If you want to build a castle, Corfe is the perfect place to build it. I grew up nearby in the 1950s, and often crept into the castle through a gap in the perimeter fence. It has probably been filled in by now.
Richard 2nd supposedly starved to death in Pontefract castle in 1399, Prince David of Scotland (eldest son of Robert 3rd) likewise in Falkland Palace in 1402. Not uncommon circumstances when you needed to remove someone in authority - it left no wound, no blood, no actual killer, just a lack of food/water, so you could say they just sort of died in captivity. Still thoroughly unpleasant though.
Thanks! Apologies about the wind, some people will no doubt moan about the mic quality, hence the subtitles. I do have a clip on wireless rode mic however I can't get them to work somehow! So a phone worked here! Thanks for your support!
Actually it wasn't Richard 3rd, but Richard Lionheart. Richard 3rd lived in the 15th century, not the 12th. King John took the throne while his brother was absent from England on the Crusades.

I have been there and was horrified at the cruelty of several of the early kings.
Whatever subject you post, it's Excellent in every way. Thank You!
Thank you for the well researched and excellently presented history lesson. Your narration voice is notable.
I love when you do in person videos! I agree!
And i dont care about the wind. The wind in endless and just talking with you
While viewing this from a 21st Century perspective, it's hard to imagine such a viscous, and slow, form of execution.
