I was listening to this one night on the high way after a road trip. Missed my exit, I was in the next town before I came to. True story

To be a young man in the time of Pharoah Sanders, Coltrane, Charles Llyod, etc. was wonderful.

I found Pharaoh's music engagingly profound. I initially encountered him through Astral Travels in the '70's, as I was putting my baby to sleep.
Almost 50 years later, my 1st grandchild was born on the same day as Pharoah. I've seen him many times over the years so he's been with me musically most of my life. I feel blessed to have experienced his excellence. Rest in power and peace, my brother, you will always be remembered.

When my daughter was new born she couldn’t sleep one night, about 2am, and I was standing there rocking her in my arms looking for strength and the lead line from the second part of this track came into my head. There I was, with my days old daughter, both of us in shock really, but I knew it was going to be alright. That I had the strength and we would flourish together - in love.
A couple of years later when my father passed I came home, lit a candle and put this on. That’s when I could begin to grieve.
This is music for the deep parts of life.
God bless Pharoah Sanders. Rest in Glory and Play High.

Pharoah Sanders is no doubt one of the greatest jazz musicians ever

Pharoah's evocative music has been an ongoing revelation for me since 1970. I was fortunate to catch his unique sound in different venues through the years, from Detroit to San Diego & beyond. Sadly, we've lost another jazz master, but Pharoah's profound musical legacy lives on! The journey continues....

NORBERT.

RIP to a true Master. Coltrane Live In Seattle featuring Pharoah was my introduction to avant-garde jazz. I hated it. But besides that, my brother had also left behind Pharoah’s Karma and Thembi when he went off to college. Those I loved. And then we got A Love Supreme Live In Seattle.
Funny how often the people who’s music just totally repulsed you when you first heard it becomes the stuff you love the most.

Back in 98 got many cheap Shepp and sanders reissue cds on impulse. Ok but nothing amazing compared to Coltrane etc. Older and wiser now, better ears. Pharaoh played here years ago (Aberdeen Scotland), grown men in tears etc. “Jazz is the teacher “ : Juan Atkins (Detroit DJ)

Pharaoh Pharaoh, saw this man when I was 22 years old. He was playing at a place called Smiling Dog Saloon in Cleveland Ohio. I was surprised at the low attendance. I remember Pharaoh saying,”oh well we are going to play”. That night was enlightening. I’ve been a devotee ever since. The man transformed me. The spiritual atttrbute that he possessed fit my spirit realm perfect.Thank you for your sharing and giving us a piece of you. Forever in my thoughts.
