I love the satisfaction of making the exact tool i need for a task.

Nice set. It is very satisfying picking with your own tools I agree, I've only gone as far as wires and stuff though for lever locks at the moment, yet to explore hooks and such.. love the repurposed handles 👍

Very nice, I did a similar project by making handles for my favor picks next I will follow your lead and design my own picks too

@@johnnyo5993 Thank you Johnny for kind words. The tolerances on these handles will vary on the hole size, so you can't cookie cutter the depth and the width for the insert section of your pick head. But the width needs to be parallel and wide as possible. I haven't tried using 0.018" thick material from Peterson, but the thinner it is, the more tolerances matter. I want to make a more shallower hook for my next build. Then, I think I'll be covered as far hooks are concerned in 0.025".
Feel free to ask me questions. I love tool design. I'm not that big on doing videos on picking locks. There's too much of it about on other channels.

@@laurenarndt464 awesome I will definitely keep you in the loop, thanks for reaching out...I'm semi new to picking as a hobby and have 50 years of R&D engineering background and co own a business that specializes in the use of Liquid propane Alternative fuel injection technologies and a motorsports division for our R&D /testing... we have a very nice shop full of state of the art equipment that can make anything we can design in CAD or 3d print metals and composites as needed so now I'm going to make a few "gizmos" supporting my new hobby when the machines sit idle🤙👍🇺🇲🏁🏴‍☠️

@@johnnyo5993 I'm jealous. I could do so much with equipment like that. Everything I do is using a drillpress, a Dremel and an 18-volt grinder with an x'y'z vise.
Make sure you check out all my previous videos and shorts. If you like antique padlock collecting and key making, I wrote 3 books (see my YT icon).

@@laurenarndt464 thanks I'll look them up...i prototype everything by "pushing lead" (hand drawing) making "paper dolls" and cutting everything by hand the old school way first then if I need more than two I have the option to use our shop , let me know if you need wierd one off stuff made and I'll see what I can do, our R&D engineering business headquarters are in the middle of nowhere near Road America Raceway and have a raceshop in N Carolina but live in Florida so I'm on the road alot between races and shops and the equipment if we can help too⚒️🛠⚔️🪛🔩⚙️🗜
