i mean there were good moments in the game followed by a plethora of missed doubles, but ultimately Dvd was just producing another bottle job unfortunately

It will be interesting to see who wins the tournament… it’s gonna be anyone’s guess at this point
I dont know why - but im rooting for Searle this tournament. Pretty unlikely in general, but many top players have been eliminated, time for an underdog to take it home!

The Matchplay is just brilliant isnt it? How can anyone not love this tournament. Darts has got to be one of the best sports out there, the competitiveness and unpredictability of each match makes it so entertaining. One thing we learn from darts is that u can score as high as u like and start the leg as well u can but it doesnt mean nothing if u cant hit that double to finish the leg. Brendan Dolan was unlucky today on the outer ring and Damon Heta was simply ruthless. He looks like a real contender but tbh everyone left in the tournament does. Jonny Clayton again, like Heta, was brilliant on the outer ring and the high finishes were just stunning, Dimi didnt do much wrong but it was the sheer brilliance of Jonny at the back end of legs that made the difference. It wasnt even a shock for me to see Searle beat Wright and even though he didnt perform like he did in round 1, it was still good enough to beat an out of sorts Snakebite. The last match was the pick of the bunch before a dart was thrown and it didnt disappoint. Felt like the Cullen v Price one yesterday where even though one player was ahead for the most part, u still felt like it could change at anytime and Dirk will really be kicking himself, he should have won on the European Tour a few weeks ago against Luke and should have won again today. He was 10-8 up and on 176 and Luke was on 401 and he still lost the leg from there without even having a shot at a double after 9 darts from 176. He cant keep doing this otherwise winning a major will just get harder and harder. I do believe he will win one day but he needs to get past that mental block and just hit freely like its just another leg. This tournament is wide open now and any of the 8 quarter finalists will fancy their chances to win the whole thing. Its so difficult to call a favourite in any match and now the real tests start in the longer format where its best of 31 legs in the quarters. Theres no hiding place now. Whoever wins the tournament from here thoroughly deserves it and i cant wait to see the drama unfold. May the best man win.

You could tell Humphries was in the Zone ,he wasn't looking around ,he did not celebrate, he just looked at the board and threw . if he plays like that the rest of this tourney he will win.
Most impressive to me was that he clearly wasn't in the zone earlier, but he got himself back into it.

Fun fact: Peter Wright wanted to win atleast 5 nights in the Premier League this year but only won 5 Matches so he is not a top 16 player anymore

That last game from Dvd and Cool Hand was the biggest match of the tournament by far! There was sudden death written all over it! I honestly think Dvd is the bottle job of all bottle jobs to be fair.
they are both generally bottle jobs when they see the finish line... but yeah i give top spot to dvd at the moment, i think he puts too much pressure on himself and over thinks shit.
great game, but gotta give it to the cullen v price match. both great games tho
What impressed me about that match was Luke was clearly in a sulky, crappy space - but he took the time to calm down, get his mindset right and just stuck to the task. His calmness put Dirk under pressure and he folded. Luke earned that win.
Yeah Dirk bottled it big time he was getting scores of 20 and 30 at the end just useless

how dirk plays at the start of his game, he should keep it going till he sings the fat ladys song as near the end he tends to lose his focus
The matchplay is the home of darts. I know the world's has the glitter and special occasion but the matchplay is always the greatest as the atmosphere is electric.

He's continuing to improve. His floor form has been wonderful from his first year but his overall Tv form hasn't been spectacular. This year he's developed a persona and that seems to be resulting in better play. He's also providing good entertainment which is important.
This has been an absolute joy to watch!!

Poor Dirk. Second match in a short time against Humphries in which he is in lead but somehow manages to lose 😐Applauses to Humphries for a great come back 👏 However, don't like his attitude. Always looks so tense, dissatisfied with himself. Of the remaining ones I would be happy to see an underdog winning the whole tournament, like Searl or Gurney.
Great stuff from Clayton. I’m newer to watching darts but I feel like I’ve seen Dirk choke a bunch of matches. Brutal for him

Humphreys actually played poorly by his standards tbf but he lived up to his nickname in sudden death especially before the sudden death when he hit bullseye to stay in the tournament

@jesperdevries936 can see it coming a mile away. He starts getting over animated and you can see his Rollercoaster of emotions and his game changes completely. Price has been doing this more lately as well as bully boy. Dirk just suffers from it more then anyone. If he can control it he will be a force.

Dimi didn't play poorly but Clayton was just a beast, especially on the doubles. Sad Dirk bottled but happy for the other players, honestly I have almost no preference for who wins which is very rare.

Whoever wins this tournament at this point literally deserves this because at this point the only person I can see right now winning the Matchplay is Clayton. I have almost no idea who can win this now since the top 5 in the world are already out so that just goes to show you that you will never know what’s gonna happen in a darts tournament and that the top 4 players in the world might get eliminated in the early rounds of tournaments and this year’s Matchplay clearly showed us an example of that.
And pretty much everyone's ignored Clayton the whole tournament
