The prediction of the world population in 25 years was very close. Mao predicted 6 billion and it turned out to be 5.6 billion. That is based on this movie dated 1969 and therefore the 25-year prediction for the year 1994. We didn't tick over 6 billion until the year 1999. By the way, this was rather remarkable as the world population was only approximately 3.5 billion when this film was made. The Chinese one-child policy was implemented in 1980 and ended in 2015. China is now facing a serious unintended consequences of firstly a marked gender imbalance and now a rapidly shirking and aging population and all that entails. There is no remedy in sight. This ill-conceived and completely foreseeable calamity may end up making The Great Leap Forward look like a minor miscalculation.

It’s a good move, at least it tells the truth of what happened in China of 1960’s to 1970’ China Great Culture Revolution era. Red Guards destroyed Chinese good old traditions. 1 mistake : Chairman Mou don’t speak English !

And you believe the film tells you the truth about life in China back then!?!?!?!? How naive you must be!
