I remember one instance, a fan walked up to him and asked him to do a joker laugh. At the time he looked tired and probably would've much rather not do it, but he couldn't resist and did it anyway

Douglas Rutnarak I think some actors learn to appreciate what they had, kinda had, had then lost, and have again..Some of them learn with time and maturation that without the fans who buy/ watch any certain products they are nothing.
Been watching Batman animated recently and Mark's voice as the Joker is actually perfect, dudes a legend.

Em E. Yeah he also had a nearly fatal wreck right before they made ESB , part of why they wrote the wampa attack to explain his scars. Looking at his posture as someone who went through a similar accident I’m guessing he’s had some spinal fusions or is dealing with a lot of damage and arthritis, that “shrinks” a person way faster.

Jack Nicholson is one of the best actors in the history of cinema art, sir. Mark has only the voice, don't get me wrong, it's a good voice, but most definitely NOT that good. But do you really compare Jack's mannerisms, his body language, his whole Joker conception, especially his laugh with Mark's!? Plus, Jack has also the face of pure evil. And, of course, Bob Kane, himself, was in awe of him.
Then there is Heath. One of the best talents of this generation. Again, can you even begin to compare his performance with that of Mark? You could just hear Heath's voice and be quite intimidated. Whereas.. Mark is good. NOT that good.
But i am happy to listen to your arguments, if you have any, that is.

Jack Nicholson is my all time favourite actor to play a Live Action Joker, but he played the character once and that Joker was ruined by the atrocious make up. Heath Ledger is one of the better Live Action Joker's, sure and I was a huge fan of Ledger, but far from the best. But let's count how many Live Action Joker's there have been, shall we?
1) Cesar Romero - 60's Joker.
2) Jack Nicholson - Burton's Joker.
3) Heath Ledger - Nolan's Joker.
4) Cameron Monaghan - Gotham's Joker.
5) Jared Leto - The Worst Joker.
6) Jaoquin Phoenix - Joker's Joker.
Okay so it's not hard to be the best of this buch. Leto is terrible. Ledger was alright and only won an Oscar out of sympathy for his death. Leto was god awful. Romero was a funny Joker, but not what I'd consider a criminal mastermind. Leto is by far the worst Joker. Nicholson was my favourite Live Action Joker. Leto, his Joker is crap. Monaghan, from what I've seen has potential to the best Live Action Joker out of the bunch, but he's still young and still learning and exceptionally talented. Leto has by far made the Joker his own character, and in doing so tainted the character so much so that he is not the Joker to me. Phoenix is by far the best on screen Live Action Joker we've ever seen, but I feel that he's not the real Joker.
Mark Hamill has made the Joker what he is today, the recent movie would have been nothing without Hamill's Joker, and the only reason The Joker is as popular as he is today is because of Hamill's Joker, it's that simple.
Say what you want about Live Action vs Animated, but that's irrelevant compared to popularity. I can guarantee that the most of the Fandom who have seen all Live Action, Animated and Game versions of the Joker would pick Hamill's Joker over everyone else. You my friend are in the minority of fans who prefer the Live Action Joker over the vastly superior Animated Joker.

Tim Burton's Joker interpretation was different from all the others, as Heath's approach was unique, as Joaquin's performance was, as well. Σο that argument about the atrocious makeup? He was deformed, as was Ledger. He was supposed to be that way. So, you cannot say: ''what a horrible makeup'' when HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY, and since Bob Kane loved him, the creator of Batman.. isn't that enough, i wonder? Argument invalid. But if we come down to your next one, that i truly cannot tell if you are.. well, joking or not,(pun not intended) of how many action figures can determine quality.. it's like saying to me ''Justin Bieber has sold more copies than Freddie Mercury, therefore he is better''.
Quantity must never, EVER, be involved with quality.
But. But if it ever was.. You do realize that cartoon shape and form has nothing to do with Mark's appearance, right? I do not care who gives Spawn his voice. McFarlane's figures are astonishing, because of the designing artist. Todd, that is!
Leto was HORRIBLE! Yes, there, we agree. BUT. Heath did not win that Oscar out of sympathy. I am truly in awe of how many, many, many times i have heard of that accusation. He won it because he was that good. When Daniel Day-Lewis deems you one of the best actors, of this generation, then you must be that good. It takes one of the best to appreciate and acknowledge one of the best, after all. Now. Put Mark next to Heath. Tell them to give you the evil eye. If Mark does that.. i would die laughing. If Heath did that.. you were terrified.
Romero was a joke. His painted mustache, included.
Then, and here i must emphasize how wrong you are: ''Mark Hamill has made the Joker what he is today, the recent movie would have been nothing without Hamill's Joker, and the only reason..''. That sounded like a statement, however you use no argument not only to support that theory, but to prove it right. And that is correct, for how could you ever support that outrageous claim?! More people, as Heath's fans, went to see the new joker film, as Nolan's fans, then as cartoon's fans! Again, Joaquin was very good, NOT that good, to me at least, but very, very good. He deserves all flattering from the movie experts and the critics.
Of course, a good promotion is responsible for the 1 billion dollars that movie made.
Mark Hamill did not make the Joker as Joker is, today. Many artists contributed. Alan Moore, for instance! If you were a comic book fan.. you would know that. Take Alex Ross, for example, amongst many, many, many others. THe cartoon helped a lot. Burton helped a lot more.
Am i the minority? Again, quantity over quality? Ask a Bieber fan about his songs. They will insist that he is that good. He is not, of course. But, to answer that accusation.. i am not the minority. I am your minority of the people that you had this conversation before.
That is not the same.
Both Heath and Jack had the voice, the laugh, the appearance, the body language, the facial expressions, the piercing eyes.
Mark has just the voice.
This reminds me of that Simpsons episode when Mark Hamill went to the Bi-mon-sci-fi-con.

We need a movie where we can see Mark portraying a Luke like character so we all can enjoy seeing him and the character being honored
Yes please! I felt like I needed to write a movie to make sure he got just due. I'm not a writer but I felt like something needs to be done to make up for his portrayal in that last Star Wars movie.
It's not a movie but that TV show Knightfall has Mark Hamill in the 2nd season. If nothing else watch the 3rd episode. Mark's character is what Luke Skywalker should have been in The Last Jedi. Trust me, you dont need to watch the series but watch that episode. The showrunners gave Mark his due respect.
