Cheers for posting video mate. My mum has a Qashqai and dropped her key in a puddle. She dried it and carried on using the key after drying it but in the barrel as the keypess system.was internittent but itherwise it worked fine andd recognised tye key was present. She took to Nissan to get the key replaced and waited for over 3h while they fiddled about and they then told her that suddebly the car does not work at all and she would need to pay 1100£ for a new ignition system as the keyless transponder was supoosedly water damaged. As an engineer watchubg your video this smavks if them causing damage themselves either by doing something wrong with the key programming (this had taken them well iver an hour as they had problems with the programming system) or physically as water damage isnt going to suddenoy appear 3 weeks later without oresenting before. But nire inoirtantoy it doeant even aooear water coupd migrate from the barrep to the transponder. Apologies gor the massive nessage but your thoughts woukd be greatoy aooreciated. Cheers, Andy
yes, otherwise the keyway plug will not stay properly on the cylinder. On the last part of this video I reinstall the original roll pin. and inserted an additional chips of lead or any malleable metal on the drilled part to secure the pin.
@@darwin535 I’m guessing there’s no other way than to drill the pieces out, or could I smack that out to the other side if I had something small enough. I’ll have to be inventive on what I melt to get that pin to stay.
Geeezus.... they couldn't just put a little push rod or hole on the switch end that could be accessed once the switch was removed?! Gotto do this, so thank you very much for the vid! Boy what a pain in the ass though.

How important are those tiny pins you used a drill to get out? Once I re-install the cylinder do they need to go back in?
