- This week we show how we introduce the 2 year olds to exploring and being brave, confident horses, for their future careers as event horses in a fun way with no pressure. Nova demonstrates the more technical skills you can train for and the fun you can have with building liberty skills. 5yo Robbie demonstrates basic liberty skills while occasionally going off piste and Insey shows that not every horse is interested in liberty jumping even when they are a fantastic eventer who enjoys their jumping in other situations. As with everything about horses, it's all about learning, developing the relationship and improving your training skills.
Rob was so funny! Love his "aren't I clever" face
He is such a funny little sausage. Loves being told how good he is and he LOVES food.
@@theeventingjourney232 and he was loving rolling in the 'dirt' 🤣
Love seeing how you progress with Robbie; I have a 4 year old from Ireland being started now, (also big and chestnut!) so your journey has been so useful and inspiring. x
Thanks. The slow way is always the fastest way.
I had a laugh at the difference between the geldings and the mare.
Is it best to keep 2 year-olds only with others of the same age?
We are very pro herd for young horses and tbh a natural herd would be made up of all ages. I think as long as they get a herd experience they grow up to be well adjusted. Its doesn’t just need to be the same age. Nova and Eagle would be out with them as well but Nova terrifies them as pulls faces and Eagle gets over excited so they have to remain separate until the babies can cope with older horses.
