We hung 42 of these four years ago for a customer in his 4-plexes. Not one has failed. Several had broken glass fixtures from careless renters, two had blades snapped off in fights, but the fans themselves - not one failure. And, yes, they were less than $25/unit at the local box store.
I bought one for my bedroom in 2017, it's pretty good, I like the look of it. It's a cheap fan for sure, it's nothing like the vintage ceiling fans, but whatever. It's a good fan.
I’ve had one of these in my bedroom for many years. While the bearing noise never really goes away and the chains on the pull-cords like to clank up against the light cover, it’s a very good ceiling fan for the little room I use it in.
My house originally had 4 fans and they were all littletons, the one in my bedroom was the only one that didn’t have a defect, the globe on my sister’s Littleton broke because I hit it with a trash can, my mom’s wobbled so bad that it scraped against the motor very loudly because 2 blades were bent, the one in my office had a pull chain issue and eventually it was only 1 speed, it was low or off, mine was fine and had absolutely no issues and blew a decent breeze, I thought it was ridiculous that mine got replaced with the others because my grandma wanted it to match the others
I had 2 of these; one in my parent's room and one in my room. The one in my parent's suffered a broken blade in 2018 and the one in my room almost burned down my house in 2020. I will try my 3rd attempt at buying one without it breaking (I don't think it will). That would go in the office at my house or the guest room. For sure the guest room because it would look better.
why is everyone complaining about the Littleton, yet the one I have survived all of my TH-cam shorts ever since I got it, Trust me there's worst fans then the Littleton.
Also manufacturers stopped putting screw head markings on the light kit screws as many people would damage the glass by over tightening them. They never were supposed to do that with the screws as many companies didn’t do it until they started doing so with the school house fixtures sold separately. That’s why they don’t do it anymore to prevent people from over tightening it.
I bought a littleton a while back to install in the guest room. It works okay, especially since it is the cheapest fan you can get, but I feel like the $40 that I spent on it could have cone towards a much better used fan, but my mother wanted new. It works okay, but not great although it isn't used for much besides for the light 99% of the time anyway. Of course the LED bulb it came with went directly in the trash.
I put one of these in my nephew's room in '15 or so, cause I wanted the 52" Hunter (plus the room only needed a 36"-42" fan), and it's actually been surprisingly good and quiet. Also, my neighborhood liquor store has two of these over the front counter, with the bleached oak side showing...they have the schoolhouse shades installed, but I've yet to see the lights on. Also, you just demonstrated the reason why they included that extra screw! 😉 (I'm only joking. I mean no disrespect!).
Surprised you didn’t use the one you tested a few years ago in the garage. And yea the lowes version is better and moves more air. I got a Littleton new for my aunt recently to install in the hallway and while it does hum a bit and can be heard from upstairs it still does the job at least.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but one of the rubber isolation pads (where the blade irons connect to the motor), was missing. I don't think it will make much difference, as it's not a super-quiet fan to begin with, but for an inexpensive, Chinese-made fan I'd say it's not bad at all!
@@JordanU 100%! It's a decent fan for It's low price. My old apartment actually had a late-90s version of this type of fan, but with antique brass motor housing and wooden blades. I hate that this model only seems to come it white now. It would be nice to see antique and bright brass options.
I installed one of these and it moves basically no air at all, on the forward or reverse settings. So I started looking online to see if I've done something wrong. Bizzarely many people have the same experience as me. But many have an experience like you. And I can clearly see that yours is working better because I see your hair moving. Sometimes manufacturers contract the same product to different factories at, and it could be that pitch of the blades differs on my model vs yours. /shrug. Anyway, mine is going back.
Years ago these used to be made by SMC, which was a fairly reputable company. I'm not sure who makes them as of now, it very well could be that it changes month to month based off the cheapest bid.
I remember back in 2009 they were $23-24 dollars. Then around the lockdown they were around $27-29. And more recently they went to $32 and then $37 and most recently $44. Definitely not a good product but for the price it’s not bad. As long as you get one with no bearing noise it’s a decent product for what it is.
These fans aren't that bad except for the subpar paint job. Edit: this model was released in 2020 and it replaced the older one, which in my opinion was much higher quality compared to the newer one.
I’ve purchased 2 of these in my 8th grade year and the bearings were loud right of the box and $45 is just ridiculous for a fan with loud bearings in my opinion
Man I remember when I was on vacation in Rhode Island and my grandparents rented this house, and there was one of these in the basement where I stayed (had one of those above ground basements) and in the same room there was a Minka Aire supra, the 32inch model. Anyways this fan was beginning to fall out of the ceiling, and If you were to stand on the stairs and look at the top, you could tell it was only halfway flush with the ceiling and the other part had fallen down a bit.
Ian the mechanical had 3 of these Hampton bay Littleton’s one in his room which is messed up one in a guest bedroom that you touch it sparks and other one that is good

I had the Middleton which was the next model up from the Littleton it was 39.99 now it’s 60. It was the worst fan I ever had. was made by smc and had same motor just with 5 blades I had motor replaced twice under warranty the last time the bearings went too the point you could move the whole motor around too much play I finally gave up and bought a Hunter low profile iii and have had for several years and no problems so far I am a stickler when it comes to noisy fans especially in the bedroom.

@@JordanU pretty impressive for such a cheap fan
The cheapest ceiling fan available is the mainstays Walmart hugger ceiling fan. Around $27.

Even if it is the "cheapest" ceiling fan, it looks to move alot of air and at least it doesn't make alot of noise or wobble like some ceiling fans.
The bearings are audible, but everything else is at a reasonable noise level. Airflow is satisfactory for something of this size and style.
