The million dollar “perfect” house wouldn’t be good enough for some viewers either - I’m sure they’d find reasons to criticize it. It’s never going to be enough if you live to satisfy other people. Your home is lovely and something to be proud of.
Here's something that gives me satisfaction in my thirty year old home with furnishings and decor that I love, but haven't been updated much in twenty years ... it's all paid for and has been for years. We pay cash for everything ... and I know you can relate to that. We've never cared about keeping up with the "Joneses". They may have big channels and making lots on YT, but I'll bet the majority are still financed way beyond what they should be.
Actually because you tubers are "self employed" most can't actually get big mortgages, most of them are buying those big fancy homes with cash. I think that there is a very big gap in knowledge around what these really big you tubers are making a year. James Charles is making at a minimum 5-9 million a year, maybe more. Trisha Paytas, who has some questionable content for sure, has less than half the subscribers as James, is making $250,000 / mos on just one of her social media platforms, and that's NOT including her 2 you tube channels, IG, or Paetron. Some you tubers are making $20-50k a mos on paetron. Now, we are talking about the .5% of people of you tube, but these people with the huge massive homes...I suspect they have zero debt. Like Lisa said these huge homes are investments and they are also big tax right offs as both the people in the couple - if there are 2 people in the house, they are both using that house as a tax right off, as they work from home.
Lisa, you have the right idea! You don’t have to worry at night how am I going to pay for that? You work so hard and John and you told us awhile back that you really don’t have debt and you use cash! That’s an amazing way! I never care what others have. I only have 4 years left on a 30 year mortgage! My kids are all in their 30s now and my baby had a baby 6 months ago. Now that is PRICELESS!!!! I want to leave my home to my three children and they’ll only have the taxes but I did one smart thing I purchased a legal 2 family. My oldest daughter rents upstairs. There is absolutely no excuse for cruel comments on TH-cam. It's unacceptable. However, I have been poor, middle class, and upper middle class. We've almost gone bankrupt twice due to my husband's health issues. So, I understand how demoralizing it can feel to watch someone pay thousands of dollars for a handbag when you can't buy groceries for your family (even though you are educated and work 60 hours a week). When jealousy tries to creep in, it means I need to spend less time on TH-cam and more time on gratitude.

So true. 🌟 My husband and I came from NOTHING, self-payed our way through college, and worked hard to have everything we have in life, but I still only show so much because of how envious people can become. They never see the hard work that goes into building a successful and happy life for ourselves. Even I used to end up being too hard on myself when looking at other TH-camrs, until I finally realized that everyone has their own path and battles that they must overcome (most that we will never know about). Basically, that old saying is true- "Comparison is the thief of JOY." I now know that as long as I am being the best version of ME, then that is all that truly matters. 💕

