    Can u please make a video explaining how u learn other languages while you are working,( the pressure, hardships, burn out, poster syndrome) and how did they hire u if u did not meet all required skills for the job
    Looking forward to that video 😊

      For me learning other languages became easier as I already knew one, like learning react when you know Javascript is like walk in a park, so knowing one will lead to the other, also engage in projects that require more than one language so you can learn while you earn.

    Katlego I just enrolled in a bootcamp for back-end development. Is it okay to start with it before front-end or i made a mistake?

    I’m interested in studying ethical hacking. Any advice? What do I need to know in terms of programming languages? What are the best institutions in South Africa?

      I'm not sure about the specifics of ethical hacking. But you will not go wrong with Python (Don't feel discouraged if you chose a different language)

    HTML&CSS before python or OK with python first?(to land job ASAP)
    What language are you using mostly now?
    Have you used all of the languages you mentioned yourself?
    ...still time then before AI takes all jobs?
    Thanks for all the tips Katlego!!!

    • @katlegodeveloper
      @katlegodeveloper  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Backend (Start with Python)
      Frontend (Start with html/css)
      Full stack (Start with html and css)
      AI is scaring developers but it's not doing any massive disruption as yet. As such, developers are still highly needed. Maybe in the next 10-20 years AI might be fully efficient to take our jobs but not now.

    @katlegodeveloper Do you know anything about Software Testing? I'm looking at starting a course on S.T on Udemy. I want to find out if there are any websites where one can practice for free, or do you reckon I volunteer at an organization?

    • @katlegodeveloper
      @katlegodeveloper  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure about the websites to practice Software testing for free but S.T is a good path. You can of course volunteer to test a company's software to gain more knowledge and experience.

    I am a self-taught Java and SQL developer but have started studying Systems development at a College. Is this the right path? I am busy doing a desktop app using these languages

    • @howtopassthat

      self-taught with Java? I am assuming that you are learning Java to get a job well the thing is companies who use Java are large businesses and for large corporate companies with that tech stack you will have difficulties getting a job as a self-taught Java and SQL and are very very strict if you don't have a BSc degree there it will be very very hard to get into there even if you are talented rather go front end with JS & react it's a lot better to be self-taught in that area compared to Java & SQL C#

      A diploma might provide the basic qualifications, but in today’s job market, that alone is often not enough. If your main goal is to secure an income without being particular about the role, you might land a position like a data analyst or similar entry-level jobs, but even those opportunities are becoming scarce. Junior roles are increasingly hard to come by, and the weight of a degree or diploma is diminishing if you lack practical experience.In 2024, the job market has shifted dramatically. Experience is now the key currency. Someone with four years of relevant work experience, even without formal qualifications like a matric or degree, is often more valued than someone with a BSc degree but no experience.

    Bro i just started learning front end development, im wondering if its good if focus only on front end development?

    • @katlegodeveloper
      @katlegodeveloper  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes don't do both front and backend at the same time because it'll be overwhelming. Focus on front the once you get comfortable you can go to backend!

      I haven't applied to Java jobs before so I don't know the difficulty level to getting the job compared to applying to web dev roles with JavaScript. Depends on what company you are applying for really. Big corporations will be really strict and startups not as much.

    • @justazuluman
      @justazuluman 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      False, java is used everywhere and as much as big companies require a degree mostly there are smaller companies that don't
