Owned goyard but seriously their canvas is thinner and felt cheaper than Louis Vuitton canvas imo. You still can love both though without discriminating the other. Cheers

Again I explain why in this video. It has nothing to do with being cheaper...there is no plastic so it is less rigid. Goyard st Louis is not for heavy stuffs.

This was fantastic. As a U.S. based woman, I am aware of the hype surrounding the Louis Vuitton brand, and actually a lover of their vintage pieces, as the quality is superior to the more recent collections.
Also, as an owner of a few Goyard pieces, I do appreciate the love and time placed into the craftsmanship. Larger companies and mass production seem to miss the mark with this, every time.

I am a customer of both brands. I wish people would stop comparing the St. Louis to the Neverfull. People should compare the Artois or the Anjou to the Neverfull instead. The Neverfull is a workhorse of a bag. The St. Louis was designed to be a light beach bag and not intended for heavy loads or daily usage. The unfair comparison results in a lot of people purchasing the St. Louis, using it like a Neverfull, only to be disappointed when the St. Louis develops cracks in the straps and holes in the corners in under a year. I see a lot of people on TH-cam declaring Louis Vuitton to be the superior brand for this reason.
I love both brands but they serve different style functions as well. My Goyard bags are my daily bags (Artois, Anjou, St. Louis in several colors, Cap Vert, Petit Flot and Mini Alpin). My LV bags are typically on the trendy or flashy/loud side. Although in addition to those LV bags, I do have the Speedy 30 in Monogram and a Speedy 25 in Damier Ébène that I consider to be classics.
I’ve noticed that I get complimented on my Goyard bags a lot more, particularly by young men here in the US. My LV bags are seldomly complimented on except for a few of my artist collaboration bags or a few pieces from the men’s range.
In major cities here in the US, both brands are seen everywhere. I’d say in New York and LA, I see Goyard more. In my city, Chicago, I still see more Louis Vuitton but Goyard is starting to catch up.
And you are right, when I go to Paris, Goyard is carried by many people, and I rarely saw a Louis Vuitton bag. The last time I went, I almost wish I had carried a Louis Vuitton tote instead of the St. Louis I brought with me because everyone else had it too.
I wouldn’t say that Goyard has more prestige. At the end of the day they’re just practical objects. Currently, Goyard affords a person more “flex”. In this day and age of high quality fakes with more and more people happily buying them, I hope all these bags lose their flex. And people just buy what makes them happy based on style, design, functionality and craftsmanship.

A well dressed woman carrying a speedy is an amazing sight… I saw this old lady carrying hers, so lovely, looking flawless and she looked at me and saw mine and smiled, I have 2 and they are both going to my daughter. ❤your video & you are 1000% correct. Aside from the tacky logo overload that some people obviously like, many of the popular LV styles can’t even be considered “luxury bags” anymore. I haven’t taken my Neverfulls out of the closet in years because I’m kinda embarrassed to walk around with 1) bags that soooooooo many people have and have become way too common in the US, and 2) as I’ve matured, I now prefer “quiet luxury”, so much more chic.

Personally, since I have traditionally worn very little brown, and prefer black as my staple color, I have not worn LV and don't own any. I do have Gucci from my mother's collection and I collect Fendi. I also like Radley, London for its sturdy characteristics and the fact that the bags are made in England and well done. I love Goyard and am seeking just the right one for my wardrobe since I have dozens of black bags and totes. I love the dark pink, the green, and the yellow smaller size totes. Thank you again for this explanation. I had no idea that LV used plastic while Goyard uses resin. It's pattern is beautiful.

Hello Liz, I like vintage Gucci and Fendi, and I own FL tote bag, not yet Goyard. I am thinking to buy Goyard as a beach/vacation bag because it was originally made for that plus it is waterproof. I love the blue and pink one. Yes LV uses plastic. Only few people know that sadly because usually they are not curious about the quality and manufacturing process. It is the essence of luxury. I am tired to see people buying luxury like they are buying foods…

@@Aliceinparisofficial I think people just skim the surface of what is chic, classic, and luxury. They go by the latest fad or fashion. I had a French friend in New York City who always looked impeccably dressed. When I saw her closet, I was shocked. She had maybe two dozen items hanging with space between them. All black except for a couple of white shirts, polished cotton and silk, hand-made. Everything was of the highest quality and no one noticed she was wearing the same black skirts, blazers, dresses and trousers because she used Hermes scarves as clever accents and each outfit looked unique. I should have invested that way over the years and am disciplining myself to do so now.

