I'm more paranoid of mosquitoes. And they are the worst. They kill more people, then any other animal on earth, and when they are not killing, with the spread of disease, they're a nuisance with their itchy bites. When i was 8 yrs old i used to remove ticks from random stray dogs and then torture it to the point where even a person with a phobia of insects would have sympathy for those ticks. I used to pluck most of their legs and mouth and leave them in the wild as crippled useless bugs, i did the same with mosquitoes but instead of ripping legs i used to just rip their wings off and leave them to die due to starvation.

For me, the genocide of human mosquitoes, would be one of the best days of my life. Scientists can kill all of them, but they are worried about the animals that eat mosquitoes. I think they should find mosquito alternatives for those animals, and wipe the mosquitoes out. The ones that are a threat & nuisance to us.

I got lucky, and didn't rip out the mouth, but it was a close one. I still treated it with alchohol, and put a bandage over it. I hate ticks.

From what I understand, if it dropped from your hair, it might have laid eggs already, so I would go to the doctor for medical advice, right away! Just to be on the safe side, but acting fast is the key.
Wrong! If you pull the tick off, it's head can get embedded in your pet. Ticks breath through their skin/body. Coat the tick with Vaseline. Let it sit for 5 minutes or so, and then you can just lift it off. The tick is sticky, so it won't fall off. It won't be able to breath and have to detach it's self. I know it works, I just did it an hour ago on my shepherd. Toothpaste should work too.

I did. I took in a stray dog and she was LOADED with fleas, live ticks and all these nasty bumps from where she had big bloated ticks that she scratched at and broke the mouth parts off. It looked like a giant blackhead pimple...slightly raised round area with the black mouth part in the center. Paramite took care of the live ticks and fleas. Can't buy it anymore. Best stuff ever.

chudzo skruo It was the heads...really yucky and stuck in there, I could not remove them without a tweezer and having to dig them out and cause further pain and suffering, so I left them in until they eventually festered out. The other ticks died and fell off after applying Paramite (vet prescription) but those heads/mouthparts were in there for a long time. I've had several dogs since then and never saw that happen with them. The dog with the mouthparts in her skin was a stray which lived on the street. Once I took her in she got taken care of by a vet- antibiotics, etc.

mabay instead of wishing extinction on ticks and fleas, you should always give your dog or cat a bath after going outside and take him/her to the vet to prevent and infestation in the first place.
I have 5 puppies and 2 full grown German shepard's who get ticks at least twice a day since we live in the country. My dog gets a tick, then when she tries to feed the pups it spreads which is horrible for pups this age (4 weeks)
I had several on me just in the last two weeks. Only one managed to dig in. I sprayed krown rust spray on it. He wasn't long letting go. Within two seconds he was in reverse !!!
Forget the tweezers. Just put on a pair of latex gloves, grab tick and slowly pull. It may take a moment, but they will let go. Now keep holding the tick and pull glove off your hand. Now tick is in glove. Tie end of glove. :)

I already have tried to tear out tick by force not only once and head has never been broken.

But i already have seen how the dog scratched tick and cutted it in half. Not only mouth. Since that story about broken mouth of tick is speaking about just something really little appearing deeply in the skin. Are you sure that it was something like that?
But another strange on this is that tick is not sucked deep in the skin as the story used to say.

Today I found a tick outside it went on me I think it was drinking my blood.
mabay instead of wishing extinction on ticks and fleas, you should always give your dog or cat a bath after going outside and take him/her to the vet to prevent and infestation in the first place.

I have 5 puppies and 2 full grown German shepard's who get ticks at least twice a day since we live in the country. My dog gets a tick, then when she tries to feed the pups it spreads which is horrible for pups this age (4 weeks)
How are the pups now?

I went in a forest yesterday and found 22 ticks on my body. It was disgusting.
I had several on me just in the last two weeks. Only one managed to dig in. I sprayed krown rust spray on it. He wasn't long letting go. Within two seconds he was in reverse !!!
Forget the tweezers. Just put on a pair of latex gloves, grab tick and slowly pull. It may take a moment, but they will let go. Now keep holding the tick and pull glove off your hand. Now tick is in glove. Tie end of glove. :)
