As a native new yorker you aren't wrong. There really isn't a reason to visit those places as a tourist. Yankee stadium and the Bronx Zoo are the only places in the south bronx for tourist

There are NO safe neighborhoods in New York City. All the places that he mentions as "challenging" or "stay vigilant" - should be regarded as DO NOT GO THERE. A few times he mentions "after dark." People get blind-side punched in the head or get slashed by knife-wielding mentally ill people in broad daylight (in what only a few years ago were considered "safe" neighborhoods). If some strange looking guy is just shouting at no one for no reason, do not assume he is safe to walk past. He might be, but then again he might not and you have no way of knowing. What good does it do to be vigilant if you are just walking down the street with your significant other (so, not alone) and a guy walking the other way on the sidewalk, instead of passing you, blocks your path and pulls out a knife? Does it happen to everyone? No, of course not, but it does happen, so why take a chance? Speaking of taking a chance, don't ride the subway. At all. Even at noon or the morning rush hour. I know, millions of people do, but people also get pushed in front of incoming trains, and they get assaulted on the platform and in the cars. If for some reason you MUST ride the subway, stand in the middle of the platform, not anywhere near the edge until the train is fully in the station. Better yet, stand with one of the large metal girders at your back. Even better, take a cab. Seriously. I've lived in Manhattan for 30 years and I will no longer ride the subway. Not worth the risk (unless you are a firm believer in reincarnation and so just don't care). It is going to sound racist to say this, but the people most at risk are Asian females. There are a significant number of people in NYC that hate Asians (this started well before Covid, and probably has roots in dislike for storekeepers in poor neighborhoods, and women are seen as easier targets). I'm sure lots of people would call me a Chicken Little or paranoid. That may be, but I don't believe in reincarnation and I don't want to take unnecessary chances. I'm not telling you any more than I would tell my own family members if they wanted to visit NYC - except I would tell them just don't come. And if you must come, and if you do get confronted by a guy holding a gun and demanding all your valuables, for heaven's sake do not say something stupid like Nicole duFresne did when it happened to her. She said "What are you going to do now, shoot me" So he did. She died.

I agree,......I wouldn't put 1 foot in that city for ANY reason. A lawless crime-ridden shit hole city for sure.

Absolutely correct. There is no reason to go to virtually all of these places.

One thing that I am starting to realize is this: is it worth to travel to New York when you live in a tropical country and, therefore, find grayish cities disgusting because they remind you of the cemeteries of your country? For example, I see no reason to travel to a place where I will first have to check my wallet before stepping into a restaurant to have a nice meal. Everyone counts cents in New York!!!! This is a disease. I would throw the Coney Island hotdog in the trash can because in my country hotdogs come with olives, a boiled quail egg, two sausages, onion, corn and finely shredded fries. Second, what's the fun to go to Broadway when you can't stand musicals? And the chilly wind that blows all the time. In my country the wind is refreshing not annoying. So I hate chilly winds. So I would go New York to just tick New York on my travel destinations. Is it worth it? From all the videos people make one thing calls my attention. Living in New York is very lonely. People do not connect to other people in public spaces. Everyone has fun in his/her own bubble. I am scared!!!! Better find a wiser way to spend my money.

Practically useless video without statistics, examples of crimes and map view. I guess it is AI generated script.

@@christopherstewart9874 that is exactly what I was expecting. However from the video it seemed more like occasional pickpockets.