I remember when I was young, about 20 and told an elderly neighbour that I hated that everyone was gossiping and criticising me behind my back, she looked me straight in the eye “omg that’s marvellous my dear, it’s when they stop talking behind your back that you have to worry, because when they stop it means one of two things....you’re either dead or you’re too boring to bother talking about, so go out there and give them something to gossip about” from that day on I never looked back, I revel in the fact that I’m brightening up someone’s dull little life 😂
I hate to admit it, but when this pandemic started, I was really jealous of other you tubers. Doug and my circumstances really changed - we were not able to bring in money because of covid so I was jealous of the you tubers whose lives didn't seem to change. I was so jealous (and I am so ashamed of this) that at my age I had to cut back so much, while others younger than me seemed like they were living it up. So I really had to work through that. And I did. Now I can really watch others show lots of really expensive things and I really enjoy them!!! It's fun being able to live vicariously through them! I think part of aging is developing a “who cares” attitude. I’m so *not* interested in impressing anyone but myself. I used to buy designer clothes, shoes, purses etc and now realize what a waste of $$$ it was. I could have paid cash for my kids college with what I used to spend. I worked hard, saved for years, invested in good stocks and paid cash for my house, Mercedes SL550, and more. Living debt free is bliss. I found once I had the $$$ for whatever I wanted, I wanted very little. Worry only about the happiness under your roof, nobody else’s opinion matters. My Mom always said “opinions are like assholes, everyone has them.” Keep doing *you* .....nobody else can do that *any* better! 😊
Sloan_005 I absolutely agree with you. You do get to a certain point when you say "who cares". I know that some of the stuff you see on Instagram and TH-cam is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I agree Lisa, the majority of these people work tremendously hard to get where they are and congrats!! to them. I applaud their dedication for sure. But for me authenticity, is where it is at and I believe that is why your audience follows you. You keep it REAL, which is much more endearing!
I love what u said and I agree 100%. Any advise on how you knew what investments to make. I come from a family that have the poor man mentality which is work until u retire and save your pennies. No investments and half the time they retire with not much to survive with. I would welcome any advise. Ty.
Glory - I’d recommend finding a good financial planner. Check reviews, get referrals etc. The one rule of investing, you have to be willing to invest the $$ and leave it alone to grow. With the USA economy, interest rate etc in the past couple of years it’s been effortless to make a lot of $$. One stock I bought a loooong time ago was Amazon. 👍🏻
I have been a “full time” TH-camr for 9 years and yes! It takes time and energy to do. I don’t think others realize how much really goes into it. I lost a childhood friend when i started making good money. My husband and I started a business that did well. A year later we took a vacation to Mexico. First time we had ever taken a vacation without the kids and the first time I had ever been out of the country. I was gone 4 days and she stopped talking to me once I got back. I didn’t upgrade my home, my car, my clothes.. I just took a vacation that I earned and payed for. She couldn’t get past the jealousy. I’ve not taken an out of country vacation since, and we still are not friends after 10 years. She dropped a 20 year friendship because our bank accounts were different. Blows my mind still. 🤯

I'm with you! I've always believed that people are the master of their own making. When I was young, I'd never have thought that I'd have a Master's degree, which I got in my 40s. I now find myself (as a teacher in my 50s), looking to you You Tubers, trying to figure out how to create art for my channel. I'm pretty sure that my teenage students will watch my You Tube videos if they are interesting (assigned too). So, right now, I'm spending hours and hours researching and starting up. It's so much work! I admire all of your great work! BTW, I love your home and you deserve every bit of it!

Lisa, I've been watching you for YEARS!!! I'm 15 years younger than you and I'm blown away by your beauty and style always! It takes time to look as good as you, it takes effort and believe me it's worth it and so appreciated! Your channel might not be as trendy as some others, but your content is so solid. I've come away so many times with ideas on how to make myself look nicer and the products I need to do so. I've turned several of my friends into fans of yours too! I just love you, you're as sweet as American apple pie! I really wish more people would turn to your channel so that you could become as big as some of these other youtubers. But trust me, your fan base is loyal. I like that I can always come back to this channel and see you smiling and talking about new things you like as if I were sitting down with a close girlfriend over coffee.
i don't take youtuber homes too seriously. when i was very little my mom was a house cleaner for a time. she told me once when we were driving around these streets with all the big houses that many of them were actually partially empty because the owners spent so much on the house itself they didn't have money to actually furnish it! it was all for appearances on the outside.
I live in Toronto Canada, a million dollars here won’t get you very far, the cost of living here is crazy. The real estate market is so crazy and inflated that there have been cases where an average home has sold for $200,000 over asking! Bidding wars are common. Again, most of the homes wouldn’t blow your mind. In my neighborhood a 1500 square foot stacked townhome with 2 bedrooms just sold for $820k.

I think people also forget that many of the items purchased for you tube And Instagram are tax deductible when featured because it’s a business expense.

