- On October 17, 2018 WQXR presented mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča in an exclusive event recorded at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space in New York City. She was accompanied by Brian Zeger, Artistic Director of the Vocal Arts Department at The Juilliard School, on piano.

This is a very nice, dark mezzo voice. Still, there is a full richness that is lacking for me but I do believe it is simply the "instrument". Ms. Garanca has developed her voice very well obviously so kudos to her! At 1:22, she has an unfortunate tiny "slide" up to the D flat which is somewhat unacceptable being that this is not Puccini, however she seems to cover well on it. Also, strange that at about 2:22, she omits a note in the melody!! Not sure what happened there. This song is deceptively more difficult than it sounds! Mr. Zeger blurred the pedaling a bit at 2:44 (the harmony changes), but perhaps it was intentional due to the rather "dry" sound of this hall(?) Quality stuff nonetheless!
