Chad, I love watching your winter camp videos. When tent camping, I always prepared a one pot meal at home, bagged it, put it in the cooler. When we arrived and set up, everyone is ready to eat. All I had to do was heat it up over the camp fire, makes everything tastes better. Thanks for taking us along on your winter wonderland journey.
Thanks for giving the temperatures in both Fahrenheit and Celsius, much appreciated by us non-US peeps! Also, I love your winter vanlife adventures, keep 'em coming!

When I was younger, my friends and I would walk about 3/4 mile to our favorite winter camping spot in the woods. Usually, we brought an old heavy duty tarp for the main shelter and on a few occasions we built a quinzee. A campfire with hotdogs and a few slices of bread and we were set. Sometimes we'd sneak a few brews from our dads stock and didn't need much more.

I cook in my van on my butane burner, I’m a vegetarian so it’s veggies and grains. Thank you so much for all of the work you put into your videos. Keep safe and sound.
For dessert, my dad would make mini pies in a pie iron over the campfire. Very simple: white bread, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and canned pie filling. Mix some brown sugar, cinnamon and butter together and spread it on two pieces of white bread. Place butter side down in the pie iron(1st piece). Add some pie filling (my favorite is peaches) then add the second piece of bread with butter up. Cook to golden brown and perfection.

When cooking pasta, add enough salt to the water so it tastes like the sea. But you never add oil. Oil will coat the pasta and prevent the sauce from being able to stick to it.

CHAD! Love your videos man. Great camerawork and storytelling, it really draws viewers in. Just a tip so your pasta cooks evenly . Break handfull of noodles in half and so on as u add more. Will fit in pot better. I do that at home every time i cook pasta. Also save a little bit of pasta water (or dont drain out all the pasta water) will not only keep pasta from going dry but will make it nice n creamer and the pasta water does add flavor. U dont need a lot .i also do this at home when i make pasta

Me too, I thought it was the older video, and I almost skipped it, then I saw the date. I'm glad I paid attention --It's a great video. Now I'm going outside to build a fire a drink a glass of wine : )
Meal idea: you could take some potatoes, onions, carrots, cube some beef(any cut) put it in tin foil. Season it with paprika(make it how spicy you want), garlic powder, pepper, salt, and olive oil. Then wrap it up and cook it until everything is .It is very simple but delicious. Hope you try this out

Chad, next time you cook noodles like that I would suggest breaking them in half or thirds so it will fix better in the jet boil. That way the noodles will cook evenly. Also, I usually prepare tinfoil dinners before I go camping. It consist of meat and any vegetables that you like wrapped in tinfoil. All you need to do is cook it in the fire coles and in a half hour you've got an easy meal. Congrats on 100k subscribers, I've been watching your videos from when you first started.
@Sokly Vann We used to make what we called Hobo shovel sandwiches around the campfire. Salami, ham, cheese, olive oil, seasonings...whatever you like on some good thick cut crusty bread...wrap it all up in aluminum foil and put it on your shovel at the edge, not in, the fire. Toss in the air a couple times to flip the sandwich over and in 10-15 minutes, you should begin to smell your sandwich cooking. Let it go a few minutes longer and enjoy. Best washed down with some good beer!
I know you like your ground beef in the dutch oven. Here is one for you. Scottish Doughballs Makes: 10 doughballs 10 tablespoons self-raising flour 1 pinch salt and peper water Mix ingredients with some water to make a dough ball (Size of small snowball) Stick it in the dutch oven with ground beef and cook for 15 mins. Dough balls soak up all the flavors of the ground beef etc. Great for a hearty meal

You're an inspiration man. You also remind me of my early cooking days. Peace out man and keep the experiences coming.
@@David-rx2to Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely give it a try.

I know you like your ground beef in the dutch oven. Here is one for you. Scottish Doughballs
Makes: 10 doughballs
10 tablespoons self-raising flour
1 pinch salt
and peper
water
Mix ingredients with some water to make a dough ball (Size of small snowball) Stick it in the dutch oven with ground beef and cook for 15 mins. Dough balls soak up all the flavors of the ground beef etc. Great for a hearty meal
