There is one large difference between Stray Kids and other kpop groups. As you mentioned, most kpop groups are made up of talents that the company picked and put together. Not so with Stray Kids. JYP Entertainment took a new approach and decided to have Bang Chan (the leader) put together a group on his own as he had been a trainee for a long time (7 year trainee). Bang Chan picked all his members on his own. They did do a "survival" show to debut, but the show was the group as 9 members (originally 9, one left in 2019) against JYPE and whether they would all debut together or not. I hope you do more Stray Kids - They have more songs they did on The First Take channel. Mostly Japanese songs (because the channel is a Japanese channel), Mixtape: OH is special because it's the first time this channel allowed a non Japanese song. I would recommend all Stray Kids First Takes: Scars, Slump, Lost Me, Case 143.
Edited to add: The member that left in 2019 was actually the main vocal of the group. The rest took it upon themselves to further their own vocal skills even more. One of my favorite songs by them is a stage they did just after that member left and it's just them, singing on the stage, doing an OST song for a Kdrama (drama is called Extraordinary You) called The Story That Never Ends (or The Never Ending Story). That's another recommendation. You can tell it's live vocals (yes there is a backing track).

The one that Chase said was his favorite, his name is Seungmin, and you guys have actually reacted to him before about 8 months ago on the live performance called "Love Poem". He was actually the one on the right! The Love Poem performance was taken place on a competitive series called " Kingdom: Legendary War" where other K-pop groups compete to win and specifically for Love Poem, it was a combined performance for vocals with two other groups called Ateez and BTOB. Stray Kids have a lot of amazing live performances from kingdom you should totally react to!!!
I came here to say this! Also Seungmin, I.N. and Lee Know, as well as Jongho(Ateez, who was the singer on the right on love poem) all use the same vocal coach, who is also Baekhyun's of EXO's coach

whats especially cool about stray kids is that they're a rap-heavy group, and while they have some of the absolute best rappers in the industry with the sickest flow and speed, they also have some really powerful vocalists (seungmin, the guy you noticed), in fact their rapper (Han) actually belts out really, really good high notes. Also the fact that instead of the company picking out the members, their leader selected each member himself, and they just so amazing at what they do! they also fully produce and write their own music.
Also i love your reaction, its super interesting to see professionals dissect and understand why smth sounds so good to us. i would recommend reacting to their album makings and recording behind the scenes. they are super interesting, technique wise!

The main vocalist can also rap (seungmin who wore a tea green sweater)
The main rapper can hit high notes and is always beside the main vocalist when singing difficult songs. (Han with the white and red linen sweater)
The main dancer and dance leader can rap and can hit high notes like a main vocalist (lee know with the red sweater and black beret)
Their leader Bangchan is the 3rd most credited idol with 180 songs, and while he doesn’t take center very much in recent days, his voice is hidden in the track providing harmonic glue to all their music. These boys epitomize artists.
I’d suggest watching their live stage of Leave released a few weeks ago. It’s beautiful. I’d also recommend Kingdom Legendary War’s version of Love Poem. It features stray kids’ vocalist Seungmin with members from two other groups (BtoB and Ateez). And Seungmin, Han and I.N each have episodes on Lee Mujin Service which showcases live solos and a duet with the host of the show.
Editing to say: you’ve already seen Love Poem! Oops! Can I recommend their cover of I’ll be your man from Kingdom instead?
I also want to hear their commentary on I'll Be Your Man! That performance was SO GOOD and I am fully convinced that the scoring in that episode was rigged to make it appear balanced because Stray Kids kept holding the top spot (the only reason I can see the results being what they were is if they weighted I.N's disappointment in his performance more heavily since self-evaluation was a part of the scoring [which I believe he didn't need to be as upset but I understand he's a perfectionist])

Stray kids are a group that most of the world needs to hear. All of their music has meaning and speaks to a lot of what youth goes through growing up. This is by far, for me, the best KPOP group to ever exist!!!!
3-4 members have actually changed their singing style since this performance. The thing I really love about Stray Kids is they are so passionate about music either when they’re producing or writing or when they practice non stop and improve their skills.
You both definitely need to watch Seungmin, I.N, and Han on Lee Mujin Service where they sing and talk about how and why they change their singing style. Also recommend Lee Know’s live performance of Limbo, our main dancer who has a passion for singing.
++ I recommend you guys check 3 members who went to king of masked singers, our 2 main rapper, Changbin and Han, and our lead vocalist Seungmin.
+++ concert performance I would recommend is Waiting for us and Lonely St.!!!!

