Ik it seems like we say this abt damn near every Mariah song but in reality it’s just a few of them, some of which you’ve reacted to already, like Emotions and Forever. My All is also pretty insane. But I’d say Lead the Way is EASILY top 3 vocally. It actually went viral on TikTok a couple of years ago for its insane vocals at the end, and ppl made it into a challenge to sing it.
I love Ariana, but this is why the comparisons annoy me... Mariah Carey was 27 here, 3 years younger than Ariana is today and this sounds fully grown, fully realized, and fully her own. Ariana still seems stuck in a teeny boppy lane and doesn't make music for adults or with real depth.
