    What most people don't get about Fred is that there's a huge amount of "put on" in what he does. If he doesn't know an accent, for example, he'll just fake it, then he'll throw in a few specific details to sell it. It's all done with a wink and a nod. It's like he's saying, "I can't believe they're buying it."

    He can't do the accents exactly, that's not the point anyway. Just like with all the characters he does, he's giving you his take from his memory on a certain idea about the way someone talks. The reason it's funny is because his take on it is skewed, just like anyone's would be. He just gets closer to real thing than most people.

    The accent in San Antonio (my hometown) is influenced a lot by the military presence there, along with the Hispanic population. So, the accent in San Antonio is almost non-existence (well, to me anyway HAHA!). My sister has a strong San Antonian accent. She says, "Thank YEW!" and I tease her about this. But it's slower rhythm wise. People here in south Texas can usually tell if you're from north Texas, West Texas, or East Texas. North Texas is, as you say, more "serious and business like". West Texas has the strong drawl, and East Texas is more "southern." But, of course, I love hearing these accents since it tells me that you pay attention to people and since I love my state, I love that you pay attention to the people here.
    I lived in Michigan for 18 years and noticed how the accent there seems heavily influenced by the Irish who settled there in the 1800s. The accent there is very nasal too and I tried to imitate this way of speaking. I notice, for example, that they say "hunnerds" instead of "hundreds" and "avery" instead of "every." I can always tell if someone is from Michigan.

      @GMOFoodsaregood 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      King Kebo of course there are some differences, but that’s not the point of his joke. The joke is that he’s convincing large numbers of people that he’s an accent wizard. He’s actually just using a stereotype of the people of a given city (“loud”, “reserved”) to convince large numbers of folks that he’s really doing what he’s claiming he’s doing.
