AOAA Adventure in the Winter with Tad and Freinds

I meet up with Tad and his freinds Harvey, Jamie, Steve, and Donna at Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area for a winter exploration of the old mines, equipment, goat man, and even a mine fire!

It's my new loud lever. Lol. Dropped 15 lbs, added 5 hp. That's what rpm says. But I do notice that it's crisper, and way better down low throttle response. But it's alittle loud after 4 hours..lol

I'm happy with it. 500 bucks, but it was worth it. Like I said, It woke up the bottom end of power curve.

so there was a big open slope right next to that building you stopped at briefly and said it may have been a wash house. in the early 2000s you could go into the mine opening but they filled it in when they started clearing all of that timber in the area. That would have been in the days before AOAA. I have pictures if you're interested.
The Hill you went up on that overlooks the little lake is the area we used to call The Sands.
I haven't seen this area since before it was AOAA. Thanks for the memories!

Not sure if it is still burning but there used to be a coal mine fire off of route 54 going from Mahanoy City to Shenondoah.

The fires burning underneath AOAA are part of the Centralia fire that has been burning since 1962,look it up ,really wild story 😮

I didn't know that. Yeah..all the mines were connected. First time seeing this. Saw vid on Glen burn 6 yrs ago... Temp inside back of mine was 80°F

@coalcrackerchris really cool stories of Centralia,,,alot to comprehend, this has been a problem in Pennsylvania for 60 plus years and is estimated to burn for another 250 years, ride your dirtbikes or atv through this area,it is an amazing place to explore
