Gawd, I love Margaret! She reminds me of my late friend Amelia. She was 78 and I was 43 when I moved in with her to catalogue her extensive library. What a friendship that ensued. I miss her every day. She passed away at 96.
Some elderly People, can be soo fun to be around, this Bird seems a bit, disgruntled about her husband becoming Mentally ill. She talked about Having No One to share her day,or no one to go on holiday with, but, she Does have a daughter, Grands & Great Grands, ....your responsibilities could have been Shared amongst them .....I'm 60,... my husband 79, we have taken care of Each Other, since 2004, 20 years now. For the majority of those years, hes had an Orthopedic surgery On e per year,I took care of him,and worked full-time & paid my own bills!
@@darlaangel7853 There's a difference between being mentally ill and physically ill. Your husband is physically ill, while someone with dementia or Alzheimer's is mentally ill. You can operate on body parts, but you can't do a brain transplant. When elderly people deteriorate to the point where they get aggressive, there isn't much you can do.
There's also a difference between sharing memories with you wife/husband, and sharing experiences with your kids or relatives. I talk to my mum on the phone for hours every day, yet my boyfriend of 9 years is still the one I want to talk about how the day has been.
Margaret is an absolute delight.
Will is so soft spoken and gentle, the kind of doctor you would want if having an emergency
The friendship between the two ladies was very heartwarming.
I wish I had someone in my life 😢 Im very lonely....
I love British people! 😅 even in the middle of A & E it's still time for tea & a sandwich ❤
It's wonderful, isn't it? They can actually provide tea & sandwiches in a&e😊✨💖
As a Canadian, I love how sweet the British are. And classy. Btw, I love my Red Rose tea.
Margaret is a marvellous lady, as an aged carer, I totally agree that alzheimers is the worst thing that can happen to an older person. Margaret did a great thing in looking after her husband.
She is fabulous!
She looks wonderful for 92!!!
@@sharongreen1366still fully independent too! Not too many 92 year olds can say that.
I just lost my Grandma to Alzheimer’s she was 95, she lived a great long life
Those families with a loved one who has Alzheimer's disease truly lose their loved one twice.
Will is a lovely man.
Margaret and her friend are lovely!! So happy and warm.
Margaret is such a lovely lady with a beautiful spirit.
If i ever get to be 92, i really hope I'm just like Margaret is.
I’m not yet 40 and I’ve never had her level of elegance in my life. She’s a gem.
Julie and her husband, they are the most…I love them! “You can’t look after me any better darling, give me a kiss.” He says, how
beautiful ❤
Margaret is a such a beautiful woman. I can only guess what a knockout she was in her younger day. And hasnt lost a bit of humor
I saw the episode where the producers showed how they make this wonderful series. They have almost 100 cameras placed in the ER, and then they go through and edit. That way, there are no photographers in the room to get in the way.
Thanks for sharing that!! I’ve wondered about that ☺️
I also watched that same episode, it was very interesting. 😊
Margaret is marvelous for 92
Julie and Gerry are sweet. Julie is so nice and caring.
3:45 what a lovely smile
I love this series! I've watched every episode and look forward to the new uploads. Just wanted to say thanks for uploading these. Please keep it up!
Margaret is wonderful.
I was 49 when my husband died of a massive heart attack.
You tell your spouse and family to go to the doctor before things get serious. Go when you start having symptoms. Don’t let it get out of control.
Margaret is saying everything that is going on in my life after my husband’s passing. Loneliness.
This show makes you feel you have friends. Thank you
Lovely way to describe it 😊
We all need a Margaret in our lives!
I love the programs but i love them even more when Will is in A&E.
I love this show - always so very well done & multi- layered. How valuable is compassion & empathy together with competancy. Bless them all!
My boss was like Margaret. She passed away at the age of 100. I miss her so much. We crossed the border of employer and employ and became family.
Thank you so much for your videos. Your channel is one of my very favorites. ❤
Watching these episodes from USA, I am so in awe of how europeans handle trauma without fuss and drama! Here in the USA people are so entitled and ungratefull. Eye opening!
BTW, I am an European living in the states for 40 years now. I have seen it all!
I have long thought the same.
Swede here, this is basically the same as in Sweden.
Been into emergency care in Sri Lanka as well, and except the fact that they're pretty under developed technically, they have a huge load of compassion and care. And they're insanely fast!
