I remember flying on some of the "prop" airliners of that era in the late 1960s/early 1970s as a kid. I think a Herald was one of them. Very exciting. I remember the airline food - first time I tasted an olive (me aged about 6 or 7) ptewwy yuck spit-out!!!! (Love olives now!!!) I also remember sitting next to a lovely German lady on my first flight, and all I talked about was the war, because it fascinated me as a kid - all the planes and war machinery, blood and gore that kids love. That lady gave me the biggest, rosiest apple I had ever seen, and now I know why!
A bit of splicing the footage on the Valiant scramble. It's actually a Vulcan that the crew are running to. Check the undercarriage.
