    Actually a lot cheaper lol, well worth it, those small seals and foam pieces are not only expensive but extremely hard to find, other than in this box

    That kit seems like it was worth the investment. That is a lot of hardware!

    It is always nice to have the whole kit even if some don't need to be replaced. At the mileage of that motor, most of them probably could use a refresh. Nice video. It is nice to see videos like this

    Love your videos they are well done. Heads up as you probably know by now the foamy gaskets with peel-off adhesive are for the number 3 and number 4 timing belt cover. Keep up the good work. by the way my 3.0 had the Toyota recall gasket done by the previous owner. and out of nowhere, it blew again while I had stopped to get gas. It now has a multi-layer all-metal head gasket.

      Thank you! Question: Did you have to get the block decked in order to use the metal (MLS) head gasket?

      I second that question. But I'm guessing he probably did.

    Thank you for such informative videos on the venerable 3VZE! Do you know what material the OEM gaskets are? I've heard great things about MLS but I don't think the OEM ones are made of that material.

      I can't say for sure, but they look like the have a metal layer and a fiber layer. Definitely not MLS though. I think these gaskets are fairly forgiving for slightly imperfect mating surfaces. You have to think they made them to work well in a Toyota service department where they need to get the cars in and out quickly!

      @@PracticalEnthusiast interesting. I had my HG done three years ago, i don't know which ones the mechanic used, but I do know he sprayed a layer of permatex copper to each one. Forums are mixed, some say do it bc it creates a better seal, others say no bc toyota wouldn't do that. Any thoughts on what you plan on doing?

    Ur “thermostat” gasket is the water pump gasket

    What material is the head gasket made of? Is the mls head gasket good to use or not necessary because of the aluminium to iron on the engine?

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a fiber/metal composite gasket. I didn't go with a MLS gasket because it's recommended you get the block decked for it to work well, which I didn't want to do (it's a lot more work).

    I just replaced my intake gaskets and was all the way down to right before the heads. Put it back together and the head gaskets blew 😭 gotta take it all the way back down

    Sgt. Roos, John T. (Ret.) I owned a brand new Toyota Xtra Cab 1992 5 Spd, 2 wheel drive, but I didn't own it long enough to have needed a rebuild. My then ex wife wanted a VW Cabriolet... Maybe it was wiser to sell the Toyota... I did love the truck!:) Semper Fidelis
