Love these riad tours Colin. They are endlessly fascinating, enchanting, and well composed. And I half expect to see Sydney Greenstreet pop into the frame as you make your way along the wondrous labyrinthine passageways.
Of the fifty or sixty roads I've seen on your channel this is either the best or nearest second best! Golly and wow! (The other? Two big joined houses in the Jewish quarter [Mellah?], one serving as a charitable pharmacy.) Here, this house, all the work has been done. Great property, great video! Choukran! Regards.
all of the riyads in this channel are absolutely stunning. my question is what is the meaning or symbolism of a central courtyard, with or without a pool in all of its structures? thanks
Riad means 'garden' in arabic. It originates from Persian palace gardens. Palaces Always are protected structures with inner courtyards. The picture of heaven/paradise in many cultures is a garden, so it symbolisera heaven. Paradise is the perfect place, therefore it was Always symetrical as well, because symetry was seen as perfection. In the old days, nobels and rich merchants lived in Riads. I assume they as well wanted a protected structure and took inspiration from the Persian palaces. In the old days only the rich had gardens so it was a status thing. The courtyard architecture gives a quiet resting place from the buisy street and it's also the main source of daylight in Riads. Hope it helped,
The camera man is trying to show the context and the feel of the Riad.. its not a detailed video oriented style of video. It's meant to invite people to the culture of Morocco and aimed to sell, and to show architecture to the curious and interested people and most importantly the potential buyers. If you wanna look at the floor you can contact Colin and have a personal in person viewing.
The decorations just leave me breathless. What artistry!
The gold accents and details of the plaster work is gorgeous. I really enjoy seeing all the great properties on this channel.
Thank you for your kind words!
Breathtaking, this is one of my favorites. The light fixtures throughout are integral to the ambiance of sublime soothing interiors.

A stunning & traditional Riad. Pity the lighting was so poor in some areas , especially through the entrance and Salon.
Great price 👍🏽
Yes, poor lighting at the entrance. We did our best ...
Beautiful 😊❤
The TV monitor is out of place.
Very nice indeed
Cheers, Bruce!
👍
The camera guy needs to explore more. Look down, show details.
