this should be your number one reason to come to america i would recommend tickets in turn 1 midway up and also would recommend a travel agent there and back again they specialize in racing venues they will really help with the logisitcs, secondly even though nascar is still my favorite series daytona 500 would also amaze get tickets up away from track to avoid debris hitting your face you would love the garage access

Even up into the 70's F1 was not a money maker. You may have noticed back then how many other types of racing F1 drivers did. They were paid to race as well as a percentage of the prize money. They made more money doing those races than winning the F1 championship. Winning at the 500 was most likely double (or more) than winning the F1 championship at that time. But 500 miles at high speed is not easy on the car or driver. And as you saw it was wide open for any type of design.

JR'S Hildebrand's crash indirectly lead to Dan Wheldon's death.
If JR didn't crash in turn 4 he wins the Indy 500 and Dan would not even be in the field at Vegas :(

My dad tried to qualify once in the 50s. He said the scariest thing he ever did in his life was running down the front stretch and seeing Turn One. And he was wounded in Korea.

You're onto it, IMO, INDYCAR is better than F1, as a V8 Supercar fan I started watching it when Scott McLaughlin went to INYCAR, I've been watching NASCAR since Marcos Ambrose started racing now SVG has made the switch, I really like oval racing , but I think NASCAR is moving in the right direction with more track and street course races. Australia's 'great race' the Bathurst 1000 is coming up soon recommended viewing ! Prerace must watch to learn the track is 'This is Bathurst I This is Mount Panorama I TENmotorsport'. Also NASCAR legend Darrell Waltrip's hot lap at Bathurst with Jason Bright driving is hilarious.

Suzi, I'm a Brazilian F1 fan who watched the Indy 500 for the first time in 1986 at the tender age of 6, and I still remember how thrilling it felt!

FWIW Since it takes like two hours to start an F1 car, Gentlemen/Drivers start your engines isn't a deal in F1.

I have been an IndyCar fan ever since 2021 and I am Indian, meaning that races start late at night.

I have another suggestion from Flo racing
“Chasing 200” is a phenomenal film that doesn’t need any knowledge of anything. It’s based on a dirt driver and that’s honestly all you need to know. It’s truly the best stuff Flo racing has created and you seemed to like the others made by them.

At 4:29 I have seen and have a picture of that exact race car at gateway in Saint Louis instead of it being #70 it’s #60. Same exact car tho the color is amazing to see in person.

The tradition of kissing the yard of bricks wasn't started until Dale Jarrett did it in 1996 when he won the Brickyard 400. And the tradition spread to the Indy 500 afterwards.