I was just in Paris and bought a Goyard. I love both Vuitton and Goyard. To me, the Vuitton monogram pattern is beautiful. I don't consider it a logo, it's a pattern. The LV's are on the monogram to prevent counterfeiting. I also love the Goyard chevron Y pattern. It's a Y for the central character in the Goyard family name.
One way Vuitton blows Goyard (and Chanel for that matter) out of the water is customer service and after sale care. Chanel is a total joke - garbage quality and horrible after sale care. Goyard's quality is amazing, but their after sale care sucks, too.
All luxury brands have work done in other countries (and I'm not sure Goyard doesn't either). European Union law says only two manufacturing steps have to take place in a given country to slap that "made in" label on it. Goyard used to handpaint all their bags. They don't any longer. How can you possibly say every step of the manufacturing process is done in France? We have no way of knowing. But, with the amount of money these brands pay their workers, I doubt it's a Frenchman or Frenchwoman making that Goyard bag. It's like someone from China or Eastern Europe that now lives in France.

Hello! Thank you for your video spotlight on the quality of the Goyard brand. I have been thinking of adding one of their totes to my collection and look forward to visiting one of the boutiques in Paris when I visit again during the holiday season. I've never been in a Goyard boutique or touched the canvases so I'm looking forward to the experience. Hopeful that there will be a grand selection of colors and styles available.
I'm interested to know if you need an appointment to visit the store? Sure, I'm a tourist, but not one that will stand in line outside a store with the masses like people do at the LV Champs Elysees store. Time is better spent enjoying other wonders of the city!
Also, which Goyard location has the best shopping experience in your opinion?
    Merci❤

Hello they have all the colors usually and models also. Sometimes you just have to order but no waiting list. I strongly suggest to go the St Honoré boutique. It’s the historique boutique and less waiting line. No need to have an appointment. Goyard staff are lovely, I told them I didn’t want to buy but I was here to ask questions for a future purchase. They really take the time to explain everything. My seller also recognized my Faure LePage right away saying it’s a great quality brand also. It’s totally different than LV in all aspects really …

Thank you for this video. Personally I have never liked LV. I have always liked Goyard. Though at the end of the day I am Jerome Dreyfus girl 😂

Sorry, but this is your opinion.
It depends how LV is worn.

I've purchased more elegant bags at Walmart over LV. The brand, in my opinion, has become gauche.

Goyard bags look equally tacky to me

All of this is geocentric in nature and not universal. LV is a French brand, which to Parisians makes it domestic and boring. Frankly, I never see many women in Paris using Goyard either. Both enjoy great prestige outside of France, however. What’s foreign is always fêted and considered superior to the familiar. For an example, Americans today wouldn’t be caught dead in Tommy Hilfiger. It’s seen as domestic and passé. Yet the label still enjoys considerable caché in Europe. Polo Ralph Lauren is no longer as popular in the States as in Europe. Same reason. The well-heeled of the U.K. won’t go near Burberry or Fred Perry, despite both brands thriving as luxury outfitters in other countries. ALSO: Even though the Goyard print might not technically feature logos or letters, the pattern has over-saturated the market and become recognizable around the world as being Goyard. And you can thank ostentatious American rappers and Hollywood people for that phenomenon. Consequently, the print now registers just as vulgar as anything from LV Monogram. At least it does to people with sophisticated tastes.

Sorry but parisian don't purchase Goyard over Louis Vuitton. When you are in the streets there's more LV than Goyard.

Just went back from vacation full of true Parisian mostly for the 16th. NONE has a LV. Goyard of Faure le Page. A lot of tourists in the streets also people who don’t live in Paris. I live in the 8th Paris. No LV bags, very rarely vintage LV bags.

The Goyard reminds me of my swimming totes from 80s/90s... not chic or classy at all

Sorry Alice but I don't think Goyard is that superior to Louis Vuitton in terms of quality. I own 2 bags from the brand and they really feel the same as any other big luxury brand, like Louis Vuitton or Gucci. It is just a matter of styling, not quality. If we are talking in quality, Fauré Le Page stands out.

I own Faure le Page. I know that there is a huge difference of production between LV and Goyard and Goyard is much more high quality because of that. Do you own Moynat? I am becoming obsessed about this brand and I am thinking to buy my next summer bag from them.

@@Aliceinparisofficial I totally agree that there is a good difference between the production of LV and Goyard, if I had to choose one to be my everyday bag brand it would be Goyard, way more elegant.
I have heard of Moynat but never tried any of their products, is it really good?
