I was maybe in 1st grade and a remember learning that cats always land on their feet and so I decided to test this. I grabbed my cat which was maybe half my size at that point climb to the stair railing and just drop it to the stairs. I figured “it’s not that high so the cat will be fine and I can see if it will land on its feet.” What I didn’t consider is that the cat has claws. So when I dropped it, it tried to grab me to save itself from falling and carved my little kid arms up. At that size I might as well have been mauled by a Tiger. The cat was fine, I was not.

They would get in a tight circle, take turns taking the yard dart throwing it as hard as they could... straight up and the last one to move before being hit, won. Well, one particular time they were playing, my mother was the last to move, she didn't move in time and had the yard dart pierce her in the left eye and had to have it surgically removed.

I remember I had got a kit for my birthday or something, and I don’t even think we returned it, because I knew not to put plastic toys in my mouth.

I grew up with my Mom and Dad on my Great-Grandparent's farm. It used to house animals but by the time I was born it only had storage barns and small remnants of it's former glory. There was broken glass, rusty junk, splintering boards, old tools, it looked like a setting from a post apocalyptic movie. I'm still surprised I have very few scars from living there up until 2 years ago. I used to play in all sorts of crap, like climbing on a pile of wooden boards, throwing a circular sawblade like a frisbee, whipping rusty chains around, I even found an old and rusted machete in one of the sheds.

I don't know how many of these there are, but this is one of the few examples where the points were literally tallied incorrectly and the winner was wrong. When Mark listed off the final points, he out loud said Wade had 3 points, then proceeded to give Bob Wade's Soulja Boy point. It was pointed out that that was wrong, and went back to Wade, and Bob was given 3 points for his contributions, but then then the final tally was Wade 2 Bob 4, meaning he not only forgot about one of Wades points, but then ALSO proceeded to reassign the Soulja Boy point to Bob.
Marks final tally of 4-2 not only missed a point, but is also gave the winning point to the wrong person, meaning Wade was the winner, but lost to bad memory

This proves to me that I was a, generally, smart child. I avoided pain, because I was aware what causes it. I can only really think of three occasions where I got hurt: bashed in the face by a tetherball, slipped on a woodchip while running from my crush, flipping a quad and getting part of my shin bone scooped out (drove into a ditch at the beginning of a race with an adult). Thinking of that last one makes my scar itch.
Wait. There's a fourth, *stupidest* one.
I almost ripped my stomach open on my school bleachers. But that was when I was a teenager, so still a smart _kid._ I've only gotten stupider as I've gotten older.

Me too. I used to just be a noisy and jumpy kid when I was very young, but I think after I was 2 years old. I just became self aware about pain and always avoided it. Still to this day if something ever comes speeding at high speeds like a football when it isnt even directed at me, I just close my eyes and look away and like protect myself. Only got hurt when a ball actually came to my face. I wear glasses so maybe I was terrified if I got hit while wearing them.
Sorry for the long rant, just thought I needed to open up a little.

DUDE. I'm 36 years old, and I remember finding my parent's set of lawn darts in my dad's workshop when I was about 6. I couldn't reach them on a top shelf, but they were colorful and clearly some kind of toy. And I would peer up at them every now every couple months until I was 8, before I finally asked about them, when one day they were just gone.
My mom couldn't remember what I was talking about, then suddenly, she did. "OH! Those are lawn darts!" I asked where they went. "We probably sold them. They're illegal." I asked what she meant. "Well, they're very dangerous. Like throwing knives. Some people got hit in the foot, and hurt very badly. So they're against the law to own."

I don't actually remember having done anything that physically put others or myself in danger, except one time solely relating to me as a child.
The child I used to be was in a school (with plenty of bad memories) that, even now, is situated partially on a really steep hillside where trees grew, and it was basically an unspoken rule that children would play there, even as the teachers warned them, for good reason, not to do so. One time, I was wandering around picking at random things near the top of the hill where the school buildings were situated, and one root that was partially sticking out of the soil caught my eye. I decided then and there, for some really stupid reason, that I should test my strength and pull that root as hard as I could, not realizing one end might still be a bit loose.
The root gives in, and I literally swing 180 vertical degrees from the typical weed-pulling position to having my back slammed into the soil behind the root I instinctively clung to.
I got away with only a hurt back, but I shudder to think what would've happened if reflex hadn't kicked in I had let go to be sent tumbling down about 60 metres of 45-or-more declining hillside with plenty of trees in the way.
I prefer pulling deep-growing dandelions and black salsify in the garden. Same exercise, even some food. MUCH LESS DANGER.

My parents gave my youngest sister this toy called bunchems. They were colourful little balls that stuck together and you could build things out of them. One thing though was that you should not get them in your hair because they were like brambles and it was hard to pull them out, and sister was warned about this. So my sister had the brilliant idea of her and her equally stupid friend throwing these things at each other. Both girls go crying to our mom because their hair is a huge birds nest of bunchems and they couldn’t get them out, and they were scared that they would have to be cut out. The friend was especially upset because she had long, pretty hair and this was going to ruin it. But mom tried cooking oil first and the bunchems came out. They got thrown in the garbage after that.

The roots of lawn darts don't come from the popular bar game they're named after, instead their history can be found in an ancient Greet and Roman war weapon called a plumbata. Thought to have originated around 500 BCE, plumbata were basically the same thing as lawn darts: weighted spikes thrown from a distance with the intention of landing somewhere soft. They were even thrown in the same way. Needless to say, the ancient Romans weren't aiming for a plastic circle.

