- Today I will show you how to go about replacing your Intake and Exhaust Camshaft sensors as well as the Crankshaft Position sensor on a 2000 bmw 323i e46. These should all be very similar on all e46 models.
If you don't mind can you link the parts in the description im
having a hard time
Hey man, thanks for the video, could you give an update on how well the Holstein sensors have held up? Assuming they haven't gone bad? Lots of people saying aftermarket sensors are really uneliable...
My guy, thanks for showing folks the simple way of doing these swaps. No need to tear so much off.
I changed my sensors and now it gives error codes about end positions and runs like shit. Do you have to set them?
hey thanks for this video, a real help, not many out there.
Happy to help!
Top G both my cam sensors went out lol
You should only use genuine oem sensors
I have a e46 and that lower crankshaft sensor is wallowed out how do I get to it to put a tap in the bolt to get it out? Coming from under the car seems impossible
Have the cheapo aftermarket oarts held up over the course off a year?
They held up great until a few months ago when I swapped my b30 into the car!
What sensor was at the bottom. That’s a new one to me.
I have the same vehicle except mines the Touring 👍
That would be the crankshaft position sensor
You I can’t find the intake camshaft sensor in rock auto do you have a part number I couldn’t get it to zoom in the video
Have you spray painted your engine black?
I have a e46 m3 and my car just last night popped up and p0010 A (intake) camshaft position actuator bank 1 do you also think myn is in the front or myn Should be located on the back behind the intake manifold . Thank you
That should be the sensor that’s located near the front intake. Not 100% about the location on the s54 but it would imagine it’s the same as the m52/m54
Which one is actually the cam shaft position sensor? The second one in front or the one at the bottom? Of the car.
Both the ones on top are cams, bottom is crank
What headers are you using
Just some cheap eBay headers
Did those aftermarket sensors last?
I haven’t had any trouble with them so far

Thanks for the video. great help.
so after replacing the sensor, no need to reset anything using software?
You should have somebody re-calibrate them!
@@Shredder_Cocan you recalibrate them by an app or body shop ??
Please someone help with a suggestion . I have the code P0705 A Circuit
Gear sign and battery light on . The car can start in all Positions P,R,D,N .and when it starts it doesnt show which gear the car on the dashboard. instead I get transmision sign with the exclamation mark in Orange and this is when I can drive the car almost normally and the car can go reverse and from second gear and up but with no first gear and parking sensors are not beeping nor reverse lights working .but if I dont see the transmision fault sign, the car go only in first gear up 20km ph and doest change to second gear and up and no reverse .
I changed the transmission range sensor and bought a new battery and tested alternator with a specialist and said its fine which leaves me frustrated . The car is BMW e46 325i / 2001
same , did you fix it ?
@BANGNYAHAO yes the alternator was not giving required power . It was bad wiring . So it was fixed by new wiring from the alternator to the car computer
@@maximrabah2169 would i have to change the wires or came i just change the alternator ?
@BANGNYAHAO if your alternator is producing sufficient voltage and charging the battery .then try to change the wires specially the one that going to the ecu from the alternator
@BANGNYAHAO Plus change the reverse fuse just in case
u are the most Finnish looking person ever
Is that a good thing? 😂
@@Shredder_Co it is not really up to me
that sensor by the oil pan is a real pain but once you replaced it, youll feel amazing lol
Definitely not the most fun one to access lol
You sound exactly like danny mcbride
