Will Travers returns to Kenya

As we enter March, the month of Born Free's 40th anniversary as a charity, our Co-Founder and Executive President Will Travers OBE has returned to Kenya - the place where Born Free's story began.
Visiting Meru National Park and Kora National Park, in this video blog Will visits some of the sites that are integral to Born Free's history, as well as looking to the future of the next 40 years and beyond.

I was lucky to have visited Meru and Elsa's grave in 2023. It is indeed a magical unspoilt wilderness and the spiritual home of the Born Free story. You can feel its history and I will never forget the sound of lions roaring in the distance when the sun was setting on Elsa's Kopje. I saw saw large numbers of wildlife while staying there. KWS have done a amazing job restoring the Park and its wildlife, after they were decimated during the poaching crisis during the 70s and 80s. Meru and Kora are one of the last true wild wilderness left in Africa and they should be protected and saved for ever, before it is too late . This can be achieved with help of the Born Free Foundation, its partners, KWS and the local people working together to benefit the wildlife, park and the local people.
Thanks to the Born Free Foundation, George Adamson, Joy Adamson, Tony Fitzjohn, Bill Travers and the amazing Virginia Mckenna who have all inspired me and have all done so much for wildlife conservation, especially the lions and the wildlife that live in Meru and Kora.

Kora National Park and Meru National Park are intertwined by Born Free story. Exploring the life and times of legendary George Adamson. Kora visit was breath taking and great encounter with incredible history.