You’re so right when you said people resent when you make money. My husband is 44 and built his company from the ground up on his own. Sleepless nights, anxiety, long hours, etc... He has been very successful which has allowed us to live a certain type of lifestyle that our parents/family/friends didn’t have. There’s so much jealousy and resentment it’s frustrating. Even with his own siblings. It drives me insane and make me so angry. We just tore our old home down to rebuild a new one and haven’t even told our families exactly what we’re doing for fear of comments. We just don’t want to hear it! He had nothing handed to him. Everyone has the same opportunity life....
Lisa. Thank you very much for this video. For putting things in perspective. My husband and I have been working 40 + years and are now retired. We have bought our house 25 years ago. Although the bank advised us a higher mortgage, we did not do that. Because we want to have a nice living as well. Holidays etc. Our house is not too big but enough for us and our lovely cats with a small garden. We decorated with things we love and not what everybody else had, because it's MY house. There is a corner from the livingroom furnished for doing my paintings and special chairs whith special pillows for the cats. In short: don't do what everybody else does with their home, but making it a place where you feel safe. Greeting from The Netherlands.

I always remember years ago when my husband and I would drive around some very nice neighborhoods and would see toys and bicycles for little kids outside many of them and wonder “how do these young family’s afford these homes”.. years later a girlfriend was in in real estate and the conversation got around to this subject. She said they can’t afford them, if you go inside they are almost empty and you can see they are mortgage poor....personally I would never have wanted to live like that
You're right. I found this out when I joined a moms' group and started having play dates at homes. We had a SMALL townhouse on the edge of town and everyone else had the huge McMansions, country club memberships, high end luxury car (or SUV or mini-van). All of us were SAHMs and we made a huge sacrifice to do it. I would look at these homes and think "how did we screw up SO much?!" Then I'd go in and no furniture other than the bare necessities. Found out that many had parents who were paying for the house, the car, the vacations and they would do the same thing for their grandkids some day (I wish!!) Some had $4-5000 a month mortgages. Some were in CC debt up to their eyeballs. I guess because we didn't have those things they felt they could trust me to say nothing. It was an eye-opener. I wonder what happened to many of them during the crash of 2008....

I had a thought the other day: if you devoted the same amount of energy into real estate or science (or whatever) as you do in beauty that you would be very “successful.” I put “successful” in quotations because your talents and skills are just as valuable as any other profession; they are just not as traditionally accepted as valuable. BUT, that doesn’t mean that your talents are not meaningful! You are driven, smart, and a life-long learner-three gifts that we should admire in anyone. You are also a joy to watch because of your positivity and belief in others. Thank you for your videos!

As a 30-something mom and professional, the influencer style has infiltrated so much of what is available and popular among people in my age group, but my husband and I have unabashedly traditional style. I know our friends probably wonder what we’re thinking, but we hope that our investment in classic style is good for the long run. It is nice to hear someone who is just willing to keep it real and authentic about cultivating personal-not just duplicated-style. :)

I can’t imagine the criticism. I did want to tell you something that hit hard. I watch a lot of make and cleaning channels. The cleaning I have on for motivation when I am cleaning and their homes are perfect. And you’re right. It’s a show house. That’s not always real life!

When I walk in a door I want to feel as if I'm bing hugged. I want that house to reflect the people who live there. I think anyone who walks into my home would say..."Oh yes...Patti lives here". It is who I am - it has favorite possessions - it has me. And it's totally paid for and let me tell you...when the economy could go off the deep end at any minute, it is easier to sleep knowing I have a roof over my head that is totally mine. I don’t think it’s about whether they deserve it or not or how hard they worked for it. Some of us have been following certain people for years. And WE have seen a huge change in some of them. They let the follower count get to their heads. I’ve unfollowed several because they clearly started lying, promoting things that are garbage just to make a few dollars. Lying about paid ads. Not being transparent. Etc etc ... Once I sense dishonesty they are done.
You are the sweetest soul, and such a blessing! I couldn't imagine the cruelness that comes with having a youtube channel. You have always been very real and authentic. A lot of the big TH-camrs are like watching a big advert all the time. I watch them too but my favourites are you and Marnie as you keep it real. I think that is why most of us are here and stay. As I told Marnie recently, Sadly we had no cure yet for being a complete Knob. These nasty people who say mean things will remain nasty to everyone for the rest of their lives. There is no cure. Let us be glad we don't have their disease.