I will never tire of people giving Kim Seungmin and Lee Minho their flowers lol. Easily some of my favourite voices in Stray Kids singing wise.
Also, Jisung didn't want to be a singer. He can just sing very well too lol. He's a great vocalist and a great rapper. Easily one of the most talented kpop idols I've ever come across and one of the few that exemplifies what it means to be all-rounder.
well technically, jisung would be an ace, seeing as he writes, composes, and produces as well as being amazing at singing, rapping, and dancing !!
Straykids are a self-written and self-produced group (by their subunit 3RACHA consisting of leader Bangchan, Han and Changbin) and they’ve been on The First Take four or five times now. They are also unique in that Chan put together 3RACHA and they wrote and rapped together for awhile and then they picked other members to add to their group. The company wasn’t involved in choosing them so much like other groups. They are incredibly talented, please check out their other songs! Also, Chase’s favorite is Seungmin, who you guys saw perform Love Poem with Eunhyuk from BTOB and Jongho from Ateez!!!
Chan picked all the members himself not just 3racha.
I realize this is not the main focus but fyi- this group was formed by the leader and not the company making them a little unique. They have improved in their voices so listening to the latest comeback song “cover me” shines their voices. Recommend you listening to that song.

everyone's already pointed out that Bang Chan picked the members of the group, but i just want to reiterate how impressive it is that a 20 year old trainee, rather than a team of professionals, put together a group that is so talented and goes so well together in every aspect. really enjoyed your reaction, i recommend checking out their performance of "scars" on the first take as well!
9:53 Your favourite is Seungmin! He's technically their main singer. And this actually isn't the first time you guys have seen him as he was the stray kids member in the Love Poem collab stage you reacted to a while back. I also really love his voice, just like you guys said it is very straight forward tone that's so pleasant to listen to. Seungmin, along with members I.N (you talked about him here 11:46) and Lee Know (who you talked about here 12:55) have been paying for voice lessons outside of their hectic schedules, and that really does show the passion and respect they have to working on their voices and the skill of singing. I love that about Kpop too, everyone is such a hard worker and you really get to hear that through their work. This video was only 2 years ago but everyone has improved a ton since, it is great to see. Hope to see more Stray Kids First take reactions from you guys !! (their most recent one was of their song "Lost Me" from earlier this year).
Honestly as a fan of theirs I'm overconfident in their live performances so any other reaction of them would be wonderful, but the first take for SLUMP is a must watch. The song is written by Han (one of the members) and the lyrics is very touching. By the way they write and compose 100% of their songs themselves, while producing most of them also.
☝Another suggestion is Han, Seungmin or IN on "Lee Mujin Service", a show where they sing live songs that they choose.

Seungmin deserves to be a favourite
The guy you pointed out that you really liked his singing is Seungmin. Not sure if you remember, but you did a video on Love Poem - the Mayfly (from Kingdom: Legendary War) vocal team made up of BtoB, Ateez, and Stray Kids. And he was one of those three. I'm re-watching the Love Poem video right now. Love that song by those three so much.
Stray kids are AMAZING all arounders! They can all sing VERY well, rap VERY well and dance VERY well. They also write and produce majority of their music. You should check out pretty much any of their songs.

If you’re interested in checking out more live stages from them I’d highly recommend some more of their first takes (lost me, case 143 Japanese version, scars, and slump), their live performances of leave and megaverse, or some of them performing live on the show Lee Mujin Service! Some background information on skz: the group was formed in 2017 by the leader of the group Bang Chan who was given the opportunity due to the fact that he had trained for 7 years prior to this so he was given the opportunity to make a group and then competed on a survival show for all of the members to debut. There are 3 subunits within skz 3racha who were a predebut rap unit with Chan, Changbin, and Han that transitioned into the producing unit of skz with the members working on pretty much every single song and the three members being the most credited 4th gen idols and some of the top credited idols overall. There’s also danceracha with the members Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Felix who’s primary focus is on dance and you’ll often see them helping other members with dances or doing their own solo dance projects. The last unit is vocalracha with the youngest two members Seungmin and IN who are two of the members you’ll pretty much always hear on the vocals. They also have a bunch of solo covers and Seungmin also has 2 solo OSTs for 2 kdramas. Overall they’re incredibly talented and hard working and I hope you choose to check out more of their music!!

