I just picked up a bottle today and although my teens were in the 90s, I somehow have a deep deep reminiscent feeling from Vanderbilt. It's like a ghost of Christmas past in my memory. As soon as I sprayed it, I was like oh yes!, I so remember this beauty!!! I grew up really poor and it has been such a fun journey to rediscover memorable scents that I can now afford! I love this fragrance and plan to get back ups asap!
I bought me a bottle back in the 1983 because my boy friends mother who was rich compared to me wore it. I was really poor as well working two jobs, paying car payment, rent, etc. ate up my money. I still have my first bottle.
My great grandmother, who I adored and lived with at times, only wore Lair du Temps. Thats my best scent memory. Running up to hug her and how wonderful she always smelled. She used the soaps and lotions as we always bought her sets during the holidays. She had a shelf full of bottles. Dabbers, sprays, splashes and she had unwrapped soaps in places to scent the area. She enjoyed being girly. She had her nails done, She dyed her hair every 2 weeks in between her weekly roller set and style at the beauty salon. She used a clairol color # 1 or 2 and it was a BLUE based black!! The other scent she wore was HAIRSPRAY. Specifically, White Rain in a white can with a green label. Every morning when she fluffed her hair she sprayed it HEAVILY in the hairspray. She had a can of that in every room, every car, every house, every where! She would spray her hair, in the car, while smoking, with the windows up, before we went into the store or wherever we were going. She had a phone in her car before cell phones were a thing, it was in the center console, it was huge. It was covered in hairspray, so much so it was tacky feeling!! I would love to take one more ride with her and tell her how much I miss her ...

I’m 21 and though I’m a big fragrance enthusiast, I can’t really afford to buy that many big designer perfumes. I recently bought this one for an everyday scent so that I can save my more expensive ones for special occasions.. I absolutely adore this scent!! It’s not dated at all, I think all of the notes are very well balanced and create a beautiful, feminine blend that is truly effective as an everyday kind of fragrance. I wanted to hear someone else’s opinion on it! Thank you ❤❤❤

I love Vanderbilt, used to wear it and use the bath products in the 80s. I bought a bottle for the nostalgia a couple of years ago, I still love the scent but my husband said it smelled cheap the first time I wore it - my chemistry? I don’t care, I still wear it sometimes, it’s so pretty!

I absolutely love love love Vanderbilt! Such a gorgeous perfume! It was one of the first perfumes I purchased in 1987 as a young new working “adult” (age 18☺️). It’s so inexpensive now yay for me! I have 2 back up bottles. I love it so much I have such a strong scent memory for V. On the day Gloria Vanderbilt passed away On 6/2019 I sprayed V in her honor 😞. Sophia Grojsman created this beauty only 1 year before another favorite of mine Paris by YSL in 1983. I still have the bottle (2.5 oz) I purchased in Paris in 2003 on a vacation and the scent is still in mint condition! I have a 4oz back up bottle of this too ☺️. Sophia is a genius I own a lot of her creations. I’ve been so curious about Jicky now I must try! E mi hanno suggerito la linea perfume Vanderbilt Gloria prodotta a New York. Tra l'altro casualmente sto leggendo un libro newyorkese che cade a fagiolo. Dapprima mi hanno suggerito la versione classico rosa antico. Non mi sono affatto trovata male! Tutt'altro! Perche' l'aroma di Patchully copre totalmente qualsiasi nota della rosa (non amo particolarmente l'acqua di rosa perche' la vedo meglio come acqua profumata per le calde e afose e assolate estati newyorkesi). Mi piace lo speziato del gelsomino che e' il punto forte della versione classico. Mi hanno proposto di seguire la linea Vanderbilt e ho optato per la versione in Red. Fantastico!!!! Papaveri papaveri papaveri papaveri! Una distesa di papaveri. E allora ho pensato alla nota canzone natalizia che, ne sono certa, prendera' piede a New York. I had Vanderbilt in the 80s too. Affordable…. Still have a bottle. Well I bought a bottle of shalimar in the 80s loved it. Last year sent for a bottle for old times. Yuk what the heck did they do with it
Jicky must must must be sampled in the extrait form, and strongly encourage finding a vintage sample (pre-1980’s). Mind blowing. When I tried the current EDP it seemed like 20% of the strength and complexity of the pure parfum. Parfum is much creamier, herb-ally, spicier, syrupy, just heavier whilst still being light, smells as if you’ve been playing outside all day in a field. Odd that this fragrance has no middle notes, which i think does lend to its juxtaposing qualities.
I love Gloria Vanderbilt. I don't think it smells dated. It's warm and golden and comforting, and easy to wear in my opinion. My only grudge with it is the longevity, not good at all and kind of surprising, since the fragrance itself is not weak.

I used to wear Vanderbilt! It reminded me of the original Oscar de la renta. I loved it.

Jicky is like the classic of classics! Anyone who loves fragrances should know the classics, like Jicky, Mitsouko, Chypre, Shalimar, etc...
When I tried Gloria Vanderbilt, it seemed to have a doll head note in it. And it didn't last very long.

The formula was changed and the perfume made very expensive.

I bought it 2day i look forward to getting it... I do not like cinnamon so I am glad its not detectible. I love 🍍 though yummmmm 😋
I think the one I got was expired because it smelled way to strong and bad! It gives me a headache. 😣
