This is a brilliant story to hear, the start of his career is very similar to what mine is like now. I recently got made redundant from the garage I was working at, struggled to find another job because I don’t have a level 3, and now I’m going to the same college he went to at Silverstone to train to be a motorsport technician.
I worked in American LeMans and Grand Am prior to that for about 8 years. Luckily got to do Daytona 24 and LeMans quite a few times. I don’t think many fans realize the amount of crossover in the pitlane from F1 to those series. I can say though the first time you open up the garage door and walk out into pitlane at LeMans is definitely something special and something you never forget.
Great interview, thanks guys for sharing. @ Calum 'Team principal' next. Keep going, but one thing about your little one, YOU can NEVER buy back the time you've spent away from them no matter how much money you have, it's tough and hard to swallow for some. That said looking forward to reading your book.
@ nah, fair play to you mate. You put out good content. Can’t understand why people will sit and watch for an hour but not give you the courtesy to at least tap the thumbs up button.
Lost all respect for this guy when he pretty much shoulder barged LH after he won at the British GP when Max went in the wall. As he said in the intro, "that's racing".
There are no barriers. I'm so sick of this victimhood crap. Ask yourself... when you said black people live in the big cities and far away from the F1 hub in England... why is that? It's not because of discrimination. All you're doing by forcing "diversity" is actually increasing bad feeling towards so-called "minorities". I'm sick of this woke garbage. Could've been a brilliant interview. Ruined by woke claptrap. I've adored this guy for years. The colour of his skin never crossed my mind until you now made that happen.
Unfortunately, the colour of one's skin is often factored into the possibility of making progress. Nothing to do with being "woke". Everything to do with opportunity. Entitlement is a thing.
@@CTFlyer7 Which of us are you expecting to teach you about the world? It's not our job to explain anything to a person who has the capacity to do the work for themselves. C'mon man...
The world I live in has denied me multiple jobs because of the colour of MY skin. The pandering to DEI is excluding straight white males more than anyone else. Companies are falling over themselves to employ supposed "disadvantaged" people who are actually at this point the most pandered to, worshiped, entitled folks on earth. There is NO barrier or obstacle for a young black boy to make the most of his life. There are also millions of white blokes who maybe didn't quite get their lives right and are living in poverty. It's not always because you're "discriminated against". Very few people reach the top of their game. Not making it is not because of discrimination or racism. There is zero obstacle for black people because they're black. It's a ridiculous and tiring theory at this point. Anyone who works hard can make it to the top. All I see is black people who didn't quite make it... always blaming the colour of their skin. It's exhausting bullsh*t.

Hell yeah man! 🤘🤘 good luck brother! Is your goal to be doing what Callum is doing now?
Another amazing interview Ben, what an awesome guest Calum is!
Calum is such a level headed intelligent person. He represents the ordinary guy in a glamour sport. Can’t wait to read the book.
Love Calum, Absolute class act!!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Love these types of guests. Always nice to see the support people get some recognition for all the hours they put in

Where was the bit about the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP? I managed to miss that bit.
Now this is interesting.

I’m the only black person in the pit lane.. what does that even mean !!
Figure it out. #Sirlewishamilton can utter in the very same way.#LH44fan
We all accept the good/bad luck motor racing. But nobody accepts blatant cheating 2021 was not part of racing it was manipulation!

Ok. Explain to me what barriers exist due to skin colour?

Go on. Substantiate your claim.
