    Very smart using a pvc pipe in the middle! Uses less moss that way! I also like to use reptile terrarium moss for my moss poles, over the higher quality spag, I enjoy the color a lot more :)

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It worked really well. I feel like it’s a lot sturdier with the pipe in the middle. And true, I will prob always get this cheaper moss for the poles - works great!

    Cyanoacrylate glue. One brand I have used is Loctite. Get the gel version. It dries almost instantly and the attachments are practically invisible. It is the same material used in glue stitches for human wounds. 🤠👍

    A pool noodle that you can find at dollar stores is a great sub for this as it's made to be in and around h2o, it's squeeze-able, bendable, long and cheap. I also fine the fact that it has a hole in the center so it can just be slipped down over a pole or dowel for extra support

    Enjoyed watching you make your moss pole. Now I'm inspired to do it too! I've made a couple with a wood post wrapped in coir but aerial roots can't really latch onto those. How do you keep a moss pole moist without overwatering your plant mix?

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, my moss poles often dry out lol. You can mist them, but I have found it easier to just kind of tilt my plants in the sink and take the extendable sprayer thing and spray the pole and leaves, but avoid the pot. It can be tricky indeed.

    Is that green tape you used the secure the plant to the pole, velcro tape?

    Hi wildfern, that looked so easy I'm inspired to make one for my Monstera adansonii. What is the green tape that you used to attach the plant to the pole. I'm in New Zealand and I don't think we have that here. Thanks for another great video xx :o)

    Yours is pretty. The only thing I don’t like about moss poles... they shed if they dry out. I am contemplating using coconut husk fiber. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @wildfern

      Yes they can be messy. I’d like to try a coco one too!

    I found some driftwood I’d like to use for my plant instead of a moss pole. But is the moss functional for moisture or aerial root cling? I’m wondering if I should tie moss around the driftwood or if I can just leave it bare. Thanks!!!

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can leave it bare. Plantlifeinthetropics has a lot of videos about plants climbing wood :)

    Quick question. Where did you get the plant shelves in your plant room 🙏🙏

      Thank you! They’re from Canadian Tire, I think they have them at Home Depot too.

    My addinsonia is so sad but I'd LOVE to do this for my scindapsus exotica. She is so huge & has huge leaves too. I can't imagine how large they'd be if I got her to climb .

    Could you explain what (in your opinion) makes a good sphagnum moss? I’m super new to using it and I don’t think I bought the most high quality stuff but I don’t have experience with any other brands to compare it to

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The stuff I usually get is soft and fluffy. This one I was using was almost more... plastic-y? It was weird.