Hi Lisa! I don’t comment often but I wanted to comment on this video. Our homes are a blessing. Big or small. As long as it’s a HOME, where love flourishes that’s what matters to me. I can tell you love your home. I have way more house than I deserve, it’s not always clean, and not decorated in all the latest decor, but it’s a joy to me. I raised my family here. Being in the '" I just don't care what you think'" mode came to me as I matured, I am so happy with what we have created over the years,- a lovely little house that suits our needs, a private garden, and most importantly people we love who truly decorate our lives with meaning and love. Wanting what you have is happiness.

Where you live definitely matters. I moved from very expensive Northern NJ where I lived my whole life to NC above Charlotte a few years ago, I bought a house twice the size, twice the property, newer and taxes a quarter of what I paid in NJ and paid way less than I sold my NJ house for. Best move ever. I do watch the YT house tours for decorating inspiration. Yes the homes are amazing but I am happy with what I have now and feel grateful. I can't believe people ridicule your home!! So rude.

I do not even think about the person's house when I view a you tube video. I am interested in what the person is talking about. However I do notice your cats because I am a animal person and I like the added cuteness to your videos. I guess I am not a jealous person of another person's success. You are so gracious sweetie. I’m not all together sure I share your lovely (and much appreciated) attitude toward all TH-camr’s success. However, I am clear that if I don’t, it is simply my opinion; no more, no less. I live in the Silicon Valley area, nothing in this area is representative of “real” America. That’s also how I hold aspects of “life” depicted via TH-cam or Instagram. And, to some degree, it sounds as though you experienced this realization when looking for houses. Especially in the times, people feel they can just judge. So let me tell you what your Chanel has done for me. First you have introduced almost everything I use as far as hair and makeup. Now with the house. We have a big older house. We are redoing t make it just as beautiful as we want. I was so glad to hear you liked the house you where living in. It’s the home, not the house you raise your children in. Love your man in, have memories of your pets. You are brave to have this channel and the follower is grateful. Here's something that gives me satisfaction in my thirty year old home with furnishings and decor that I love, but haven't been updated much in twenty years ... it's all paid for and has been for years. We pay cash for everything ... and I know you can relate to that. We've never cared about keeping up with the "Joneses". They may have big channels and making lots on YT, but I'll bet the majority are still financed way beyond what they should be.

Actually because you tubers are "self employed" most can't actually get big mortgages, most of them are buying those big fancy homes with cash. I think that there is a very big gap in knowledge around what these really big you tubers are making a year. James Charles is making at a minimum 5-9 million a year, maybe more. Trisha Paytas, who has some questionable content for sure, has less than half the subscribers as James, is making $250,000 / mos on just one of her social media platforms, and that's NOT including her 2 you tube channels, IG, or Paetron. Some you tubers are making $20-50k a mos on paetron. Now, we are talking about the .5% of people of you tube, but these people with the huge massive homes...I suspect they have zero debt. Like Lisa said these huge homes are investments and they are also big tax right offs as both the people in the couple - if there are 2 people in the house, they are both using that house as a tax right off, as they work from home.
Lisa, you have the right idea! You don’t have to worry at night how am I going to pay for that? You work so hard and John and you told us awhile back that you really don’t have debt and you use cash! That’s an amazing way! I never care what others have. I only have 4 years left on a 30 year mortgage! My kids are all in their 30s now and my baby had a baby 6 months ago. Now that is PRICELESS!!!! I want to leave my home to my three children and they’ll only have the taxes but I did one smart thing I purchased a legal 2 family. My oldest daughter rents upstairs. There is absolutely no excuse for cruel comments on TH-cam. It's unacceptable. However, I have been poor, middle class, and upper middle class. We've almost gone bankrupt twice due to my husband's health issues. So, I understand how demoralizing it can feel to watch someone pay thousands of dollars for a handbag when you can't buy groceries for your family (even though you are educated and work 60 hours a week). When jealousy tries to creep in, it means I need to spend less time on TH-cam and more time on gratitude.

