The fact that you haven’t faltered makes your dad happy and proud. As a great dad, he would want you to understand that, while he can give you guidance and tools, you do need to figure things out on your own. He passed away 1 year ago tomorrow and the WIND HAS BEEN GONE SINCE HE PASSED. I turned 40 last week and I am a cancer survivor from when I was 15 years old, my mother told me that this was her song to me. When I got married in 2007 this was the song I chose for her and I to dance to...and I sent this to her today as a reminder. Thanks to God both my parents are still alive, but I still shed a tear when I hear his song because I rarely get to see them both. Thanks be to God that I got to spend time with them both on my birthday, and so did my wife and our two sons. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

I just lost my spouse of 20 years this week, and her services were this morning. Her big sister wanted this played at the wake because it perfectly describes their relationship. Julie responded to her battle with breast cancer with dignity and grace because she knew she wanted to continue to be there for me and our two children. She never complained and never backed down from her fight. It was those qualities that made her big sister look up to her. We're going to miss her terribly. RIP Julie. Love ya!!

Lindsey, my heart breaks for your loss. It’s so heartbreaking to lose a loved one. Today is my Dad’s Birthday. He was my hero and my strength through the years. He and Mom both came from large families, but they are all gone now. I can’t imagine the grief you are experiencing. I’ve lost 2 children and every single person is special in their own way. I have come to understand that our loved one are watching over us. Time numbs the pain a bit so that you can function, but the grief moves inward, becoming more private. We never stop missing them. Eventually the happy memories will come back and they won’t make you as sad. Her strength of spirit is in your words. That strength will be with you still. She has never gone so far that she cannot love you. Say her name, often, speak to her, write her a letter, play her favorite song- even if it makes you cry. @beyondtheskye1 I don't think I can thank you enough for your kind words, Brenda. One thing that's tricky about losing a spouse prematurely is that, while you need someone to lean on, you have to be that rock for your kids to lean on. I certainly did. My older son just turned 21 but is still learning to emote as an adult. For Christmas this year, I gave him and his little brother quilts made from her clothes. The other tricky part is learning to honor our lost loved ones without living in the past. I am doing everything to keep her memory alive with them. No matter what I do in the future, I will always love her and miss her.
Lindsey, it sounds to me like you are doing all you can. The quilt made of her clothes is wonderful. I think you’re awesome! It’s a little harder for boys to express their grief. So many people try not to cry in front of the kids, but letting them see the tears and telling them that you are sad shows them it’s okay to cry and talk about Julie. The empty place she left behind is where you all will feel the pain and the love. Share the memories often, especially the funny ones. You will always miss her, and you will always love the person she was. In time, the grief changes, moves inward and becomes more private. You and the kids won’t need to talk about her as much because you are each processing your emotions. There will still be sad days, but not the paralyzing kind. You don’t have to be strong all the time. I heal the most when I feel weak and tired and need the comfort of prayer to get through it. One day at a time. One hour at a time. My daughter dedicated this me years ago. I was 17 when I had her. I had to let her go. She was premature and I had no support. We kept in touch due to that a family member raised her. When she got older, she understood. The part that says “ I know the truth” it brought me to tears.

I am a Cancer Survivor and I thought my family could finally rest after my struggle but we just found out my sister has stage 4 untreatable Cancer and was given a year to live. I turned 40 last week and I am a cancer survivor from when I was 15 years old, my mother told me that this was her song to me. When I got married in 2007 this was the song I chose for her and I to dance to...and I sent this to her today as a reminder. Thanks to God both my parents are still alive, but I still shed a tear when I hear his song because I rarely get to see them both. Thanks be to God that I got to spend time with them both on my birthday, and so did my wife and our two sons. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

My Mom n Dad had to bury my sister in 2016 and my brother in 2019 and my sisters daughter in 2021 and my dad in 2022, 2 weeks after my dad passed his sister died as well. The grief is never ending. I just lost my spouse of 20 years this week, and her services were this morning. Her big sister wanted this played at the wake because it perfectly describes their relationship. Julie responded to her battle with breast cancer with dignity and grace because she knew she wanted to continue to be there for me and our two children. She never complained and never backed down from her fight. It was those qualities that made her big sister look up to her. We're going to miss her terribly. RIP Julie. Love ya!!

Lindsey, my heart breaks for your loss. It’s so heartbreaking to lose a loved one. Today is my Dad’s Birthday. He was my hero and my strength through the years. He and Mom both came from large families, but they are all gone now. I can’t imagine the grief you are experiencing. I’ve lost 2 children and every single person is special in their own way. I have come to understand that our loved one are watching over us. Time numbs the pain a bit so that you can function, but the grief moves inward, becoming more private. We never stop missing them. Eventually the happy memories will come back and they won’t make you as sad. Her strength of spirit is in your words. That strength will be with you still. She has never gone so far that she cannot love you. Say her name, often, speak to her, write her a letter, play her favorite song- even if it makes you cry. Tears are our way of saying I Love You and I Miss You. They heal the pain in our soul. God bless you and your daughters ❤❤Brenda

One thing that's tricky about losing a spouse prematurely is that, while you need someone to lean on, you have to be that rock for your kids to lean on. I certainly did. My older son just turned 21 but is still learning to emote as an adult. For Christmas this year, I gave him and his little brother quilts made from her clothes. The other tricky part is learning to honor our lost loved ones without living in the past. I am doing everything to keep her memory alive with them. No matter what I do in the future, I will always love her and miss her.
Lindsey, it sounds to me like you are doing all you can. The quilt made of her clothes is wonderful. I think you’re awesome! It’s a little harder for boys to express their grief. So many people try not to cry in front of the kids, but letting them see the tears and telling them that you are sad shows them it’s okay to cry and talk about Julie. The empty place she left behind is where you all will feel the pain and the love. Share the memories often, especially the funny ones. You will always miss her, and you will always love the person she was. In time, the grief changes, moves inward and becomes more private. You and the kids won’t need to talk about her as much because you are each processing your emotions. There will still be sad days, but not the paralyzing kind. You don’t have to be strong all the time. I heal the most when I feel weak and tired and need the comfort of prayer to get through it. One day at a time. One hour at a time. Or one minute at a time if that’s all you can handle. Be kind to your heart as it learns to beat again. I’m sending you love and strength, Brenda P❤️
