The drive is a little over an hour south of Merida.
Maní is also a forgotten center of Mayan history, with a sad story from the Spanish and the bishop Diego de Landa.
We toured Uxmal last week, and Manny was our guide. Very knowledgeable. Very proud of his heritage.

Why is uxmal less known than Chichen itzá?
@@pedrovlogsviajeros5521 If you go to around 6:50 in the video he explains it. Chichen Itza is promoted heavily and is much easier to access from Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Hotels have day tours for guests. Traveling to Uxmal would take way longer.
Wow but uxmal for me is better because it is more calm and not crowded and the biggest advantage is that you don’t take long lines to buy tickets as you take in Chichen itzá Tulum or teotihuacan. Also another advantage uxmal have is that it is a big archeological site and if you go during Monday to Friday you are alone while in Chichen itzá Tulum teotihuacan and other you will find crowds every day.

Minute 7+ the real reason is because uxmal is private land who somehow sombody buy . And chichenitza used to be private untill the goverment bought it back ! Guess what 2023 uxmal will be buy by the goverment back for the people to enjoy !:)
