  • How to become a falconer, uk tips. In this video I will be going over my tips on how to become a falconer, specifically how to become a falconer in the uk. I will not be going over any information you need for getting your first bird, these are just my tips that I think you should be taking towards becoming a falconer. There are many videos already like this online, however most of them are directed at American falconry. Falconry in the UK is very different and getting into uk falconry can be very easy if you do it right, however that doesn’t mean everybody should.
    If these tips make it seem like too much work, then UK falconry is not for you!

    Thanks Dan. I just found your channel as I trawl TH-cam learning as much as I can before hopefully getting my first bird (Harris' Hawk) later this year however, due to the virus all knowledge so far is from books and videos so keep them coming - particularly Harris hawk training, feeding, weight management, mews advice, furniture etc. etc.

      Thanks, glad you found me, I have loads of videos planned I’m just in a bit of a prickle at the moment as there was a case of bird flu very close to home so I’ve put all my birds on lockdown and really don’t have much to film at the moment, I can make several videos like the ones you mentioned without having to get the birds out and fly them though so hold tight, they are on the way!

    It's been a dream of mine to become a falconer for quite a few years now but have never been in a position to be able to do so. However, I retire in a couple of years and will have all the time I need to achieve ny dream and devote my time to owning and a bird.
    I came across your channel recently and have subscribed and joined and am now avidly watching your ver informative videos from the start.
    Keep up the good work 👍

    That's a brilliant video and a great subject to include. I reckon my eldest son would be excellent at this....could you be his mentor, please. In all seriousness, a very good presentation, delivered in a succinct, relaxed style. Great job

      @@MercerFalconry I would love to find out more and see. I'm closest to York Bird of Prey Centre and it looks like they have one-day training course, but by the sounds of it I need to find a mentor.

    • @MercerFalconry
      @MercerFalconry  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a one day training course is no where near enough and is a bit of a weird thing for a centre to offer. Something I didn’t mention in the video is the online communities, there are loads of pages on Facebook, the largest being falconry hub, might be worth joining and making a post asking if there is anyone near you who would help

    Can disabled people become falconers

    • @MercerFalconry
      @MercerFalconry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t see why not, depending on the kind of disability some aspects may not be possible such as running over fields and fences tracking the bird if she decides to go for a wander, but with enough help and adjustments to some practices I guess it would be possible