I'd say that most countries except USA has a good way of meeting patients. Without any foundation for this, I think that those countries where you pay for medical care through taxes has a lot better way of handling people than USA where you have to pay the full price for care. Working class people tend to be a bit more humble and gentle.
I love Margaret!...much respect for her!
Will was so cool and calm with Gerry. Even though it was so urgent.
How do Drs do tgat? They are amazing.
Margaret is such a peach, and thank goodness Gerry pulled through!
Perfect fri nite watching this with a gentle rain in the garden..
Margaret is a fascinating lady!
The lady who fell on her stoop, is a task master! She is in charge.
That Margaret is one classy lady. I want to be like her when I grow up.
You see beauty and such heartbreaking stories that brings me to tears.😢 Mostly it’s seeing people around the age of 70 to 75 that remind me of my late husband and then ones who make you miss your mom and dad, but I’d never stop watching this show. 🥰🥰🩷🩷
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, technicians and staff of the hospital that look after our loved ones making sure that they were taken care of.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖💖🌟🌟
Thier very considerate at this hospital offering tea or sandwiches to loved ones
This episode was was so good. Maggie was amazing. It's 2023 now so I'm guessing she's now passed on but... Her life story was so interesting to me. My grandfather was extremely independent in his late 80s and was about to start a new business when he had a head injury and brain bleed that changed him for ever. His wife had had Alzheimer's for 14 years, basically my whole childhood. I don't remember her before. My husband is 10 years older than me and one or my fears is for him to get Alzheimer's. Unless I go early, I'll be alone for a while. I hope I can cope like Maggie.
Do u know when this was filmed?
@@WendyP1965the newest death date I've seen on a previous upload was as late as 2015 so it's old
Given how incredibly health she seems here, it's easy to imagine she could have made it past 100. And I do mean incredible... I don't think I've ever, ever seen a 92 year old looking that healthy, physically or (especially) mentally. It's a miracle to reach that age and have a voice that firm.
@@DodderingOldMan she sounds great She walks perfectly fine her voice is strong she can do everything on her own without any help, not too many 92-year-old get to boast that.
@@WendyP1965 She was born in 1922 and said she was 92 so this episode was filmed in 2014. She would be 102 yrs old now.
I’m from the US, first American born generation in my family (they’re from Finland). I’ve never known any Brits personally, but I’ve heard the “typical British woman” is very stately, very regal, very elegant. Someone who takes the punches and keeps rolling no matter what. Margaret seems to me the epitome of what “The British Woman” is all about. She’s stunning and just absolutely lovely.
Oh I am so happy it didn’t go the other way at the end !
I live in America and I'd love to just come there and volunteer to help in er.
“We we’re on coupons”😂
Thank you for these videos. I subscribed
Anyone else that'd love to see an episode or two about the porters?! They do such an important job, yet they barely get any attention whatsoever.
I love Margaret ❤
That geeky doctor seems so confident and competent.
Lovely episode!
Has any one noticed that the ambulances are Mercedes. We not that fancy in the states. Lol
It is so funny when I hear we dialed 999 I live in the United States of America and in our country it is 911 😂
I live around Pensacola Florida. I live a very, very long way away and I absolutely love this show.
Losing a spouse is horrendous
alzheimer is the most horrific disease dealing with I think!!
Margaret would get along with Judge Judy !! 😅
Don't they normally sedate people to make them fall asleep before electrocuting the heart? This is the first time I've seen someone react to it. It didn't look pleasant 😨
Most of the time, yes they would. But if a patient is too unstable for them to be sedated, then no.
And no, it's not comfortable.
As what a family member who was shocked while not sedated- it felt like being kicked in the ribs by a horse.
He was sedated, but he didn’t go all the way under. He was given a sedative.
To the producers: please, lose the loud background music! Even with a hearing aid that transmits directly from whatever I’m watching on, the music drowns out the voices. I really enjoy this series but get so frustrated as the CC either lags behind or moves ahead, and detracts from seeing the screen (or the transcription isn’t complete, misspelled, missing key words.)
Corn beef curtains
Plying the kids with sugar in A & E. 😅
In the US they would have just patted Margaret her on the head and sent her home.
No they wouldn’t.
Margaret’s friend seems kind of stuck up. Not very friendly
I totally disagree.
Omg…not at all!!! Where are you getting this from? Her friend has that dry sense of humor which she utilized to lighten the situation while Margaret was waiting for medical help. She was a sweetheart and much support for her while she was there.
