The City of Surprise's Fastest Operator!

  • Meet Dave, one of the coolest operators I've been with on route knocking out a heavy post Christmas recycling area on a Monday. I had the pleasure to watch him dominate a route, that he actually subbed in for a driver. He's done 280 cans an hour with this truck, and got a whole entire recycle route in (over 930 containers worth) and finished a little after 11:30 AM (The city drivers typically start route around 6:15-6:30 AM).
    About this truck, the city of Surprise bought the first four Scorpion full ejects made (7670, 7671, 7672, & 7673) as the landfill they use is completely unsafe. They will be buying more in the future, likely on Peterbilts. In the beginning, you'll see him fully loaded still getting recycle cans in before heading to the transfer station (got nearly 8 tons of recycle), and then empty back on route. Enjoy the video!

    Nothing beats an experienced driver behind the wheel of a fast truck! These full eject units are really fun to watch. Hopefully Phoenix invests in some of these in the future! Great footage!!

      I hope so too, doesn't look promising for them at all right now but we'll see. Thank you!

      @@RefuseArizona Not trying to brag but I have been driving an automated truck for 15 years and my Heil python arm is quite a bit faster than that arm. We run Granite mack cabs with heil beds and heil python arms ... love them. I am on my 3 new truck in 15 years . The Heil plant is only 20 minutes from our shop in Fort payne Alabama .

    I hope he gets a raise for all his hard work. And consider natural gas powered trucks

      I agree, and as for CNG, Surprise won't be investing in that any time soon, sticking to diesels. Their fleet is too small for an investment like that. Appreciate the comment!

    Awesome work, really enjoyed the footage! Not many North American trucks are this fast, Dave is just about Aussie quick! You could really hear the engine struggle when packing in the first few clips, an auto rev system would just help provide a little more hydraulic power, however it kept packing. I love the Scorpions, they seem to get better and better each year, I like the smooth lines of the normal tip to dump body, but the full eject body is something new and different to enjoy seeing in action.

    Great video! I believe 7671 does both trash and recycle in my neighborhood.

    Way to go Dave, judging by how the brakes squeel sounds like they got pretty hot. Hope that truck has an Allison hd4560 transmission judging how u feel the need to get the truck into 3rd gear in between stops then slam on the brakes. If it's got a Cummins islg motor in it. Better be prepared to get a steel pistons in it. Those aluminium pistons will melt a hole right down the side of them.

      It's got a 3000 series in it, their newer units are 4500 series.

    Definitely one of the most enjoyable Scorpions I've seen! I love the sound the truck makes when he goes from stop to stop. I'm very surprised at how CNG this truck sounds, interesting for sure. His truck sure looks good too and I love how clean his rims are. What landfill are you referring to in the description btw? Awesome video!

      Refuse Arizona do you know if bte body, the company outta Texas that bought Dadee , is building scorpions again? If so are they planing on coming back into Phoenix? I hope so cuz the new amreps we got are junk and we are having all kinds problems with them. They’re terrible when you have a lineup of cans close together.

      City of Provo? The unit in this video has a larger sized pump which creates the fast overall cycle times. Your unit should have an 8 second cycle time at most (grip, up, dump, undump, down, release).

    god damn how big is that truck? my city gets 31 cubic yard trucks and they cant pack shit on

    • @RefuseArizona
      @RefuseArizona  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This truck is actually a 31 cubic yard unit, the body is setup low profile for a roof mounted CNG tank. The body is a little bit longer in length due to this. Appreciate the comment!
