  • The New HG3plus controller was completely redesigned. It remotely controls both the HG3 PRO and QRO Magnetic Loop Antennas and the AR1 Rotator.
Retaining all the great features of our HG3 PRO model, the new HG3 QRO high power (1.5 KW) model raised the bar again in magnetic loop antenna performance (MLA). It covers 80-10 meters and features a high Q vacuum capacitor with 43,000 step resolution, allowing the operator to set their band preferences. Adding the optional second radiator loop (two turns) allows full power operation on 80 meters. The new HG3 plus controller remotely and continuously tunes 7-30 MHz with stepper motor precision and resolution. RapidTune automatically scans each band for the lowest SWR and works with most HF radios.

Wow what a fantastic set up. Makes my DIY Magnetic Loop Antenna look like a toy. Oh well returning to the Hobby and now I am retired from work. I need a lottery win to get one of these. Congrats on your design. Cheers from old George in the wet rainy UK 🇬🇧

On the rotation, can you display and or set a azimuth direction?
Can the controller follow the frequency set by the radio?
I assume you need to tune basically on every frequency used vs the band selected.

I don't think mentioning their price was done with disrespect. I would agree the $1,200 for a magnetic loop regardless of the quality of the build seems rather High because you still have to add the rotor on and the 80m and 60m and still the question of performance has to be asked. What's the angle of radiation or the take-off angle? How does it compare to a log periodic it's the same altitude? I have an expensive steppir and I can't see a magnetic loop outperforming my steppir. I say this certainly was no disrespect. The inventor is obviously quite a bit of time into this. I did notice an inconsistency in the Q St review and that it talked about how the remote tuner only covered 7-30mhz. What about 80m? No automated remote tuning? I'd really like to see one of these and operation before I spend that kind of money. Reviews on a ham for example don't show the great success that this video might suggest.

@@justanotherguy3850 The manual for this antenna says it will cover 80 metres with an external resonator. But I am fully expecting it to be quite inefficient on that particular band. You may very well need the amplifier to work any SSB on 75 metres.

    • @user-ss6zt2mo1l

@@justanotherguy3850 $1200 ! That's an absolute bargain ! for the amount of engineering that went into this. As for the Low bands, you would need a HUGE Loop for that. There is a Ham in Australia that has a 160 through 40 Loop. It is at Least 10 feet across. It is Huge.. I have made several loops. They work great. The difficult part is the implementation of the capacitor and the box to run it easily. Dx Engineering sells Italian Loops that are $3600. They are Home Station Antennas, and these loops more portable. You could probably mount this in a permanent location too.
I would be interested in seeing the loop design of this use a Fractal Antenna conductor design, for a permanent placement which has increased frequency capability and reduced size. I am happy this company is building these and especially for QRO..

@@user-ss6zt2mo1l I guess I'm spoiled because I use a steppir. I see the new model has come out and the operator said he can get a pretty good copy of stations if they're an S7 or better. Frankly, that's not good enough for me. I want to be able to dig them out of the dirt. But for some people this may be a very viable option depending on the circumstances or maybe they're going to a Mountaintop or something. I'm certainly not trying to knock the product. I haven't even tried it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the price either. A lot of time energy and money went into developing it and with the small pool of people that might purchase it he needs to make his money back.