I got my own story to add
I was in middle school, not sure exact grade, and on Saturdays my family cleans our house, I was being a little shit and refusing to help so as punishment I wasn't aloud to go to the pool party going on that day. So I'm sulking in my room pouting about how its not fair and all that when I hop onto the window sill and look out at the school, I had to open the window to fit on it so my weight was solely supported by the screen, thankfully I was a tiny child so that wasn't an issue, but eventually I got bored of sulking and started to look for something to play with. That's when I found this small metal latched on the screen and being the dumb kid I am while leaning against the window screen pull the lever, next thing I know I'm on the ground in immense pain, my room is on the second story, and for what feels like forever I'm just laying their crying in pain barley able to breath hoping to dear god that my mother finds me. Eventually she does and I get rushed to the ER, and I was somehow perfectly fine, they kept me their for a night just to be safe but everything was A Ok.

We couldn't get out at all, so we made a plan for my older brother to leave the room from their window and find the maintenance guy to give him the spare key to the room. The only problem: we lived in a second floor apartment. So, naturally, we had my older brother jump down and try to land decently. He started pissing out, but he was the most durable of us, so me being the little savage I was, pushed him the rest of the way out the window since he was already halfway out. He still hasn't forgiven me to this day even though he wasn't even injured and everything was fine. 🤷 I was the only girl and I didn't wanna be stuck in a room with my asshole brothers until mom and dad came back and unlocked the door from the outside.

    I've a few stories:
I and my friends liked to pretend we were really suave spies, so in the playground (we were like between 10/12 years old), we'd walk up the slides, try to walk around the outside of the platforms, and go down the slides. If you could do it without falling off, you were an amazing spy lol. Oh, and we'd sometimes do that with our socks on, very very safe.
I and few friends were hanging around the neighbour park, which was above one of my friend's flat's ground floor area. We saw this little what we called a treehouse, which really was a clearing with 1 or 2 park benches above where we stood lol. The thing was, we weren't allowed to go up there, but damn well we'd try to. We managed to get up there, and hung out there until we were caught by a security guard lol. He told us not to go up there again. I think we'd snuck up there few more times before stopping.
When I was a kid, I'd visit my cousins in Michigan a lot of times during the winters, mainly because it snows there, and we'd love having snowball fights lol. They had a mini hill outside the backyard, so as we were dumb kids, we'd roll down the mini hill sideways, and even race to see who would make it down the quickest. And when it snowed and the hill was covered in snow, we'd bring out boards, little sleds, and slide down to the bottom. It was fun.
Another time, I was 11, we went to visit my cousins in Michigan, and went to my aunt's friend's daughter's high school grad party. I just remember thinking 'Wow, she's so pretty'. And apparently I was trying to impress her according to my cousin, and I was just being a hyperactive kid around her lol. Looking back, she might have been my gay awakening person lol.

I'm pretty sure easy bake ovens are becoming unusable as the incandescent light bulb becomes obsolete. The whole purpose of the toy is that it uses the heat from the light bulbs to bake the "food" but as we transition from the old incandescent bulbs and into the newer CFL and LED lights, which are more electrically efficient because they don't produce as much heat, the easy bake ovens lose their only real source of heat.
Also, I am a Cars nut and in 2007 I wanted a model of Sarge. I had all the rest of the main cast of characters, but Sarge had eluded me. I never knew why I couldn't have one, beyond my mom's reasoning of something about chemicals, until just this year. There was a massive recall on toys in 2007, it affected Mattel, Lego, and possibly even Hasbro, I want someone to fact check that. Out of all of the Cars models that I had wanted and that had been released, Sarge had dangerous quantities of Lead in him.

There were twenty of us total, all young adults in college, and we managed to make this large pool into a whirlpool that lasted for quite some time. Just found this episode and it reminded me of my own story! So, when I was I a kid, we lived in this close nit neighborhood. And we are old of enough to be left on our own. So, like 9 and above. I was about 10 or 11 at the time. It was Summer and we all outside riding our bikes.
I forget who came up with it, but we decided to do some really stupid shit! It was when all of us were like in the big Motocross, Bike tricks and Skateboarding and Roller-skating. So, we decided in the middle of the road to make our own ramp! So, one person had this Paneling Board or whatever the board is called that it is used in construction. Their Dad finished a Home Improvement Project and had some left over so that was the "Ramp" part. Then what we did to get it up so we jump up in the air. We had five gallon buckets filled with buckets, cinderblocks and like these small sand bags? I think?
Well we made this ramp and tested a bit. And we're having a blast! Well, I'm one of the "Biggest" (heaviest) kid there. I'm not really fast but I was really strong biker. So, we had this idea. *I* would be the one to dragged the person behind me to get them up to speed for the ramp so they can do this big trick in the air. And what we used was this old jump-rope. So, I tied around my waist, then I gave the other end to the kid that grabbed it tied in their.
So, here I am biking as fast and strong as I can I go to the side while the person I'm dragging when on the ramp letting go of the jump-rope.
One, kid wanted to try to do a backflip. Yes, you read that right a backflip! Well, we do this thing, their in the air, do the backflip and landed on the back tire and flopped backwards landing on their back. They were alright, had some bruised and the wind was knocked out of them. But yeah, that's my story!

17:56 growing up we called it dead or alive! it had an extra part to it where you’d do the regular yell out the number of points it’s worth, but then call out if it’s dead (catch it after it hits the ground), alive (catch it before it hits the ground), or both.
so you’d shout something like “400 points alive!” and just watch as kids scramble over each other to catch the ball sjsjs
