The Woodcock in Bryant Park

This rather inconspicuous looking bird, the Woodcock, is a frequent visitor to our relatively small Bryant Park in New York City. There are several theories as to why the Timberdoodle visits our little park. It is an oasis in the middle of tall buildings, some may get trapped as there can be as many as 50 injured in a day and brought to the Wild Bird Fund in March. I like to think it is the camouflage and plentiful grubs and worms. After all, would they be here if it were merely a parking lot?
