Hi Tom, Loving you're videos and reviews. I live in Wicklow, I wild camp every weekend and like to push the bad weather on my camps. Pardon the pun, I am torn between the inspire 2 or the 2.0. the full mesh inner on the inspire, I think would be a bit drafty here in Ireland in Winter. I'm about similar age and height to yourself. I'm thinking the 2.0 will be just too short in length on wet camps and a tiny bit cramped. Don't know if the foot end of the bag will be wet, or my head will be touching on the head end in bad winds. Big fan, great work. God bless 🙏👍
Hey Martin, thank you for the comment ... Yes this tent stands well in the wind but is definitely drafty due to the mesh doors... I have used the 2.0 and no issues at all with space and length for one person.. best wishes Tom
I have put in order for inspire with your discount code. Fantastic value, thanks for your insight and response. Looking forward to getting it out. Happy Christmas 🎄.
@martinnulty4490 Hey Martin that is fantastic news and thank you very much for letting me know.. Let me know how you get on with it... Best wishes Tom
@TOMHEANEY100 absolutely 🙏👍
Hey Tom, a very detailed and well thought out review as always. To echo your comments, I was so impressed with your Samaya I immediately bought one, so there is no better endorsement I can give! I do chop and change my tents and am fortunate to usually have 3 at any one time. Currently I have the Samaya Assaut and x 2 Hilleberg. The assault is the only one of them that is “safe” from my new tent addiction. I cannot think of anything else on the market that comes close in terms of attention to detail, innovation, quality, and performance for my needs. It’s just a fantastic product. Highly recommend 👍. Cheers.
Hi Tom really enjoy and more importantly respect your content, as stated in some of your video over the years. By far the best reviewer of tents online no one else come's close.
For me for 3 season UK use for remote trail's in Scotland I have yet to find a better product than the Enan, i remember testing it back when it has kerlon 600 i think it was, long story short they brought out a repacement of kerlon 1000 and yeas later i still would struggle to name a better product for one person, esp with its 1.2kg weight. It does perform far in exception of its 3 season rating, i've used mine in some testing conditions, but i do use my Nammatj 10mm pole (can be bought sep these days) and split the side guys, use bungy on the corner anchor points and have additional guys. My only critism was the lack of the Akto rain cover on the door (i had one added). I mention this as the Enan is similar weight, similar price, just a different style of tent.
Interesting that you are recommending the single skin, i've had some quite long nights in them (leading brands), uncluding a Samaya, think it was the assault, had an anchor point that went through the skin and one that you could clip the harness into above your head on the inside. Super minimalisic, material i think is compostie dyneema and poles from memory carbon. That said was too knackered to evalutate it as a tent, as wasn't mine, literally food and attempt sleep. That said your going up in price even from the hillebergs. I'l be honest i think this looks like a decent bike backing tent to give you a bit more room, but for repeat multi nights remote where the wind can get mental im not so sure Tom. Have you tried any other of the Samaya range? Be interested to see if they would send you one? They are a new player on the block so to speak putting technical emphasis as the forefront, but im still skeptial of something so light taking a full on scottish winter 4 season storm. Oddly enough i was talking to my climbing partner about Samaya literally the other month as he was looking at getting their lightweight bivy option given his Rab alpine bivy has bit the dust and well the breathability should work really well.
Thank you Tom .
I am about to be homeless due to the breakdown in my marriage.
I need to be close to my autistic 3 year old son , as we both need each other .
My wife suffers from mental health issues , which obvoiusly impacts us all greatly .
I am fortunate as I can still see my son and will carry on albeit not all the time .
I have read and listened to lots of reviews .
The only only ones I listen to are yours and going solo .
Thank you for giving honest reviews and may God bless you
Been waiting for this review for a while. Well considered and informative as ever. Thank you.
Hey Stephen, sorry to keep you on the review.... thank you for the feedback... best wishes Tom
Hi Tom. Great review, as always. Based on your videos, I've bought both the Instant2 and the Assault8K from Samaya. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
Hey Andrew, great to hear.. What are your thoughts on the tents?
Hi Tom.Thankyou for another detailed review.Just to share my experience with this tent.I was a bit disappointed with the fact there were no door ties on either side of the one I bought.I thought this was a quality issue (and still do) and raised it with Samaya.They assured me the ties were removed following customer feedback to save weight !!!
Disappointed with Samaya
You mean you could not tie back the vestibule?
Hey Tom! Love your videos! Which version of the kilos sleeping pad do you prefer?
Hi, probably the blue heavier one as not much heavier than the UL but warmer.. I hope that helps.. best wishes Tom
I love the design it very similar to my ics tent love the full open front door .. i would buy this tent in a heart beat if they had more stealth colors
Hey Mark will you ever stop looking at tents?? Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment... A sand colour in this would be nice.. best wishes Tom
@ man it a addiction lol i am searching for the holy grail tent
@Bikepacking yes I have a few additions too...🤣🤣
Tom, you're slowly converting me? and now 30% off. What have you done. How do you think it would over the long term?
Nice to see you back.
Hi Marty, thank you for the comment once again... it will do well long term but just be careful of the thin pole sleeves.. great to hear from you... best wishes Tom
Thanks Tom. I know the pink bits are breathable, what about the black vestibules? I have a feeling they’re a different fabric - how does that perform in your experience? Cheers, Peter
The doors of the vestibules are 10d syl nylon.. A little thin by my liking but then it is only a 3 season tent.. I hope that helps. best wishes Tom
@ I’ve just bought a Tarra to replace the Nammatj 2! But maybe later next year I could be in need of a three season tent 😉.
Nice video and review 🙂
Hey thank you I really appreciate the feedback.. bet wishes Tom
