Amazing..real talent here. Jimmy did not need stage gimmicks as many of today's so called performers rely upon. All he needed was a stool, a mic and his personality. THAT is the mark of a great performer.
"There's a lotta talk about young people today, but I tell ya folks, if their philosophy is based on love, count me in!" Count me in too, Jimmy! Preach it, brother! This guy rocked.
jimmy..i am old enough and proud enough to say to anyone who is watching this RIGHT NOW....i saw this show ..on our new old black and white tv..and Rip dear JD
MickTheQuickk AMEN He still brings tears to my cross eyes lol I adored him and am having I'll Be Seeing You " at my funeral sung by Jimmy. I never got to meet him but would have if I was given a chance to meet any most famous person in the World. I have never heard 1 person speak badly about Jimmy or another Great Man who loved Jimmy Desi Arnez..both great people according to everyone. You have great taste my friend hugs for you.xx
Jimmy, Men like you never die.One day,for some reason they vanish and keep singing somewhere in the sea.I was a kid when I heard your "As time goes by ",and some sunsets, on the white beaches of the Gulf, in Florida,I can still hear your voice,as I walk along, and time goes by.See you Durante !,noi non te abbiamo dimenticato.
Jimmy was just sensational in everything he did.. He was a giant talent.. A giant of a human being with a giant heart.. I wish we had his kind today but we don't unfortuantely.. He is wonderful in this video. Talking about love and also singing this wonderful wonderful song..
Now and in the future, where are you ever going to find an entertainer like this. This applies to a few other entertainers from the period, such as Jolson etc. All fabulous but forgotten today to make way for what passes as modern music.
John Upton In Heaven John..you me Jimmy will all have a party each night..and invite Robert Mitchum to sing too he made some records too I love his version of Li'l O'l Wine Drinker Me...we will have a ball hugs my friend xxx
I hope some young student makes it his career to restore these old videos to their original quality. You young kids, Jimmy came through very clear in the old B/W movies and tv. Only the tape age has made it fuzzy. Jimmy deserves better but I know it is hard work. Let's hope Jimmy is around forever as each generation of kids with a big snozola see Jimmy Durante and feel a little better about it. That he is 100% perfect as a role model for them is his enduring legacy.
Great song and to think the title character ester from the Orphan sings this song thruout the movie. Also at the end they play Jimmy's version Great song!!
@MasterofCrude I was a teen in the late '50s & early '60s, His show was immensely popular, but I looked forward most to his monologues and singing at the end; they demonstrated that he was not only a comedian, but a man with a great, big heart. He was an entertainer from head to toe; he gave his humor and love to all; he especially enjoyed entertaining the troops. So, wherever you are Jimmy, we all wish we could hear you say one more time: Goodnight Mrs. Kalabash ~ wherever you are.
I was pretty young when Jimmy made a series of hits, when he wasn't young [I thought]. Then I saw him a dozen years later still entertaining the troops. MRS. Kalabash tell Jimmy we said "Inka Dinka Doo".
just realized with him saying his daughter's name is CeeCee. That is the name of the Bette Midler character in Beaches that sings this song.... nod to a legend
I think that just comes with the fact that you're reminiscing about your past that makes it seem better. Many things seem better when you add the value of nostalgia to it. While I agree that there's a lot of junk on TV now, that's not to say that wasn't the case in the old days, neither does that mean there aren't anything good on today. Also, there are a hell of a lot more channels today than there were in decades ago.
@MandyTVLK Willie Bryant and His Orchestra was the original from 1936, followed by Rudy Vallee also in 1936, and thirdly Benny Goodman and His Orchestra also 1936. The song was written by Billy Hill.

I'm not that old and I sure do miss the entertainers from our past.
This was my dad's favorite entertainer. A great interpretation of the Big Bill Bronzy classic. Hink a dinka do.
I saw there were exactly 999 likes so I got to be the thousandth person to truly *love* Jimmy
Thanks for the memories :) I love Jimmy Durante!

Well you said it jimmy,as painful as it is at times, where would we be without it.
I was pretty young when Jimmy made a series of hits, when he wasn't young [I thought]. Then I saw him a dozen years later still entertaining the troops. MRS. Kalabash tell Jimmy we said "Inka Dinka Doo".
Well-said Jimmy. This man knows how to speak as well as how to sing. Justin Bieber has NOTHING on this wonderful, gentle man.
Thanks a lot i love it much
I wish I was in that audience.
"Thank you folks!"

"Pablo, he does to faces what I do to words" This shows that Durante was quite erudite behind his goofy exterior.

The good old days---when TV was real entertainment... Today with technical advancement comes mediocrity.

How does this refer to the movie Orphan? :p
@NaturVita theme to the 1967 film "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?"
