Any of the cops who aren’t kind to these kinds of people are only mad because now they have to do more work.
It’s really sick that people would get mad at anyone for solving a crime.

    • @DawesyD

If I lived in the states I would love to help these guys even if just for logistics and map planning for places to search.
I’ve been a cop for 18years (still serving) and a qualified specialist Land Search and Rescue Mission Controller who runs the search utilising police and outside agencies. I also have to make the critical decisions and have oversight of everything.
Land and sea search’s aren’t as simple as going to where they were last seen especially if that is unknown.
So to work out areas of interest and search area size and location we use graphs, science, math and data to work out the best places to search.
we have to factor in - time of day, time missing, weather conditions,(past, present and future), density of land, ground conditions/hard/soft, terrain, physical boundaries, persons age weight fitness, mental/medical issues, mode of transport, paths of least resistance, required medications, clothing worn, level of preparedness for elements, food, water, also possible Last Known Position/Location (via CCTV, family, witness, locating vehicle etc), an area the person likes to go to, public transport, hospitals patients, John or Jane Doe’s at morgue, phone triangulation, bank transactions, flights etc etc. the list goes on.
Using all that information you will understand their survivability, areas to start searching, how big the radius would be, how far apart to spread your searchers as we need a high percentage of the areas searched to rule them out. So if they come back and they have only searched below 80% of that search zone due to thick bush, caves, water, not accessible areas then we reduce the spacings between the searches or bring in search helo’s, planes, drones, boats etc.
we may even me lucky to find some foot/tyre tracks or other tracking signs that could lead us to them.
I have a passion in finding answers for the families of missing loved ones, bringing the person home, avoidance of a member of the public finding a body and being distraught.etc
My main skills are in searching the bush and tracking. Im not great in marine and have no sonar training.

@@hannakinn I agree with all that you wrote, and just wanted to add, from the perspective of a person who started 2020 in a locked psych facility for major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts, that it's possible to care very deeply about your loved ones and still want to die. If self loathing is part of your pathology, it's really easy to convince yourself that you would be doing those you love a kindness by stepping away. No longer a burden.
How I wish Ben had reached for help before the despair overwhelmed him.

I’m an avid AWP viewer. Been watching you guys since Jared was cleaning up the waterways. I live in Anne Arundel Co. I live just south of where Benjamin lived, in Deale. So this case for Doug, has to be one of the toughest he’s ever faced. In past cases, it was hard enough for AWP in towns where there were a few lakes, ponds or even rivers. Here in AA county, we have so many different waterways, but around that perimeter that AWP utilizes, we have the Magothy, Severn & South Rivers that surround Benjamin’s home. We have all of the creeks and of course, the Chesapeake Bay. So there are so many different areas where this gentleman could have gone to. Proud to have AWP help one of the best, if not THE best, AACO Police, our local law enforcement and the family of Benjamin. Can’t wait to see part 2. I hope Doug and his team finds Benjamin to bring some type of closure to Benjamin’s family. Thank you AWP, for coming across country from your homes on the west coast, in Oregon, to our beautiful state, on the east coast. I’ve driven back and forth to Texas, for work. Though it isn’t as much of a drive as AWP had to make, but it is a trek, so I can relate to it. Best of luck, AWP and thank you for helping out all of the families, but now it’s hit home and you’re here to help us. So thank you so much from everyone here. Good luck, Doug & Carson. You’re the best, so do what you do. 👍🏼
Also, just a message to anyone having troubles in their lives and has had thoughts of hurting themselves. Guys, it isn’t as bad as it seems. Yes, I’ve been there. So yes, I can make that statement. There are so many people that are here to help you. I know sometimes we think that we don’t have anyone. That we don’t have anyone that loves us. I’ve been there, but there is always someone that adores you. Don’t break their hearts. Call someone. Contact Doug or Jared. They know how to help you. Call your local authorities. They can help you. Guys, PLEASE, life is precious and we don’t know what tomorrow brings, as it is. So please talk to someone before you take that drastic step. You’ll be so glad you called them. I promise you and I never make a promise I can’t keep. Make the call, guys. ❤️

Giving the missing peace, and the family. So many victims, no matter how they went missing, need representation. I just watched a video from a criminal defense lawyer who was upset that Netflix was sensationalizing Jeffery Dahmer, years after his own demise. Not once did they consider the victims or the families! You give the missing a voice and the family. Thank you all for what you do.

Hello Doug and team. It sounds like Benjamin's life was centered around home and church. I am guessing he is not far from one of them. If the note doesn't hold any clues to the location, his routine will. Wish you the best in finding and bringing him home. Maybe a discussion with the pastor could shed some light.

I live here and have some insight.
I have had a boat at the boat hotel at Podickory point. You need a key card to open the gate for you and guests. the boat ramp is on the side not towards the bay. It is very expensive and hard to find unless you know where you are going. It is only open to people that pay for slips
The Fairwinds Marina, my friends family owned that. During 2012 I frequently stayed at a house that is outside of the marina. The entry way is on the back side of the house I stayed at. Its a rental house the marina owned that you had to pass to get into the marina. Its a gated marina that is at the back of the neighborhood. While it is open during the day there are people that work out of the boat shop and frequently test boats out of the boat ramp. The shop overlooks the boat ramp. When the marina is closed the gate is locked and there are houses on the property the owners live in.
The Deep Creek Marina boat ramp is across from what used to be Deep Creek Restaurant which is now named another restaurant that is open all year round and they have a bar that overlooks the boat ramp.
Sandy Point there are park rangers that you have to pay or have a pass to enter the park.
AACP should have been more informative of your time

That detective is great. Perhaps seeing videos like these where law enforcement is reaching out to you guys, it will make other districts take note.
That was a very big statement "We're going to find him today, or tomorrow". I'm glad that was said to the detective (who won't be saddened if it doesn't happen)! Big warm hugs, you guys. Love what you are doing!

But what residents or businesses were there in 2012? Carson, it is unique how you get a notion where something is. I don't know what your faith system is, but I have had God in my life since I was a child and I'm 72 now. When I lose something, I always say "God, you know where it is please help me to find it." And most every time it is found instantly. You remind me of what I do. God bless all of you out in boats searching.

I sometimes worry that changes to the waterfront over the intervening years may cause you to miss something.
New homes on previously vacant properties, additions to marinas, sea-walls/breakwaters, or boat-ramps, all could potentially hide a target!
