the other drivers as I drove in the rain with a camera suction-cuped to my car. I was just pleased nothing fell off. Hey, anything for the shot, I guess. Thanks for watching.

This was fantastic! Glad you posted what cameras and such you used ‘cause I was wondering. TH-camrs everywhere should watch this because it is a great study in the power of creative camera angles to tell a story. Thanks for making it and happy holidays to you and yours!
