    "We don't have an unbiased view of Coda's consciousness."
    You literally understand the entire game within the first 10 minutes of this video.

    It's wild that you saw the idea about "external validation" after the first level. I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks! haha so hyped to watch the rest!

    24:05 It's also interesting to already see here that it was not coda who fixed the bug - it was davy. And apparently it did not take much for davy to do this - so this "bug" may aswell be intentional. So Davy already violated the rule from two rooms ago twice - evaluating the game for what they are instead of what they are not. He altered the game twice for the sake of his interpretation. The first time - skipping the maze - is more "excusable", but an alteration nonetheless.

    The stairs reminded about having a dream/ nightmare about running up stars and never reaching the top and also going up the stairs very slowly as if your legs are being weighed down by something

    Really enjoying this playthrough. With your insights from this, the Stanley Parable, and Soma, I am more convinced that you would have a heck of a fun time with Control. All of these games have similar opportunities for discussions.

    One thing that’ll make you think is he modifies the games from these parts that take time but sits there talking about how creative Coda is and how his games are great. Is that how he really feels about him because sure he talks highly of him but the minute something in his games slightly or decently inconveniences Davey he just essentially says “Eh that’s boring or you won’t like it so let’s skip over it.” Whether it takes 5 minutes of your time or an hour it gets the axe from Davey.

    This is interesting to me because i write books. So when someone reads my books and says "you know this reminds me of (insert book here)" and it always bugs me for some reason. I like to think im original but yeah, it is just an original combination of concepts, and it might bug me because they see it for the connections they make to it and not the work that i created.

    You are genuinely the only person I've ever seen criticize Davey from the start. It's truly hard to believe you don't remember anything about this game. It's insane the amount of intuitive psychology you have about the narrator. ("Insane" is again a pun, I guess.)

    • @DrMick
      @DrMick  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      For what it's worth - there's no reason for me to lie about it. I played the game so long ago, and in such a different format (where I basically focused on chat the whole time where the game was background noise) that I legitimately did not remember any of the story beats. Some very vague aspects of it, yes (such as knowing a person was playing another person's games, remembering a level with a house you tidy up, stuff like that) but anything major was totally lost on me.
      My channel is about ensuring I use these games to educate folks. Not to be the ultimate "figures the game out" sensei. The game pretty heavily shows its hand early on and I just give my thoughts on the fly (which is what happens in other playthroughs as well).
      At any rate - thanks for watching and for engaging with the videos. I appreciate it!

    I think that another couple game somewhat similar to this that I personally would love to watch you play is presentable liberty and exoptable money. They are both somewhat simple mechanically but pretty deep and interesting story and narrative wise and I'd love to see what you think of them.

    This is the first video of yours I've ever watched, but it's kinda insane (intentional pun) that a "therapist" (as per the title) doesn't remember any of this game. The ONLY reason this game is impactful is for psychological reasons. I'm only a minute in as I'm typing this comment, but I'm very excited to see your commentary from here on through.

    Me having to pause the video to write this down. There are 2 people making assumpitions in the game. It is davy and it is Dr. Mick is doing exacrtly the same thing davy is doing. Hes assuming Koda would be upset that davy is changing his game.
    The only input that really matters is Kodas but he isnt around. So the second best is davy who has this overwhelming sorta of admiration for him. It then turns on me and how I interupt davy. And what that says about me. Because I read all of this as Davy showing his love for Koda and maybe a wish-fullment of him making a game with him.
    I have never played this game nor do I know anything about it. So no spoilers or anything. But this is such a mental paradox!

    Hello. This is not meant to be mean. I just don't understand your hostility towards Davey. I think this game is more about Davey's interpretaion of his friend's games than it is about Coda's games themselfs or any definite reasons why Coda made certain choices in the creation. He said himself that it was his interpretation at a few points during this video. He doesn't claim his interpretations are facts. I get that you want to play Coda's games for what they are but that's not Davey's intention here and I don't understand why that's a problem. You criticize Davey's assumptions of Coda but often make assumptions about Davey yourself. You can not analize Davey in a fair way when you have only his project to analize, the same way he can not judge Coda in a fair way by only his games. It's not a conversation on your part either, it's a oneway affair. The difference is he knows him personally to a certain extant. You don't seem to like it when Davey shares his thoughts about his friends art and that is what I don't get the most. Art is always inviting to be interpreted and I think Davey's point of view is the whole reason of the beginner's guide existence. I'm sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language. Just wanted to share my thoughts. Have a good day 👍🏻

    • @spellviz8409
      @spellviz8409 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Oh, also he takes the games and modifies them, decides when to start and stop them all this stuff. So he changes the art. He takes the art of his friends and changes it. That also would be something i would imagen coda wouldnt like. At least if I where him I wouldnt. 🤷‍♂️

      @@spellviz8409 I don't know what Coda thinks about Davey modifying his art. I don't know Coda and it wouldn't help to project the feelings I would have in that situation on Coda. I think the change of things is justified since Davey wants to share his opinion with us and our own experience of playing the originals is not his real goal of this release. Transforming art in general is ok in my opinion.
      I am austrian btw. Grüße nach Deutschland :)

      @@heinzelmann6502 thats a fair point. So I would move back to my other argument about coda never wanting his art to be shown because thats something we do "know" in the sense that even davey said so in the very beginning. And thats something I think is something to be critical about. Takong something privat and discussing it with the world without concent from coda.
      Grüße zurück. ;)

      I'd imagine that you haven't see this game before and are experiencing it for the first time, there is a very clear point towards the end of the game that demonstrates Coda's feelings on how Davey treats the games
