- This DIY Grocery Pannier uses corrugated plastic sheet to provide structure to a reusable shopping bag. 3D-printed clips and a closure strap attach the bag to the bicycle rack. The blue strap holds the top of the bag closed and goes under the rack bar to hold the bag down to the rack The grocery pannier weighs 220 g compared to my store-bought pannier which weighs ~1050 g. Not counting 3D printer time it takes about 30 minutes to make (I'm not including the time I took to update the design - relocating the hooks downward to eliminate heel strike, moving the strap and changing it to a longer one, etc)
Súper awesome. This is the best DIY pannier ever.
Some great tips there. Especially the elastic band for when the bag is empty.
Thanks for the tip, will look into that...
That's genius!! Thank you very much I have an urban bike and this way I can leave my bike locked outside with the panniers locked by a cheap cord lock without fear of being stolen or at least it will cost 10$ to replace them
Awesome design thanks for sharing!
Great tips. Quick tip, consider getting an off-camera microphone; kinda hard to hear you.
Very clever design! Would you share your 3D printed hook file please? Thanks!
I've posted at Printables. I also made a pannier using a lightweight messenger bag I got for free. I recommend the coroplast inside to provide some structure, otherwise a floppy bag could end up in the spokes. www.printables.com/model/905434-diy-grocery-pannier-clips