So true. 🌟 My husband and I came from NOTHING, self-payed our way through college, and worked hard to have everything we have in life, but I still only show so much because of how envious people can become. They never see the hard work that goes into building a successful and happy life for ourselves. Even I used to end up being too hard on myself when looking at other TH-camrs, until I finally realized that everyone has their own path and battles that they must overcome (most that we will never know about). Basically, that old saying is true- "Comparison is the thief of JOY." I now know that as long as I am being the best version of ME, then that is all that truly matters. 💕

I remember when I was young, about 20 and told an elderly neighbour that I hated that everyone was gossiping and criticising me behind my back, she looked me straight in the eye “omg that’s marvellous my dear, it’s when they stop talking behind your back that you have to worry, because when they stop it means one of two things....you’re either dead or you’re too boring to bother talking about, so go out there and give them something to gossip about” from that day on I never looked back, I revel in the fact that I’m brightening up someone’s dull little life 😂

I hate to admit it, but when this pandemic started, I was really jealous of other you tubers. Doug and my circumstances really changed - we were not able to bring in money because of covid so I was jealous of the you tubers whose lives didn't seem to change. I was so jealous (and I am so ashamed of this) that at my age I had to cut back so much, while others younger than me seemed like they were living it up. So I really had to work through that. And I did. Now I can really watch others show lots of really expensive things and I really enjoy them!!! It's fun being able to live vicariously through them! I think part of aging is developing a “who cares” attitude. I’m so *not* interested in impressing anyone but myself. I used to buy designer clothes, shoes, purses etc and now realize what a waste of $$$ it was. I could have paid cash for my kids college with what I used to spend. I worked hard, saved for years, invested in good stocks and paid cash for my house, Mercedes SL550, and more. Living debt free is bliss. I found once I had the $$$ for whatever I wanted, I wanted very little. Worry only about the happiness under your roof, nobody else’s opinion matters. My Mom always said “opinions are like assholes, everyone has them.” Keep doing *you* .....nobody else can do that *any* better! 😊
Sloan_005 I absolutely agree with you. You do get to a certain point when you say "who cares". I know that some of the stuff you see on Instagram and TH-cam is nothing but smoke and mirrors. I agree Lisa, the majority of these people work tremendously hard to get where they are and congrats!! to them. I applaud their dedication for sure. But for me authenticity, is where it is at and I believe that is why your audience follows you. You keep it REAL, which is much more endearing!

Glory - I’d recommend finding a good financial planner. Check reviews, get referrals etc. The one rule of investing, you have to be willing to invest the $$ and leave it alone to grow. With the USA economy, interest rate etc in the past couple of years it’s been effortless to make a lot of $$. One stock I bought a loooong time ago was Amazon. 👍🏻

I lost a childhood friend when i started making good money. My husband and I started a business that did well. A year later we took a vacation to Mexico. First time we had ever taken a vacation without the kids and the first time I had ever been out of the country. I was gone 4 days and she stopped talking to me once I got back. I didn’t upgrade my home, my car, my clothes.. I just took a vacation that I earned and payed for. She couldn’t get past the jealousy. I’ve not taken an out of country vacation since, and we still are not friends after 10 years. She dropped a 20 year friendship because our bank accounts were different. Blows my mind still. 🤯

I'm with you! I've always believed that people are the master of their own making. When I was young, I'd never have thought that I'd have a Master's degree, which I got in my 40s. I now find myself (as a teacher in my 50s), looking to you You Tubers, trying to figure out how to create art for my channel. I'm pretty sure that my teenage students will watch my You Tube videos if they are interesting (assigned too). So, right now, I'm spending hours and hours researching and starting up. It's so much work! I admire all of your great work! BTW, I love your home and you deserve every bit of it!

