My grandfather passed away very peacefully after a long battle with cancer. His final wishes was to have this song played at his funeral as it was his absolute favourite. Too all those out there struggling due to lost loved close ones. My heart goes out to all of you. RIP to my amazing grandad x
Thank you. My mom passed in August from cancer. I will never forget watching Beaches in the cinema with her - as a kid- and crying together during this song. Now it has a totally different meaning, and I am still in tears.
My mom insisted on this being played at her funeral for decades. It is funeral time. My brothers want to know WHY. They think its an odd song. They dont think the lyrics are fitting for a 92 year old... Whatever! I just know it was her favorite song and in her directive... (I certainly love it, too) After deciding to listen to it again (been a few years!) I had an epiphany last night. It is a tribute to her older sister for my mom. What an incredible song!💖💖😍😍

12 years ago my father suddenly passed away from cancer. I remember on the drive home from the hospital that night, this song played on the radio. I totally lost it...I had lost him. He was my beacon light, the go to guy for all my solutions to life troubles. My best friend. If I ever needed help I knew I could count on him for it. He was my guiding light... and now hes gone. There would be no more from him. I was left to figure things out on my own. Every once in a while this song would come on the radio or on tv and it would take me back to that night in 2010. I'd try and remember the sound of his voice and the things he would say. So vague, now. I can barely recall as my memory fades. When I was growing up, he was always there to keep me on the straight and narrow. Kinda like this song, the wind beneath my wings...If you can read this Dad, I'm still here trying my hardest to get through this life the best way you taught me. So far, I haven't faltered. I love and miss you so much. Until we meet again...RIP

I just lost my spouse of 20 years this week, and her services were this morning. Her big sister wanted this played at the wake because it perfectly describes their relationship. Julie responded to her battle with breast cancer with dignity and grace because she knew she wanted to continue to be there for me and our two children. She never complained and never backed down from her fight. It was those qualities that made her big sister look up to her. We're going to miss her terribly. RIP Julie. Love ya!!

He and Mom both came from large families, but they are all gone now. I can’t imagine the grief you are experiencing. I’ve lost 2 children and every single person is special in their own way. I have come to understand that our loved one are watching over us. Time numbs the pain a bit so that you can function, but the grief moves inward, becoming more private. We never stop missing them. Eventually the happy memories will come back and they won’t make you as sad. Her strength of spirit is in your words. That strength will be with you still. She has never gone so far that she cannot love you. Say her name, often, speak to her, write her a letter, play her favorite song- even if it makes you cry. @beyondtheskye1 I don't think I can thank you enough for your kind words, Brenda. One thing that's tricky about losing a spouse prematurely is that, while you need someone to lean on, you have to be that rock for your kids to lean on. I certainly did. My older son just turned 21 but is still learning to emote as an adult. For Christmas this year, I gave him and his little brother quilts made from her clothes. The other tricky part is learning to honor our lost loved ones without living in the past. I am doing everything to keep her memory alive with them. No matter what I do in the future, I will always love her and miss her.
Lindsey, it sounds to me like you are doing all you can. The quilt made of her clothes is wonderful. I think you’re awesome! It’s a little harder for boys to express their grief. So many people try not to cry in front of the kids, but letting them see the tears and telling them that you are sad shows them it’s okay to cry and talk about Julie. The empty place she left behind is where you all will feel the pain and the love. Share the memories often, especially the funny ones. You will always miss her, and you will always love the person she was. In time, the grief changes, moves inward and becomes more private. You and the kids won’t need to talk about her as much because you are each processing your emotions. There will still be sad days, but not the paralyzing kind. You don’t have to be strong all the time. I heal the most when I feel weak and tired and need the comfort of prayer to get through it. One day at a time. One hour at a time. Or one minute at a time if that’s all you can handle. Be kind to your heart as it learns to beat again. I’m sending you love and strength, Brenda P❤️

I just sent it to my sister. She's in the hospital with COVID19. She's only 51. She's a nurse and now in NP school. I always wanted to go to nursing school so she inspired me and gave me the courage to do it. I'm now 4 weeks in to the BSN nursing program here in Asheville.

my mom passed away 9 years ago today from a suicide with no warning. i talked to her and she was fine and the next morning i found her dead in her bedroom. no note or reason why. this song always reminded me of her too and makes me feel close to her on this day each year.

Bought a beautiful decoupage plaque with a music box on the back with this song for my Dad on Fathers Day about 20 years ago. HE was the WIND BENEATH MY WINGS!! He passed away 1 year ago tomorrow and the WIND HAS BEEN GONE SINCE HE PASSED. He's with my Mom again who passed away in 2016 and she was my rock (married 65 years before she passed) Hopefully will be with them soon. Covid 19 is really getting to me

My Mom n Dad had to bury my sister in 2016 and my brother in 2019 and my sisters daughter in 2021 and my dad in 2022, 2 weeks after my dad passed his sister died as well. The grief is never ending. My beloved dog who I raised for 11years passed award at the age of 15 this beginning of May. Despite being only a dog without the abilities that humans are endowed with, he means so much to our family and actually the wind beneath my family wing . I miss him a lot and my whole family , too. I wish we could meet him in the heaven.

I lost my heart dog in 2020 of almost 16 years. She was my best friend for ALL those years, so many things to describe Lollypop but she was loyal to ME and so loving to everyone. I will always have a sadness inside of me that will never go away. You lose a piece of you that no one or anything can bring back.

He helped me through domestic violence, illness and abuse from my mother (she has been abusing him verbally for like 45 years and six for me). He sacrificed his happiness for most of his life for his children. He has always always supported me, treated me with kindness. I probably wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him. He has helped me so much raising my son. Thank god for him. Thank you isn't enough.
