Tara's stutter has almost disappeared, her family turn up and it comes right back!
So, now we know why she missed up Willow's demon locator spell.

"There was not enough Tara in the last episode..."
Girl, they make up for that in this one, big time!
"I want to meet whoever gave her these self-confidence issues..."
    Wish granted!

Amy Adams being in this episode is wild.
(She was also in a movie from 2000 called Psycho Beach Party with Nicholas Brendon - Xander - and Lauren Ambrose from Six Feet Under).

Family was a great episode where you feel that the group really are a solid unit. Spike is hilarious at the end again when he punches Tara to prove she is not a Demon, and calls out Tara's father. The interesting juxtaposition here with Tara and Willow using magic to get their way. We see this dynamic changing. Was somewhat interesting too to see Amy Adams in a one of her first roles before becoming Hollywood A-lister, as it was seeing Pedro Pascal in S4 episode The Freshman, and Jeremy Renner popping up in Angel episode Somnambulist.

What, you don't trust this show?!? (Naw, I can't even be surprised, nobody should trust this show to give a happy ending, but it is still very satisfying in its own way.)

SPOILERS THROUGH THE END OF THE SEASON
    Such a fantastic episode.
During the show's initial run many fans had the reaction to Tara from _Hush_ to this episode that Xander and Buffy have when they talk to each other about Tara. I am of the opinion that is why this episode exists. To get characters and fans to "get her" as fans, Xander, and Buffy state they struggled with.
This ties into S1E11 ( Out of Mind, Out of Sight aka The Invisible Girl ) nicely because Buffy sensing something was in the room without seeing them shows that she retained the knowledge and lesson from said episode. Problem is there was more than one, unlike 1x11. If Tara hadn't shown up they would have been done, but Buffy still got enough of an upper-hand they were prepared long enough until Tara took the spell off. Good thing the demons were too confused and cautious about not being seen. That helped the group get said upper-hand.
Action: Spike punching Tara in the nose.
Spike's expectation: It was a good thing everybody.
It was also only an accurate expectation because not asking her permission is the only way the chip would have activated. Otherwise he's just a soulless creature wanting to hit Tara in the nose. Although that was just as much the point with him because, "[He didn't] care what happens."
Tara spell wasn't a spell, it was a curse. She states it directly in the wording. That's how desperate her family made her.
Cousin Beth believed the gaslighting (even after it was outed) so much she hated Tara for doing what she either couldn't, or was convinced was wrong.
My head canon theory is that magic isn't Tara's dad's issue. It's the fact that Tara's mom wanted to leave him (perhaps even for another girl, but could of been for numerous reasons [and take Tara with her]) and he wasn't going to allow that so made up a story about her magic (after interferring in a spell, thus causing it to go bad) and in order to keep it's cover continued spinning it to accident and "to keep the ladies in line," as Spike says.
The Bronze is an all ages club where people can drink if they're of age. Not everyone behind Dawn, when she calls alcohol drinkers, "Losers" are of legal age, so I consider that a great moment by Dawn, just not for the reason Dawn thought she was saying it, but for the fact that most of the characters behind Dawn are underage drinking and not setting the example they were trying to. In S5 a good chunk of the characters would be 19 going on 20. Buffy hasn't had a S5 birthday yet, so she is still 19. Legal drinking age is 21 in America.

Not enough Amy Addams, otherwise an A+ episode.

Brooke as Tara: "I got out! You should too!" Would have been great if they had a future episode with Amy, maybe needing help trying to get free from her family. Then it turns out she is actually a demon!