It takes time to look as good as you, it takes effort and believe me it's worth it and so appreciated! Your channel might not be as trendy as some others, but your content is so solid. I've come away so many times with ideas on how to make myself look nicer and the products I need to do so. I've turned several of my friends into fans of yours too! I just love you, you're as sweet as American apple pie! I really wish more people would turn to your channel so that you could become as big as some of these other youtubers. But trust me, your fan base is loyal. I like that I can always come back to this channel and see you smiling and talking about new things you like as if I were sitting down with a close girlfriend over coffee.
i don't take youtuber homes too seriously. when i was very little my mom was a house cleaner for a time. she told me once when we were driving around these streets with all the big houses that many of them were actually partially empty because the owners spent so much on the house itself they didn't have money to actually furnish it! it was all for appearances on the outside.
I live in Toronto Canada, a million dollars here won’t get you very far, the cost of living here is crazy. The real estate market is so crazy and inflated that there have been cases where an average home has sold for $200,000 over asking! Bidding wars are common. Again, most of the homes wouldn’t blow your mind. In my neighborhood a 1500 square foot stacked townhome with 2 bedrooms just sold for $820k.
That is high!! I think NC is right in the middle as far as all the states go, after looking I learned to appreciate my own house, and all those fabulous homes on YT are NOT the norm! Thank you for being here, Lisa! ❤️ Lisa

You’re so right when you said people resent when you make money. My husband is 44 and built his company from the ground up on his own. Sleepless nights, anxiety, long hours, etc... He has been very successful which has allowed us to live a certain type of lifestyle that our parents/family/friends didn’t have. There’s so much jealousy and resentment it’s frustrating. Even with his own siblings. It drives me insane and make me so angry. We just tore our old home down to rebuild a new one and haven’t even told our families exactly what we’re doing for fear of comments. We just don’t want to hear it! He had nothing handed to him. Everyone has the same opportunity life....
Lisa. Thank you very much for this video. For putting things in perspective. My husband and I have been working 40 + years and are now retired. We have bought our house 25 years ago. Although the bank advised us a higher mortgage, we did not do that. Because we want to have a nice living as well. Holidays etc. Our house is not too big but enough for us and our lovely cats with a small garden. We decorated with things we love and not what everybody else had, because it's MY house. There is a corner from the livingroom furnished for doing my paintings and special chairs whith special pillows for the cats. I always remember years ago when my husband and I would drive around some very nice neighborhoods and would see toys and bicycles for little kids outside many of them and wonder “how do these young family’s afford these homes”.. years later a girlfriend was in in real estate and the conversation got around to this subject. She said they can’t afford them, if you go inside they are almost empty and you can see they are mortgage poor....personally I would never have wanted to live like that
You're right. I found this out when I joined a moms' group and started having play dates at homes. We had a SMALL townhouse on the edge of town and everyone else had the huge McMansions, country club memberships, high end luxury car (or SUV or mini-van). All of us were SAHMs and we made a huge sacrifice to do it. I would look at these homes and think "how did we screw up SO much?!" Then I'd go in and no furniture other than the bare necessities. Found out that many had parents who were paying for the house, the car, the vacations and they would do the same thing for their grandkids some day (I wish!!) Some had $4-5000 a month mortgages. Some were in CC debt up to their eyeballs. I guess because we didn't have those things they felt they could trust me to say nothing. It was an eye-opener. I wonder what happened to many of them during the crash of 2008....