you said you really liked Seungmin- he's so committed to vocal training and takes his craft very seriously, he has a lot of passion for singing. he and the other vocalists really had to step up after their main vocalist left in 2019, so it's been great to see them improve as vocalists over the years, especially seungmin who has sort of taken on the role of main vocalist (though SKZ don't have official roles)

i VERY VERY heavily recommend one of their bsides from their newest album Rock Star, the songs called Cover Me. I honesty believe that this is one of their most heaviest vocal song in their entire discography its just so good

Rappers in Stray Kids could be vocalist which why we like to say they don’t have official position. Han, Changbin, Felix and Hyunjin sounds so beautiful when they sing. Bang Chan ( the leader ) who like to let the others shine is an amazing vocalist, Seungmin the one you like is always impressing, I.N and Lee Know ( the one who sing at the very end ) they’re always improving themselves, such beautiful voices.

Stray Kids are amazing and their work ethic is incredible. So talented, producing their own songs, continuously working to improve the,selves (taking vocal lessons even after reaching the global level of success they have), dancing, rapping. They put an incredible amount of work into their craft and produce great music. First Take is a Japanese show and Stray Kids is one of the very few Korean acts that was invited to sing there. They have another couple of songs on First Take. I think you would also find interesting to watch Stray Kids recording in the Studio (again they are one of the few Kpop groups who provides footage of that). Looking forward to more Stray Kids reactions.

I think everyone told you already, but the fact they were not handpicked by the company, but by their leader as an experiment is huge. Bangchan picked two guys and formed a production team 3Racha. Then JYP Entertainment let him pick a group of trainees. He handpicked and showed their boss how good they were together with songs themselves wrote, perform and produce.

Btw Seungmin is the main vocalist of Stray Kids. Before that there was 9th member of the group as a main vocalist but left the group in the end of 2019 (Skz debuted in 2018). After that Seungmin took the main vocalist role and worked so hard to be able to success that. He continues to improve each day with his vocal coach, we appreciate his efforts so much. I love listening to reactors who are embedded in music and the industry because, while I enjoy all music and can carry a tune, want to hear the opinions of an artist's peers and it is fascinating to know if we caught the same things.. As an American old lady Stay who loves all genres and styles of music, kpop and really STRAY KIDS has a grip on me. Partof it has to do the assessment about the differences between kpop and Western music styles. There is just something super intriguing about the kpop approach and while many companies in the US have tried (*Making the Band), nothing has really caught on here in the US in terms of approach (I think independence and the you-cant-tell-me-what-to-do attitude will always push back here in the states, but I digress).
Stray Kids are cut from a different cloth and are so different in a sea of the same, IMO. The bar they set for me is pretty high. Other Kpop groups might claim to have better individual members, but Stray Kids truly has it all: they produce, write, sing, rap, dance, and seem like good humans. And they do it all very well and it doesn't hurt to look at them.

Stray Kids! So excited you reacted to them. They are amazing. I absolutely LOVE their "Lost Me" performance also on First Take. It's also a little more recent than this one and with more singing (less rapping) so you can see more of all of the members vocals and how their vocals have improved since then.
Welcome to the Stray Kids rabbit hole! They are so fantastic and will amaze you at every turn. I beg you to watch all of their First Take episodes. So good!
Also, the one you talk about at 9:50 - his name is Seungmin. He trains incredibly hard vocally still. You should also listen to his OST called Here Always. So beautiful. Watch the version that has him and show snippets. Adds a lot of meaning to it all.
The beautiful thing about Stray Kids is that many of them take singing classes to this day, people used to criticize them for their noisy music and the lack of melody in their songs but instead of getting carried away by comments they decided to take their work seriously. They are one of the few idols who still sing live on music shows and their songs usually have quite high notes so they challenge themselves a lot vocally. Seungmin (9:40), the one that caught your attention, was the main vocalist of the group (SKZ themselves no longer have positions so everyone can sing, dance and rap) at that time he was using brackets so it's really difficult to sing like that but he really did it amazing, his voice is amazing. Lee Know (12:44), the one with the beret is the one who had the least training time, he was officially a trainee for only 1 or 2 months and then he was selected to debut, he, like Seungmin and I.N, take singing classes. As for Han (14:07), yes, he is a rapper but he is also very good at singing, in fact he usually takes the high notes of the songs and is quite agile vocally.
I love it! Stray kids are the best! You must analyze more of them.
I really love their performances on The Fisrt Take because you can still catch some mistakes, like what you mention with seumgmin, missing parts, or some delayed entrance. But you can also really appreciate their talent, their techniques, their differences

