      Thanks for the feedback! Ya, I learned that one the hard way. Dielectric grease is a good choice for a lubrication.

    Good video, but wow that music volume is way too high.

      Thanks for the feedback. Ya, that was one of the "early day" videos when I did not yet understand how to normalize the volume throughout the video.

    I know that the newest model of the PA-12 has six horizontal rod storage spaces built into the hull that will allow you to store up to twelve rods (using rod covers) , so if you're adding extra rod holders for outside usage you should have 9-15 rods total (using the H-Rail horizontal rod holder on only one side).

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael, yes that is correct, there are 3 on each side plus the extra rod holders. So plenty of storage and lots of rods. The other nice part is when I tip the PA 12 on its side to put the wheels in the bottom, everything stays put, which is great.

    Just one more comment. People love to hang all kinds of fruit on the sides of kayaks, All useful and great UNTIL you fall into the water and have to climb back into the kayak and possibly have to right it before you do. Very difficult with all that stuff hanging off it !
    You should practice re-entering your boat in calm water and then try it in wind and waves. Once you visualize what it would then be like when you're wet, cold and very tired, then you are likely to have a very different view on what can/needs to be removed.

      Ya, good points. It takes a lot to flip one of the these things. I believe the PFD is the most important piece of equipment. Personally, I am a very strong swimmer and if this did happen I would flip the kayak back over then just push it back to shallower water and walk from there. I don't really fish where the shoreline is that far away. Also, you can reinter this kayak from the side towards the front.

    I have a 180 drive and mine squeaks but what I have found is mine seems to be my seat making the squeaking noise if I am sitting straight up. If I slide down in the seat just a little bit it stops. Just a thought.

    Good review EXCEPT,,, the music is way TOO LOUD! I have to turn the volume up all the way to here you talk, then the music blasts me out... Just a tip.. makes watching your video very difficult. Thanks for sharing!

    I needed beach wheels like that for a project and man I can't believe how much wheeleez charges. They're hounded for their prices, they work but I'm not paying for them if they cost as much as a car tire

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya the Hobie accessories are crazy expensive. Right.. $200+ for wheels is nuts.

    • @steeevo0136
      @steeevo0136 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The whole trolley cart system for Hobies sucks. Get Boon Dox Groovy Landing Gear with the sand wheels (SandTrakz), not those stupid bulky and expensive balloon wheels. No more tilting or lifting the kayak. You can retract and deploy the wheels whilst on the water. Great system.

    I’m a super torn between a pa12 and pa14. Lots of reviews saying the 14 is much more stable but from tour video the 12 looks great. Do you have any advise to help me make a deduction here!! Thanks

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well for me it was simply the ability to get it in my truck. I have a F150 with a 6.5 foot bed. The PA 12 can slide in and I don't need a metal hitch extender to keep the hull of the kayak from crimping. If I went with the PA 14 I would need the extension. Second, is that I cannot hoist the PA 14 in my garage to store it, too long. Also, after having it out a while with the trolling motor added it is about as heavy as I want it. The PA 14 would have added even more weight. Finally, I don't really need the extra storage capacity that the PA 14 has in the front hatch. Once again, don't want the extra weight. Does this help?

    I too cringe when I hear the term game changer - about equal to how much I cringe when I hear comfortability.

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I have to say after having a "sit in" kayak for years, I sat in this Hobie for 8 hours plus fishing days and it did not bother me a bit. They put a lot of thought into the design of their seats, and it certainly feels that way.

  • @aydenspedden7805

    How fast does it go. Cause I’m looking for one that can get me to the flats quickly.

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the trolling motor, I can get it up to 3.5 mph and if I wanted to add paddling while I am using the trolling motor I can get it to 4 mph. I have a video on the Bixpy Trolling motor that talks about advantages and realistic range.

      @BLANK BLANK Pedaling with no motor is tops 2.5 to 3.0mph. 2.0 is the speed for longer distances, just pedaling. I do cycle quite a bit, not a super fast biker, but in shape.

  • @jb_19

    That squeaking noise when you pedal, has it always done that for you? Mine is squeaking too and I find it impossible to use because of it.

      @@gogooutdoors3780 Thanks! I reached out to Hobie and they said to grease the contact points. Problem is I can't find them. I'd really appreciate a video on how you did the maintenance since Hobie doesn't provide one! SPecifically, they say to grease where the cables contact the drum.

    Why so much for a piece of plastic that costs a couple of hundred bucks to produce? Just buy a fishing boat with a motor.

    • @gogooutdoors3780
      @gogooutdoors3780  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it's a bit more engineered than a piece of plastic. The hulls are designed to withstand a lot of punishment from the elements including UV rays from the sun. Ya fishing boats are cool, but I can get that kayak in places fishing boats can't go or launch from and that's a lot of times where the good fishing is.