I had a thought the other day: if you devoted the same amount of energy into real estate or science (or whatever) as you do in beauty that you would be very “successful.” I put “successful” in quotations because your talents and skills are just as valuable as any other profession; they are just not as traditionally accepted as valuable. BUT, that doesn’t mean that your talents are not meaningful! You are driven, smart, and a life-long learner-three gifts that we should admire in anyone. As a 30-something mom and professional, the influencer style has infiltrated so much of what is available and popular among people in my age group, but my husband and I have unabashedly traditional style. I know our friends probably wonder what we’re thinking, but we hope that our investment in classic style is good for the long run. It is nice to hear someone who is just willing to keep it real and authentic about cultivating personal-not just duplicated-style. :)

When I walk in a door I want to feel as if I'm bing hugged. I want that house to reflect the people who live there. I think anyone who walks into my home would say..."Oh yes...Patti lives here". It is who I am - it has favorite possessions - it has me. And it's totally paid for and let me tell you...when the economy could go off the deep end at any minute, it is easier to sleep knowing I have a roof over my head that is totally mine. I don’t think it’s about whether they deserve it or not or how hard they worked for it. Some of us have been following certain people for years. And WE have seen a huge change in some of them. They let the follower count get to their heads. I’ve unfollowed several because they clearly started lying, promoting things that are garbage just to make a few dollars. Lying about paid ads. Not being transparent. Etc etc ... Once I sense dishonesty they are done.

You have always been very real and authentic. A lot of the big TH-camrs are like watching a big advert all the time. I watch them too but my favourites are you and Marnie as you keep it real. I think that is why most of us are here and stay. As I told Marnie recently, Sadly we had no cure yet for being a complete Knob. These nasty people who say mean things will remain nasty to everyone for the rest of their lives. There is no cure. Let us be glad we don't have their disease.

Actually the prices in Texas aren’t that inexpensive anymore. The cost of living has risen here a lot! Texas used to be cheap, but not anymore.

I don’t comment often but I wanted to comment on this video. Our homes are a blessing. Big or small. As long as it’s a HOME, where love flourishes that’s what matters to me. I can tell you love your home. I have way more house than I deserve, it’s not always clean, and not decorated in all the latest decor, but it’s a joy to me. I raised my family here. I don’t want my home to be a museum.

Being in the '" I just don't care what you think'" mode came to me as I matured, I am so happy with what we have created over the years,- a lovely little house that suits our needs, a private garden, and most importantly people we love who truly decorate our lives with meaning and love. Wanting what you have is happiness.
Great video! My husband loves a clean house that looks like a home! He doesn’t care about how it’s decorated. He does care that it’s paid for. 😘 being satisfied is the key.

Where you live definitely matters. I moved from very expensive Northern NJ where I lived my whole life to NC above Charlotte a few years ago, I bought a house twice the size, twice the property, newer and taxes a quarter of what I paid in NJ and paid way less than I sold my NJ house for. Best move ever. I do watch the YT house tours for decorating inspiration. Yes the homes are amazing but I am happy with what I have now and feel grateful. I can't believe people ridicule your home!! So rude.

Sometimes I feel like a comment too much but I love watching you and you have given me so many tips and saved me so much time with your recommendations on shopping that I just listen and then "click" ! Negativity is an ugly thing and you need to laugh at those comments and let all of that nastiness they send motivate you more to keep doing what you're doing because I am not sure what I would do in the morning when I sip my coffee if you didn't do this! :)

You are so gracious sweetie. I’m not all together sure I share your lovely (and much appreciated) attitude toward all TH-camr’s success. However, I am clear that if I don’t, it is simply my opinion; no more, no less. I live in the Silicon Valley area, nothing in this area is representative of “real” America. That’s also how I hold aspects of “life” depicted via TH-cam or Instagram. And, to some degree, it sounds as though you experienced this realization when looking for houses. That said, I feel it’s all fun to watch and I certainly appreciate the all the creativity that goes into creating content!
I’m often asked what’s your decorating style and the answer is always the same...whatever I like. I could care less if it’s farmhouse, boho, glam, industrial, shabby chic or whatever because if I like it and my husband and I agree on it that’s all that counts