Also skz are the first kpop group to be invited to the first take, a Japanese channel. In japan they really value live singing skills so it speaks volumes of how dedicated and talented stray kids are

Stray Kids are one of the very few groups in which the leader chose all the members, and they produce pretty much all of their own songs. I love their First Takes of "Slump " and " Scars"

I agree with you k-pop has some of the best entertainers that I have ever seen in my 50 plus years. I have been in to kpop 4 years now and just love the vocals, rap and dance performances. They go above and beyond for their craft. That being said Stray Kids are a little different very unique. They are the first group ever to have the leader hand pick his members. The leader Bang Chan trained with JYPE for 7 years from the age of 13 years old. He is the one that named the group and the stray kids logo is from his own hand writing. He named the fandom Stay (not a typo).No company in the k-pop industry has ever let a group have so much control to pick his own members, and control on what they produce or release. Bang Chan has many friends he trained with in the industry who made it and those who didn't debut. Bang Chan is one of the most talented people I know in the business and one of the most caring and protective person I have seen in this industry. Not only did he hand picked his members, he can play the guitar and piano and trained in ballet and jazz dancing. He is the brains behind the scenes, creates the beats, arranges melodies and one of the 3 producers for Stray Kids music. He writes and composes 99.9% their music with 2 other members Han & Changbin. These 3 members are called 3Racha that is the producing team for stray kids. They also the original first members and have their rap songs. Felix was born in Australia has one of the best vocal ranges and tones. Han who is a rapper and a vocalist is called the ace of the group he really excels at both of them and does it effortlessly. He can hit the high notes. really each member is amazingly talented and they just keep getting better. The truly love what they do. They love being with each other and love singing and preforming onstage. Yes they are my first love of kpop. I have had the pleasure of seeing them perform live in the US, with 30,000 other people and everyone of us fans sang every song of theirs the whole concert.
Love to see more of your views on other stray kids songs. And other groups / idols. Kard is a coed k-pop group that are amazing. 2 girls & 2 guys, also Woodz is a solo idol Feel Like m/v that use to be in a Chinese group, Kang Daniel solo idol great vocalist. MonstaX group, Park Ji Hoon is actor / solo k-pop idol, Gaho with song Right Now, Max Changmin with Devil m/v or Chocolate m/v. What I love about k-pop its not really k-pop its not all hip hop it is so much more and so much genres and just beautiful vocals. With Stray kids you get all that in one song. hahaha the love to experiment and growth. All ways testing the boundaries of their music and writing skills.

Stray Kids is one of the most complete groups, the best of the 4th gen of kpop. They have more "The First Take" videos !! AND PLEASEE !! react the Dingo Killing Voice of NCT DREAM !! They are also AMAIZING singers !!

Also stray kids were the first Korean group to be invited onto the first take, which was strictly for Japanese artists. they were invited bc of an Anime OST they did called “SLUMP”! They have quite a few performances on that channel. I’d also recommend a live concert performance, their “My Pace” performance it’s the 2019 live Japan showcase one! They also have behind the scenes of their album recordings which you guys would probably like, stray kids produce and write all their own music so 3racha (Chan, Han and changbin who are 3 of the members of the group) direct and write and produce everything

