मेघालय में आज हमारा तीसरा दिन है। हम डॉकी जा रहे हैं यह राजधानी शिलांग से 80 किलोमीटर दूर है।
यह यात्रा गंतव्य से कहीं अधिक सुंदर है। (Journey is much more beautiful than destination.)
डॉकी नदी के रूप में लोकप्रिय, मेघालय में उमंगोट नदी निर्विवाद रूप से अपने क्रिस्टल साफ पानी के साथ एशिया की सबसे स्वच्छ नदी है। पानी इतना साफ है कि नदी का तल भी देखा जा सकता है।
There is a suspension bridge on Umngot river which was built by British in 1932. Boating cost Rs 7pp for one hour per boat which can carry 4 passengers. you can share it with other tourist. (if you want to save your cost.)
Earlier there was a Meghalaya Tourism bus from Shillong (Police bazaar) which cos Rs 500 per person for all day long sight seeing. But it has been stopped temporarily because of Covid-19.
डॉकी (India) -तमाबिल (Bangladesh) भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच कुछ सड़क सीमा क्रॉसिंगों में से एक है । पीक सीजन में यहाँ से रोजाना करीब 500 ट्रक सीमा पार करते हैं।
बॉर्डर चेक पोस्ट पर हम कुछ बांग्लादेशी नागरिकों से मिले और अपने नोट का आदान-प्रदान किया।
शिलांग तक की यात्रा पूरी करने में 3.5 घंटे का समय लगा। एक तो यह पहाड़ी रास्ता है दूसरा कई जगहों पर सड़क निर्माण का काम चल रहा है जिससे लंबा जाम लग जाता है।
हाईवे से 20 किलोमीटर के डायवर्जन के बाद हम एक खूबसूरत गाँव में पहुँचे। जिसका नाम मालिननॉन्ग है। हमें गांव में प्रवेश करने के लिए 100 रुपये देने पड़े।
यह गांव शिलांग से 90 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। इसे 2003 में एशिया का सबसे स्वच्छ गांव घोषित किया गया था। और तब से हर दिन यहां बहुत से पर्यटक आते हैं। एक ट्री हाउस यहां का प्रमुख आकर्षण है। यह एक वॉच टावर की तरह है और प्रवेश शुल्क 20 रुपये है।
We had learnt some phrases of Khasi languages. We tried these on village children.
Women of the Khasi tribe wear a Jainsen along with a blouse. The jainsen covers their body right from the waist down to the ankles.
Khasi is woman oriented society. There is the tradition of the Khasi people that property and wealth are passed from the mother to the youngest of her daughters, who also keeps the mother's surname.
Nohwet Village also has a living root bridge (2 Km from Riwai Village).
Umngot river is also known as Dawki river.