I'm so glad you enjoyed Stray Kids! This is from a couple of years ago. They have all just kept improving since and still choose to take regular vocal lessons. Seungmin in particular has been very dedicated to making his voice the best it can be. (He was your favourite vocalist.) Their vocals are so strong, even when dancing VERY energetically on stage.
For some of their other First Takes, one from earlier this year called Lost Me is the most recent, I think. I also love Slump from three years ago, and Scars from two years ago.
If you want live stage performances, they have a video on the Stray Kids channel of them performing a song called Leave just a couple of weeks ago, which is from their new album. They also have a live performance of Megaverse from that same album if you want to see the more intense side of their music.
Stray Kids are an incredible gathering of talent. As others have said, the leader, Bangchan, was the one who chose the group members from among the trainees at their company, JYP. It was an experiment by JYP, to see how it would work out to have a group that was not selected by the company.
From the very beginning, they have written and produced their own music, mainly three members of the group (leader Bangchan, Changbin and Han) who collectively go by 3Racha. All of the members have songwriting credits, though.
When 3Racha wrote the very first songs for the group, they were only 16,18 and 19. This was also part of the experiment, for them to be the ones responsible for the entire process. They have even always done their own vocal direction during recording. They are an incredible trio who like to experiment with different genres in their music.
If you look at anything in their first year and a half, there will be a ninth member, a vocalist called Woojin. He left the group in the autumn of 2019.
I really hope you cover some more Stray Kids. They're definitely a group worth knowing.

So glad to see you guys react to Stray Kids!! I think they're maybe THE most stable singers in kpop right now considering the difficulty of the choreo they do as well. They have a few other "First Take" recordings that are all beautiful, and their awards show performances go all out - GDA 2024 and all MAMA years are my favorite. They also won a boy group competition show called Kingdom with some truly incredible stages there as well. Would highly recommend!

As a Stay, I never grow tired of listening to them or having others discover them. I really recommend the other SKZ First Take, they are all amazing, Lost me is their most recent on that show, so that might be cool to see how they have grown from this performance to that one.

I'm excited to see you react more on Stray Kids!!!! Their First Take's video is soooo good. Btw if anyone havent told you yet, they make their own music. They creates their own sound and they are extremely proud of it.
Similarly like Seventeen who has Woozi as their main producer, Stray Kids got their own producer unit!
They have a producer unit called 3RACHA in their team consists of Bang Chan (the leader) also known as his producer alias - CB97, Changbin (the main rapper), his producer alias is SpearB and lastly the maknae of 3RACHA, HAN (the other main rapper/ main vocalist position stealer).
3RACHA was the base/founder of Stray Kids, they were actively posted their music in Sound Cloud in their teens/trainee days. From 3RACHA, Bang Chan was entrusted by JYPE to formed his own group 😊
Over the years, all the members also participate in making music and they always release their solo songs through their youtube channel. They have their own solo/unit project songs' playlist called SKZ-Record.
They are a bunch of extremely talented people! Their vocal line (Unit name is VocalRacha) can easily transforms into rappers, their rappers (3RACHA) is skilled enough to be vocalist in any other group and their dancer line (DanceRacha) can easily challeges the vocal & rapper position!
Stray kids is such an AMAZING GROUP!!! I have been a Stay fore quite some time and your comment that they are picked from, "the best of the best of the best" really touched me. Especially so since Bang Chan hand-picked all the members himself.

OMG YEY FINALLY hehe. welcome to straykids. They're my absolute faves because they're all all-rounders, self produced and the leader actually made the group too! They're unique and so talented. Would be really cool if you checked out some o their other first takes and kingdom performances too
came for the stray kids reaction, stayed for the singing pointers! honestly all your points on recorded vs live music, nasal resonance, etc are all things i've never thought on before
14:05 - Yes, that's the rapper. His vocal abilities are actually incredibly amazing, he knows so many different techniques and is great at them. For the main rapper of the group, who performs the most difficult parts in that position, he also takes the highest notes in the group. He can literally pull off any style of song whether it be ballad, rock, etc. His voice itself is very flexible. It can be deep, high, soft, nasal or raspy. And he knows how to use it wisely. Everyone in the band has their own vocal ability. While not everyone can rap and not at a high level, the vocalists from everyone in this group are pretty good, and they are all very interesting to parse. I recommend watching all of their first takes, each one has something interesting to say about their performance. There are also great performances like "I'll Be Your Man" with incredible vocal pirouettes performed by the members of this band. And, of course, I would like to mention such a show on youtube as "lee minjun service". This is a small meeting of the band members with the vocalist, where they comfortably spend time for brief conversations and sing different songs. On this show, there were Seungmin, Han, and I.N. I VERY recommend these videos, I'm sure you'll find a lot of points to discuss, because there the guys sing completely different songs with different genres, showing the abilities of their voice and skills. Not maximally broad, but pretty tangible. And thank you for reaction!
